In this episode we get down to some boat work in the marina, including: - removing the swim platform locking mechanism from the hull, to prevent water ingress; - removing the Single Sideband (SSB) radio installation. Then it's time to do a bit of touring on the Phuket peninsula by land, after having toured the surrounding islands by boat. This included visiting the Chalong buddhist temple, the Old Phuket night market, and the Siam Niramit show. Finally, we attend a marine training course, called STCW 2010, which is a basic course of training for commercial crew, and includes firefighting, first aid, security awareness, and lifesaving equipment like use of life rafts. I catch the morning ferry out of San Pedro outside Los Angeles CA in late March. After I arrived, I set up camp and took in the cool breeze and unique atmosphere of Catalina. I went snorkeling and a neighboring campsite offered up some fresh caught Halibut. The Cat Harbor Overlook trail was challenging and rewarding. Check out Catalina Island Two Harbors.

Le Grand Remplacement des Membranes Rainman. Après sept ans de bons et loyaux services, il était grand temps de s'occuper de notre cher dessalinisateur Rainman à bord de Sea Pearl. Et quoi de mieux que de le faire ici, à Tahiti, où l'eau est turquoise mais les prix, eux, sont carrément salés ! Changer les deux membranes du Rainman, Et très facile quand on sait l'importance vitale de cet équipement sur un bateau ⛵. Sans eau douce, l'aventure prend vite des allures de survie ! L'opération a commencé par le démontage méticuleux de l'ancien système. Chaque vis, chaque raccord, tout devait être manipulé avec soin pour éviter les mauvaises surprises. Les anciennes membranes, usées par des années de production d'eau douce pour nos douches, notre cuisine et nos besoins quotidiens, ont été retirées avec une certaine satisfaction. C'était un peu comme dire adieu à de vieux amis qui avaient fait leur temps.🍴 Puis est venu le moment de l'installation des nouvelles. Des membranes flambant neuves, luisantes et prêtes à relever le défi de nous fournir de l'eau douce. Le processus est délicat, chaque membrane doit être insérée avec précision dans son logement, les joints bien en place pour garantir une étanchéité parfaite. Pas question d'une fuite ici, à moins de vouloir transformer notre carré en pataugeoire ! Le remontage s'est fait sans encombre, chaque raccord resserré avec la juste tension. Le moment de vérité est arrivé lorsque nous avons remis le Rainman en marche. Le bruit familier de la pompe s'est fait entendre, et après quelques instants, l'eau claire et fraîche a commencé à couler. Un sentiment de soulagement et de satisfaction nous a envahis. Mission accomplie !👌💪👌 C'était une journée bien remplie, mais la tranquillité d'esprit de savoir que nous avons de nouveau un dessalinisateur au top de sa forme n'a pas de prix. Surtout ici à Tahiti, où chaque goutte compte, et où l'autonomie est la clé pour profiter pleinement de la beauté de ces îles. Sea Pearl est fin prêt pour de nouvelles aventures, avec de l'eau douce à volonté !😉
