Miami was super fun! After enjoying the boat show and hanging out with friends in Miami, it's time to get going again. We started the week off in Biscayne Bay. Did some groceries and got ready to head off the The Bahamas once again! This was the last time that we'll be in the USA on our boat for a VERY long time. We sailed through good and bad weather, caught a few fish and finally made it to the beautiful blue waters in the Caribbean! In this episode, I decide, after putting it off for awhile, to take drastic measures to repair significant structural rot under the aft deck by demolishing it, to allow making repairs from above. I also decided, after a lot of hemming and hawing, to replace the teak-over-ply with solid planks, most likely made of black locust, and with a much simpler layout (even though the original design was lovely). Not an easy decision, and a lot of work, but it will make for a better repair, and I will have a nice new deck, good for another 50 years, maybe. The castle itself was one of the most advanced artillery fortresses and was built in 1544 by King Henry VIII as a means of protecting the solent. In the 17th century the castle was used as a prison, claiming King Charles the 1st as one of its prisoners. It was later strengthened during the 19th and 20th centuries and played an important role in defending the western Solent from invasion threats from the Napoleonic wars through to the second world war. The original castle is part of a chain of forts all along the southern coastline (as far along as Cornwall) to protect the country. Still not being cooled off enough, she took off her shirt to feel the full effect of the ocean breeze. It had been a while since the Hayabusa had been started and Steve decided it was time for a test drive. That baby started right up without any hesitation, so off he went. It always brings a smile to his face when he rides that machine. Beside dancing, cooking is another favorite activity on Isabella. Using our own recipe, we made ceviche with shrimp, Serrano peppers, fresh cilantro and other fresh ingredients. The taste was out of this world. Thank you for joining us on our adventure.
