Because of my bad back I had to leave my battery on the boat. A few weeks later I return to find the connectors submerged in the water and they literally electrolyzed away. Will the battery be OK? So being super careful I get some new connectors on the battery and sort it out. In this episode we rent a car and make a roadtrip to the caves in Nerja famous for its ancient cave paintings 20 000 years old and the world's largest stalactite 32 meters high! then we drive up in the mountains of Sierra Nevada. After that adventure it was time for us to continue to Aguadulce to pick up our friends Per and Annette that are going to sail with us to Garrucha. Both are experienced sailors but they have never seen dolphins that plays at the bow, can we fulfill the dream of seeing dolphin bowriders? We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

Latest hull build and infusion

The nine teams competing at the 44Cup Puerto Calero will include the RC44 ‘black boat’, which is regularly lent out to those looking to join the circuit or local teams. At the helm will be businessman Laurent Déage who has over 40 years of racing experience in the Med from one design to IRC boats. Déage will be joined by longtime friends Jean-Philippe Gallois on the mainsail and Fabrice Blondel who will be in the pit. The all French crew is headed up by talented tactician Sébastien Col, whose wealth of experience in highly competitive racing circuits will be key to their success.

We hiked up the Pico Branco. Last time we did this hike was in the summer. The difference is not only that is blowing really hard this time, but also the difference in colors. Like many places around the world, Where we come from in the Netherlands, flowers normally start blooming in the spring and the land is turning green. Staying this way throughout the summer. In the autumn leaves in the trees change colors and fall off. In winter the landscape is bald and brown. In Porto Santo, it’s the other way around. In the summer everything is dry and brown and in the winter it’s getting greener after every rain shower. The little yellow flowers buttercup oxalis are everywhere. Look for the differences. Bei besten Segelbedingungen auf der Ostsee vor Warnemünde führte der Kurs bei Ostwind von der Mole über Wilhelmshöhe zur Reedetonne und wieder zurück. An der Hafeneinfahrt sorgten wartende Schlepper für zusätzliches maritimes Ambiente. Entweder kam uns die Kursetzung entgegen oder die verbesserte Segelabstimmung verhalf uns trotz (korrigiertem) Frühstart zum ersten Tagessieg der Saison. Die Abwesenheit einiger Regattateilnehmer aufgrund der parallel laufenden Deutschen Doublehand Meisterschaft im Rahmen des Blueribboncups von Kiel nach Aarhus sollte hierbei auch nicht unerwähnt bleiben.
