This week we turn our attention to Tadpole, our smallest boat in the fleet. I have a new larger , more powerful pump that should inflate her even faster than before and in this video we see if we can break any records! We also find a leak so we search Tadpole low and high for that until we eventually find it. Enjoy! 00:00 Testing the new pump 09:44 Checking the repairs 12:55 Washing her down 13:54 Finding the leak! 🌐 My new website: https://sailingwithdave.com ❤️ Comments are open, ask anything you want in the comments section! 📢 If you enjoyed this video, then please don't forget to share and let people know about the channel 🔔 Click here to "Subscribe" and never miss a video: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZVuUVKKtVxulmgL3WzejjQ?sub_confirmation=1
Shaima's return from Asia to the Americas was done via the 40 to 60 degrees North latitudes route during the month of June of 2024. About 10 sailboats left Hokaido bound for the Alaska in early June forming a rally of sorts sharing information via Watsapp/Starlink. The route starts normally heading NE until reaching the Aleutians and Westerly winds where the heading slowly turns East. This year however we found westerlies far and apart and mostly Easterlies and NE in between, making the route harder and longer. Being one of the more challenging ocean crossings we were ready for strong winds and cold weather, that we encountered along the way. Watch this video and you will see how Shaima and its crew confronted the challenges of the high latitudes Pacific Ocean along the way to Alaska
In this video we review Gottifredi Maffioli Swiftcord rope which we sell here at Sailing Chandlery in 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm and 10mm thicknesses. This is an excellent premium rope product which is a mix of a single braid Dyneema SK78 rope with a special non slip fibre weaved together into a rope with no core, also known as a hollow braid. Because the rope is hollow braid it means you can taper into it, feed dyneema up the core, add an eye splice and much more. Our host, Charlie Enright, speaks with three female skippers competing in this edition of the Vendée Globe - frontrunner Justine Mettraux, and multi-race veterans Sam Davies and Pip Hare. These women are the best of the best and an inspiration for all young offshore sailors. The Vendée Globe has a rich history of showcasing exceptional female talent, beginning with trailblazers Isabelle Autissier and Catherine Chabaud in the 1996-97 race. Chabaud became the first woman to complete the “Everest of the Seas,” and since its inception in 1989, the race has featured 12 women across 15 starts. This year, six women, including 23-year-old Violette Dorange—the youngest skipper ever—are competing. In this episode of Loft 57, Mettraux shares her record-breaking pursuit, Davies discusses her top-15 standing, and Pip reflects on overcoming a dismasting. The Vendée Globe, often called the “Everest of the Seas,” is a solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation. Starting and finishing in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France, it challenges sailors to navigate treacherous waters around Antarctica and the three great Capes without external support—an unparalleled test of endurance and skill. Celebrate the race’s 10th edition with Loft 57 as we explore why the Vendée Globe holds legendary status in France and beyond. The 2025 iQFOiL International Games got underway today at Marina Rubicón, marking the first official races of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle. It was a day of challenging conditions for the 100 athletes from 26 nations, as the wind played a central role, testing both competitors and the Race Committee. From strong breezes reaching 20 knots in the morning to light and shifty winds in the early afternoon, back above 20 knots with big sea state later in the day, the racing demanded in Lanzarote big adaptability from the athletes. 👉🏻 #lanzaroteiqfoilgames #lanzarotesailingcenter #LanzaroteToLA28 #marinarubicon #LanzaroteAUniqueIsland #LanzaroteSports #iqfoilclass 👈🏻 @cabildodelanzarote @turismolzt @lanzarotesd @realfederacioncanariadevela @dinghycoachc@olympics @worldsailingofficial @iqfoilclass Follow us 🌍⛵on: Facebook ➡️ https://www.facebook.com/lanzarotesailingcenter Instagram ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/lanzarotesailingcenter/
