Finally, our journey continues. From Corsica, we set course for the northwest of Sardinia to start the jump to the Balearic Islands. Our friend Jan, with whom we want to continue our journey, is already waiting in a bay close to the beautiful town of Alghero. But on the way to the bay our autopilot goes on strike. Not bad for this day, but the 200-mile passage to Spain we would hate to do without the most important "man" on board. Somehow we lose sight of the problem, however, because there is reason to celebrate on board: Arzum and Cingene have birthday! On the way to Alghero we notice that our makeshift repair of the autopilot was only crowned with short success. Alghero, we have a problem. But we are lucky to find a specialist in Salvatore, who also has the right spare part, the flux gate compass. In good spirits we say goodbye to Sardinia and set course for the Balearic Islands. But then everything turns out quite differently.

There are three species of Mobula rays to encounter in the sea of Cortez; Mobula Mobular, Mobula Thurstoni, and the most famous Mobula Munkiana which we plan to spend hours snorkeling with, among other big animals like sea lions, dolphins, whale sharks, whales, and possibly orcas!

In dieser Folge wird das Oberdeck abgeschliffen und gespachtelt, sowie die Stressrisse oberhalb der Schottecken entfernt und die Stellen neu aufgebaut Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. An adventure worth watching in this 13-minute video! In his role as buyer's agent, Marina del Rey boater and yacht salesman Ray Ellis fulfills his client's request for a Lagoon 630 power catamaran. There's only one that fits the bill, a 2016 with an asking price equivalent to $1.9 million. "My client's instructions are: Buy it!" Ray transacts the sale, outfits the vessel, hires captain and crew, and manages logistics and delivery from the island of Martinique, across the Caribbean Sea, through the Panama Canal, then northward along the Pacific Coast to Costa Rica. This is a great travel adventure recanted well by Ray, who sums it up with the words, "we do it all." In this episode we completely loose the wind and scull 2 miles in the fog, to our anchorage behind Taylor Island. The next morning we carry on sailing to a very protected anchorage south of Clarks Island. We enjoyed exploring the rocky shoreline and Mark takes on some projects.
