Soon I will be sailing solo across the North Pacific, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and I am going to be on the lookout for Nurdles! They sound and look cute, but in fact, they are anything but. As lightweight building blocks for the Plastic product industry, they often get lost in transport. 250,000 tons a year find their way into the world's oceans. I am going to join the Great Hurdle hunt and send my data to, Fidra, an organization in Scotland who is gathering detail about Nurdle concentrations and hot spots. Currently, only California names Hurdles as a pollutant so data will help other governments around the world and companies to do the same. Already through the work of, petrochemical companies are improving their methods of packing and shipping to avoid loss. The RMYC Sailing School was present in full force in Mellieħa at the annual Euromed International Regatta, sponsored by Mapfre and supported by Yachting Malta. Stars of the show were Jacob Carl Delia, who finished in third place in the Optimist Beginners’ Class. Jacob won four of the eleven races won, which was very positive considering his lack of experience when compared to the other sailors. In the ILCA Class 6 Dimitris Vertsonis also took third place. On the first day mast damage forced him to retire but made up for it on the second day when he won all four races. In ILCA Class 4, RMYC Ladies Lara Merten and Sophie Vilette finished the Regatta as first and third female respectively. Thank you Malta Young Sailors Club for hosting us!

I cut out a new door for the battery box thats on the front and looks very promising. While the epoxy is curing I set about getting the final screws and holes sorted on the spars. In this episode we are having a really good time, we have several great sails first when we sail from Formentera to Ibiza where we stays in a beautiful anchorage with a fantastic sunset then we have a great crossing to Santa Ponca on Mallorca. This episode contain lots of sailing and show the bright side of cruising life. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

We must head north and return to Nassau to pick up a part for our sail drive. While we are there, we plan to do some heavy provisioning. We also plan to stop by the boat store for some odds and ends and some fishing supplies. #Lagoon440 #bahamas #boatlife
