Trois jours de navigation intense pour rejoindre Santa Catarina, au sud du Brésil. 72 heures où la météo a décidé de nous offrir… tout le catalogue : calme plat, rafales, vent de face, vent arrière. Résultat : on rame, on s’épuise, on rigole jaune, et on avance quand même. Entre coups de vent imprévus, fatigue accumulée et paysages incroyables, cette traversée nous a testés, mais elle valait le détour.

🚽 Aujourd’hui, j’étais partie pleine d’entrain pour installer ma nouvelle toilette flambant neuve à bord… mais (évidemment 😅) rien ne s’est passé comme prévu ! À peine arrivée, j’ai commencé par démonter l’ancienne toilette — et rien que ça, ça m’a pris un temps fou 😬 Entre les vis récalcitrantes et les recoins improbables, c’était déjà toute une aventure ! Et comme tant qu’à faire, je voulais repartir sur une base propre, j’ai enchaîné avec la peinture 🎨 : grattage des vieilles écailles, ponçage, rebouchage des trous, masquage, peinture… ça prend du temps ! SailGP finally got to land in South America, with the inaugural Rio Sail Grand Prix taking place over the weekend. The debut was supposed to be in 2025, but after the collapse of the Australia team's wingsail in San Francisco, structural improvements were needed throughout the entire fleet and it was judged that they couldn’t complete the work in time for the Brazilian event that year. There’s no doubt that Rio pulled out all the stops for the event, and the grandstand was buzzing with the famous samba atmosphere. SailGP has been revolutionary for sailing in many aspects, and provides a visual spectacle unlike any other in the sport. Seeing the fleet of thirteen F50s racing (the fourteenth, the New Zealand Black Foils, are having a new boat built after their catastrophic collision) is impressive regardless of whether you’re a sailor or not. The problem with ‘Grandstand’ sailing though, is the race area is defined well in advance of the event, as it has to take place in front of the spectators, regardless of the prevailing conditions. This is where the conflicts between sport and entertainment become complex, and with SailGP, it is the entertainment which is winning out. To purists, this is an anathema: Sailing should always be on as fair a racecourse as possible, and if the fleet needs to go offshore to get an even wind, then so be it. But let’s get this straight, SailGP is an entertainment product. Fair is very low down in the priority list for a venue, and well behind getting a suitable location for the spectators, corporate hospitality, and iconic backgrounds. For the TV producers, having Sugarloaf Mountain and the 30-metre tall Art Deco statue of Christ the Redeemer framing the fleet is the priority, regardless of whether half the fleet is in full send mode and the others are wallowing in no wind. Raid côtier à partir de 12H45 Si le vainqueur du Tour de France à la Voile 2016, Nicolas Troussel (Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne) et Jean-Christophe Mourniac (Grandeur Nature Véranda) vont se livrer à une lutte sans merci pour la conquête de la deuxième place. L’autre match marquant opposera Team Lorina Mojito – Golfe du Morbihan à Team France Jeune pour la conquête du titre Jeunes et amateurs. Le parcours : 30 milles nautiques sont annoncés. Départ au large de la Promenade des Anglais, côté est, avec comme points de passage le Cap Ferrat et l’aéroport de Nice, à l’opposé. Deux pièges locaux à éviter : le passage des ferries vers la Corse, nombreux en cette période, et la zone de l’aéroport. Depuis 1978, des milliers de régatiers ont découvert les côtes françaises, ont été refoulés par les courants de la Manche, ont demandé leur position aux pêcheurs bretons ou se sont fait coucher par du Mistral. D’une joyeuse course-croisière, le Tour de France à la Voile est devenu une belle école de course au large pour de nombreux équipages amateurs et jeunes marins talentueux, puis une compétition de haut niveau avec la présence de grands champions. Le Diam 24 marque le début d'une nouvelle ère sur le Tour de France à la Voile. Dans la droite ligne des bateaux précédents, le Diam 24 est un monotype mais il est le premier trimaran à être choisi comme bateau du Tour.
