We then head to the "rocky dundas", at high tide, and try to get through the underwater entrance to an awesome cave in the rocks, before we run into problems, anchoring under sail in light winds - and Cody has to step up his underwater workout game...! We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

Our first Bahamas trip and dealing with Customs, low on fuel and a super busy channel in Nassau. What do you do when it’s busy? That’s when you enjoy music. One of our first favorites is navigating to a prime snorkeling spot and reaping its rewards. She was custom built by Palm Beach Marine (Mark Richards of Palm Beach Motor Yachts) in the old boatshed on Illuka Road in Palm Beach and launched in 1998. The build is all composite and only the best of equipment used to complete the project including carbon fibre mast and boom. The design is modern with fin keel and lead bulb, spade rudder and modern convieniences such as electric winches and furling sails, but all in classic style above the waterline! She is a dream to sail, perfect for a twilight race with friends, a family day cruise and has very comfortable overnight accomodation for a couple. Perfect! This timeless yacht is a head-turner wherever she sails and a very unique opportunity.

After a few days at Beaufort, NC, it was time to continue to make our way south. We needed to be at Key West by Thanksgiving and the weather is a big wild card. From Beaufort, NC, we head to Charleston, SC and spend a few days exploring the city. We would have stayed longer and, in fact, I expect we'll be back to Charleston again. However, we had a nice few days of a weather window to keep making our progress south before it looked like we'd be held up for the better part of the week. At Hilton Head, we spent a lot of time exploring the island and I finally got around to installing the dual rope clutches on both the Port and Starboard so we could finally fly our Parasail. Hilton Head to Fort Pierce was a long passage which, unbeknownst to us, had us rounding Cape Hatteras around the same time of a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch. There was a lot of sleep-deprived, late-night drama with that. We made a separate movie on the launch, check it out. Fort Pierce to Key Biscayne was some good sailing, but the seas started to kick up a little bit. We finally got around to turning into the Key Biscayne channel to anchor off of No Name Harbor. It was about 2:30am or so when we finally dropped anchor and was able to catch some Z's. Approximately 750nm or so but the bulk of our miles were behind us. The remainder of the trip down to Key West should only be about 6 hour days from anchorage to anchorage. Toutefois, l’objectif était là encore, dès le départ, de proposer une version flybridge, un élément qui donne une tout autre stature au powercat. Le 53 est par ailleurs une évolution du 50, qui a rencontré un joli succès. Vu de l’extérieur, l’Iliad 53S flattait déjà l’œil. Nous avions apprécié les étraves droites et fines et la belle hauteur sous nacelle. La timonerie, dont la hauteur n’est pas excessive, procure au catamaran un look sportif, un peu félin, à la manière d’un coupé sport automobile. La version F reprend quasiment à l’identique l’ensemble de la partie inférieure. Toutefois, le flybridge donne à l’Iliad 53F un statut de catamaran 100 % croisière tout en augmentant considérablement l’espace de vie à bord. Configurable à souhait, l’Iliad 53F peut par exemple embarquer un système d’alimentation électrique secondé par des panneaux solaires avec un pack de batteries lithium 24 volts. S’appuyant sur une coque à semi-déplacement, le powercat est proposé en standard avec deux moteurs Volvo de 440 CV ou deux moteurs Yanmar. Une mécanique qui lui permet d’atteindre 21 nœuds et surtout, en régime de croisière, de profiter d’une autonomie jusqu’à 3 000 milles nautiques !
