While there we take a helicopter ride to explore the city and the snow covered mountain peaks by air. Along the way we see wildlife such as seals, dolphins, and whales from the air. After searching the town by car for a needed repair part, we set sail and race (kind of) a 100 foot schooner down the Beagle Channel on our way back to our mooring ball in Puerto Williams. After our arrival we are met with new friends on board a performance sailing catamaran. With this, new adventures are in store for us as a sailing couple along with our sailing dog roxy! We enjoyed visiting Saint-Tropez! It is actually just a small seaside resort with 6,000 inhabitants, originally a fishing village. But because it is so picturesque and loved by artists (Matisse, Picasso) and the beau monde, it has 5,000,000 visitors a year! Particularly helped since the 1920s when Saint-Tropez was a magnet for international fashion stars and later the movie stars of the 1950s (Brigitte Bardot). In winter the town seems almost deserted (restaurants closed, tourists and luxury yachts gone) and the atmosphere of the past is once again breathed. We liked the city of Saint-Tropez, it has a beautiful old center with small streets, a citadel and nice pastel-colored shops. In this video you see the 3 harbors of Saint-Tropez: the regular harbor, the fishing harbor with small boats and the superyachts marina on the quay where everyone walks by to marvel at the chandeliers and huge flower arrangements on board. And 8 staff who are cleaning the stainless steel railings of the boat all day long, so that the ship always looks great when the owner arrives. It's nice to see the contrast between the small wooden fishing boats that should have been painted 10 years ago, and the hip million-dollar yachts. Because the harbor here is prohibitively expensive for 'normal' boats, we anchored in a quiet little cove just before Saint-Tropez. Nice view from this cove towards the city and the boats!

They say cruising is just fixing your boat in exotic places. From broken anchor winches and dinghies to stitching sails and repairing toilets, here is a taster of some of the jobs we’ve tackled in the last year... So if you're dreaming of sailing off into the sunset, watch this before you buy a boat... Turquoise water, palm trees, dolphins... and diesel leaks.When our fuel tank sprang a leak, Timo decided to learn how to weld plastic so he could repair it. Magical sunrises, peaceful mornings... and oil leaks. Over the past year, we've resealed our fridge, fixed the kitchen counter, and repaired the oven door.We also had to replace both our outboard and dinghy. We were very lucky to find this second-hand dinghy — even if it meant sailing 100 nautical miles in the wrong direction (and back!) to pick it up. We've ripped sails—and stitched sails. We installed and modified starlink and made a new double bed. We've repaired our damaged paddleboard, the autopilot, and even the damper plate between the engine and gearbox. But sadly, we weren’t so successful with the generator or the watermaker. The to-do list never ends—but neither do the rewards.
