From the 23rd to the 25th of June Cantiere del Pardo celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in Portopiccolo. The event began on Friday with an exquisite gala dinner that gathered the whole Cantiere del Pardo Family: Grand Soleil Yachts, VanDutch Yachts and Pardo Yachts. On Saturday, sailors raced the special edition of the GS Cup and Vintage Cup, while VanDutch and Pardo's owners participated in the first-ever Water Rally. On Sunday, Grand Soleil concluded the celebrations with the last day of sailing and awards. Thank you to all sea lovers who took part in this very important milestone. It was an honour to celebrate this occasion with Cantiere del Pardo's family. Here's to the next fifty years!

We head off for a walk out in the countryside near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. On the way out to the Battery Point Breakwater Lighthouse we walk on a trail through a salt marsh and pass by a young deer that is quite tame! Before reaching the lighthouse we enjoy the stony beach on the Lunenburg Bay. At the end of the video I added a few clips of one of my favourite day sails. Hope you enjoy it! Nach langer Wartezeit auf Ersatzteile auf der Ile d'Yeu hat uns das französische Festland wieder. Saint Gilles Croix de Vie statten wir nur einen kurzen Besuch ab, dann geht es weiter nach Talmont Saint Hilaire. Dort genießen wir einige sonnige Tage und warten auf den passenden Wind, bevor wir uns nach einer langen Zeit in Frankreich erneut über Biskaya auf den Weg nach Spanien machen. Delphine begleiten uns an allen Tagen, an einem sehen wir sogar in der Ferne einen Wal springen (leider war keine Kamera zur Hand). Natürlich passiert wie immer etwas, in der ersten Nacht reißt das Beiboot von seiner Halterung, am darauffolgenden Tag brechen Mastrutscher bei schlagenden Segeln. In der 2. Nacht zeigt uns die Biskaya erneut wieso sie als unberechenbar gilt, der Wind nimmt stetig zu...

This catamaran has been designed to satisfy both owners and charterers with layouts incorporating 3 to 6 cabins. The 52 retains the watertight forward door introduced in 2010 but features a fully open saloon and aft cockpit. Efforts have been made to optimize performance with a 17% increase in sail area compared to the 50 and a slightly lower weight (around 183 lbs/83 kg less). In terms of price, it’s a bit the opposite: €30,000 more compared to the price of the Leopard 50 at the end of 2024 – but then you do gain two feet! It will feature the Forever Green label in our upcoming Buyer’s Guide, as owners will benefit from integrated solar panels (1,600 Wp) on each boat, a lithium battery bank, and the Joool electric propulsion system already available on the Leopard 46. We had incredibly calm conditions when we set off from Minerva Reef but finally the winds are starting to fill in. While the waves are still pretty small, we can make the most of the time and sew together our NZ courtesy flag but it's not long before the squalls start to roll in and we see our first equipment failure on the boat. We are praying that things don't get as bad as the forecast implies because this part of the ocean is known for being pretty rough, but fingers crossed we can hold on long enough to all arrive in one piece. This is Part 1 of our 463nm (82hr) Sydney to Gold Coast catamaran delivery. When our good mate Jim asked us to help deliver his new catamaran, Pirate Pete, from Sydney to the Gold Coast, we didn’t hesitate. None of us had sailed this stretch of coastline before, so it was the perfect opportunity to level up – new waters, proper offshore miles, night sailing practice and a chance to explore more of the NSW coast. We departed from Sydney Harbour, cruised under the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and gave a nod to the Opera House, then slipped through the Sydney Heads to our first stop in Pittwater for a short sojourn. From there, it was a 121 nautical mile leg to Port Stephens before setting off on the long 342nm stretch north to the Gold Coast. In total the trip was 463 nautical miles over 82 hours at sea. There’s something about pushing into unfamiliar waters that sharpens you. Long night watches. Coastal traffic. Weather windows. Fatigue. Teamwork. And that quiet satisfaction of helping a mate bring his new boat home. This one tested us – and taught us plenty. Thanks for watching.
