And what's up with that collage? “I made this lith print in my darkroom, and cut it into pieces so I could dip them in different chemical toning baths to see how the paper reacted. You have to do this for every paper- and developer combination to know how to find a certain color again. I tried some of the many combos I use sometimes, with copper chloride, potassium ferricyanide, sepia toners, selenium, and blue toners in specific orders and concentrations. I also cut it around the centre so I could compare with the original tone. Hurricane Irma is coming up Florida now and wracking havoc along the way. We are likely going to avoid any damage and strong weather and may just see some rain and mild wind. We are lucky but our hearts go out to all of those in the way of this storm and the hundreds or thousands of people that have lost property in this storm. A great distraction to remove our being glued to the weather channel we got to meet with Mike and Nicole of the "Wanderer" which is the sister ship to DreamChaser. In Brunei's capital offers many great museums to visit! All free of any entry fees and very new and/or well kept. From shopping malls in Gadong, local markets, monuments, mosques to the Tasek Lama recreational Park, lots of small distance travel quite hard to do by public buses and quite expensive and difficult to do by different taxis. The best solution was for us to use a rental car and self-drive. Get glimpses of things to visit in BSB town. "Commissioning is probably the most critical aspect of buying a boat. It’s the difference between having a great experience as an owner and a not-so-good experience. It’s a process that really begins from the time of deciding what boat you want to buy, to working with our team to determine where you’re going to use the boat, what kind of cruising you like to do.. Are you going to be out there on the anchor a lot cruising in remote parts of the world? Are you going to be doing a charter business in the Caribbean? Are you going to be going up and down the East Coast? There are really so many different ways to use a boat and helping us understand how you want to use your boat so we can guide you to choosing the right options and equipment. But aside from that, it’s really the process of taking a product from the factory - they have the options installed, they’re sitting on jack stands in the yard there in Aigrefeuille or in La Rochelle… A lot of work has to be done - systems have to be checked, put together, assembled. We’ve evolved a lot over the years. We’ve been doing this a long time, we’ve learned a lot about the boats, we’ve collaborated well with the manufacturers, and learned really how to deliver a great product."

La marina est calme, les services au minimum (restaurant, épicerie, laverie, wifi). Le coût est raisonnable (hors réduction STW de 40%) 26€ par jour. Un petit shipchandler géré par un français est installé sur la marina, nous en avons trouvé un autre très bien achalandé à Cancela (sortie 14 vers Funchal, à 20mn) qui se nomme Nautica Madeira. Concernant les déplacements, les bus sont présents mais la location de voiture reste nécessaire. Le mouillage à Funchal est très rouleur, et il y est compliqué d'accoster. Le gasoil est nettement plus cher, nous avions anticiper en faisant le plein et les réserves à Lisbonne. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Webinar del dodecaneso partiendo de la Isla de Kos y visitando un conjunto de islas del Dodecaneso en total 7, tuvimos Maltemi como puede ser habitual en la zona todos los dias de 20.25 nudos pero se puede navegar con mucha facilidad sin problema. La gente muy amable, las tavernas increibles es una sensación de vuelta atras a los años 80 que por poco dinero puedes comer y cenar cerca del agua. La verdadque es un destino increible, en Patmos se puede realizar la visita al Monasterio de San Juan el Teólogo. Las islas visitadas en nuestro catmaran lagoon 450 del 2014 sin patrón fueron: Pserimos, Palionnisos, Leros, Stigma Archangelos, Lipsi, Apkoi y Patmos. 100% recomendable.....

Episode 032 Well, I think the title says it all. If we were to wait for favourable downwind sailing conditions, we would never sail anywhere in New Zealand! We've been told that our sailboat Tāiko was designed for upwind (winward) sailing and she sure is good at it. However, not all of us enjoy upwind sailing, especially in strong winds but we'll get there! From new experiences to meeting incredible people along the way, our life has been enriched in so many ways and makes us ever so more appreciative of our environment and the footprint we leave behind. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore.
