Early autumn ride on an Aprilia SXV 450. One of my last rides of 2020. Since the last video the bike was upgraded with the arrow underseat titanium system and Alice Racing mapping with XV Tuner. One of the last rides for a while actually, since I broke my back in an unfortunate accident at work (not bike related). I'm currently in a wheelchair, but I can walk decently with support. Right now it looks like I'll be able to get back on a bike normally someday, maybe in a year, only time will tell. Spinal cord injuries heal slowly and unpredictably. If not, then I'll get back on a bike some other way. Where there's a will there's a way. I'm actually doing very well. While the situation sucks of course, it's also been very eye opening and made me appreciate many things in life, especially these memoirs. I still have some untouched footage to work through of my last SXV rides, some Daytona stuff as well in the archives. I meant to shoot some more with the triumph, but oh well, life got in the way. Oh, and if you've been thinking about getting a motorcycle? Do it, life is just too short and unpredictable.

Ten boats racing, pursuit start, about nine nautical mile race. Light winds, beautiful Texas day and a great time with the crew and the other racers. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

After the disappointing cancellation of the Helly Hansen Women’s Challenge at Manly in 2020, there was a strong fleet out on the water for Sunday’s running of the 2021 edition. This was the final race of the Sydney Harbour Women’s Keelboat Series, wrapping up the inaugural four-race season across four clubs on Sydney Harbour. Racing was conducted over two divisions using the PHS handicap and was split by a Female Helm subseries and an All-Female Crew subseries. Despite the deep chocolate colour of the water – a legacy of last weekend’s major storms - the breeze filled in to a steady 12 knots plus with perfect timing as the race got underway in bright sunshine. Leaving the start line off the Fairlight foreshore, the course took the 32 teams in various configurations to marks at South Head, Grotto Point and back to Manly, giving plenty of opportunities to test crew work for the Female Skipper and all Female Crews. Justine Anson on the TP52 Smuggler took out line honours. In the All-Female Crew section, Tracey Richardson and the crew onboard the Adams 10 No Friends took the Division 1 win from Corinne Feldmann and the crew on the MBD 41 The Banshee second and Pam Davis and crew on the Etchells Wildlife third. Division 2 was won by Wendy Tuck and her crew aboard the J/24 Pacatack while Jules Lawson and crew on the Force 24 Allsail/Aqualuna placed second and Robertina Varga and crew on the J/24 Innamincka was third. In the Female Helm section, Division 1 victory went to Nicola Wakefield Evans on the Seaquest RP36 Whistling Kite with Smuggler second and the Azuree 46 Kayimai helmed by Liz Charles coming in third. Division 2 was won by Johanna Adriannse on the Beneteau First 31.7 Pinta 11, while second went to Bridget Canham on the Payne 38 It Happens and third to Janette Syme on the J/24 Okavango Delta.

Jess enjoys her first circumnavigation of the delightful Isle of Sheppey, wearing her special sailing pyjamas. We set off from Queenborough on a sleepy summer's day in July 2020 for a gentle sail around the Island. It's around 30 miles to get all the way around the Isle of Sheppey. We managed it in around 7 hours mainly motor sailing and by working the tides in our favour. We sailed the Swale from West to East and then along the top home.

In mid-November, we set sail to cross the Bay of Biscay, a passage most sailors avoid that late in the year. It’s known for vicious storms and unpredictable weather, a real challenge for anyone sailing across Biscay. We expected the best but prepared for the worst, before leaving Camaret-sur-Mer for A Coruña. Zoé, our long-keel ocean cruiser, proved herself once again, covering the Bay in just 68 hours, flying fast with only the mizzen and genoa. Our friend Jaime joined us for this leg, always ready for a challenging sail and everything that comes with it.
