At 3 in the morning whilst at sea a vessel charges at us... Pirates? What do you do? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are faced with every sailors worst nightmare. We are under sail on passage miles off the coast when a vessel charges straight at us. We gybe, change course and the vessel does the same thing and continually charges straight at us... What do you do? Pirates? We have been sailing in Indonesian waters for the past 5 months and have now over the last 2 years sailed all the way through the Indonesian islands from East to West. We have not feared pirate attack, but should we have? Lets discuss this situation and we would love to hear what you would do if in the same situation... With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we are returning to Thailand in the coming months and then taking the northern route of the Indian Ocean to the Andaman islands and onto Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trades begin again! The adventure is just beginning! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! We finally get to set the spinnaker, running off the coast of Africa towards South America under full sail, but while grabbing some epic drone footage, we encounter a big problem and Kate gets sliced by the drone! #sailing #yacht #spinnaker #drone #howtosail More about us at www.sweetruca.com It feels so good to finally set our spinnaker on our way to Argentina. Things are going well, but there are a few problems. We have noticed a problem with our masthead wind data, which is causing our new B&G H5000 autopilot to steer erratically and even try to crash gybe us. We are investigating, but in the mean time, the conditions were just too good not to fly our two favorite toys, the G3 cruising spinnaker and the DJI Mavic Pro in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Lets go sailing! So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing. Of course also Delos and La Vagabonde. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Repair, filling large hole in fiberglass on boat. I removed several old gages and filled the holes using MAS Epoxies. I tried two different methods. Both worked well, but I like the seconded best, it did not take as much time or material.

We got a chance for a private showing shortly after and with our cameras in tow, we went through her from stem to stern. This particular model is laid out for the charter set, which manifests itself in her many entertainment features and, of course, the fact that the crew and guests are kept discreetly separated throughout the beautiful yacht. But what is probably the most notable stamp of approval is that her new owner is a four-time Hargrave customer. They must be doing something right.
