Howdy folks — Mark here from Nomad Boatbuilding. Wooden boatbuilders are often called craftsmen, artists, or engineers — but most days, I feel more like a problem solver. In this video, I tackle a tricky challenge: fiberglassing a glued-lapstrake wooden hull using WEST SYSTEM epoxy products. Lapstrake planking has deep ridges and overlaps that make traditional fiberglassing nearly impossible. My solution? Applying fiberglass tape to each plank individually and finishing it with peel ply (release fabric) to speed up the process and improve the finish. Noch einmal günstig tanken und weiter geht's, wieder mit einer Nachtfahrt nach Portimão an der Felsalgarve. It is the end of October and a heatwave has southern Europe firmly in its grip. We sail from Almerimar for a day and a night to Gibraltar, where we anchor at La Linea. The wind changes direction and we tack to the other side of the bay. In Palmones, we take advantage of the short distance to the industrial estate to stock up on supplies. We fill up with fuel at a good price once again and continue on our way, sailing through the night to Portimão on the rocky Algarve coast.

Windy is the best way to describe the ascent up the paved Makapu'u Lighthouse Road Trail. We got lucky with warm weather and sunny skies. It had rained for about three days straight prior to our trip. We still had a great turn out for this 3 and a half mile hike located on the eastern side of Oahu overlooking the Molokai Channel. Whales breached and played close to shore, kayakers were spotted, a geocache of hidden goods were found, and we all but got lost heading out of the Dragon's Nostrils. The sunburn was well worth it.

DIY CUPID'S BOW COOKIES (00:06) - red construction paper - scissors - soft cookies - paper straws - hot glue gun Cut out triangles to be arrow tips / tails using red construction paper and scissors. Push cookies onto a paper straws. Use hot glue to attach the tips / tails to the straw ends. Serve as party food or wrap two in cello bags for DIY valentines for the class. DIY HEART HAND CARD (00:51) - red construction paper - pencil or pen - scissors Fold construction paper in half. Place your hand or a baby's hand on the folded edge of the paper so you thumb and index finger are on the fold (these will be your heart points, do not cut); trace around your hand. Cut out the hand but NOT the ends of your thumb / index finger on the folded edge. Make the cream filling: With a mixer on medium speed, be a the cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. 4. Make the rolls: Unroll the pizza dough on a cutting board. Pat to make sure it's even. Spread the cream cheese filling on top of the dough, stopping 1 inch away from the edges. Top with the berry filling, leaving the same gab around the edges. 5. Roll of the dough into a log and cut into 2-inch-thick rounds. Arrange in the prepared pan and brush with melted butter. Bake until puffed and golden, about 15 minutes. 6. Meanwhile, whisk the confectioners' sugar and grapefruit soda in a bowl until smooth. 7. Remove the rolls from the oven and let cool in the pan at least 5 minutes. Top with the glaze. In this episode, we settle into daily life aboard with a schedule of school, boat work and fishing. We celebrate Adler’s 6th birthday with two great adventures (we try to give experiences rather than gifts like toys). We went fossil hunting on the Peace river and we went on a fishing trip in the canal between Estero Island and the reserve (thanks to Grandma Kathy for this one!) Fossil Hunting We went fossil hunting with Fred Mazza at Paleo Discoveries. We paddled up the Peace river in canoes and spent hours digging in the river bed for fossils. Gabby found a megaladon tooth and we found many more fossils including shark teeth, sting ray teeth, turtle shell bones and more! Ryan from Goodtime Charters was a great captain.
