Swedish VO65 Childhood 1, skippered by Bouwe Bekking, has taken Line Honours in the 2019 RORC Transatlantic Race. Childhood 1 crossed the finish line outside Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina, Grenada in an elapsed time of 11 days 11 hours 34 mins 49 secs. The International Maxi Association Secretary General, Andrew McIrvine, presented Bouwe Bekking and the team with the IMA Trophy for Monohull Line Honours in the RORC Transatlantic Race. With cold beers and big cheers Childhood 1 was welcomed by Charlotte Bonin, Marina Manager and the team at Port Louis Marina. James and I spent Valentine's Weekend at the Miami International Boat Show. As first timers, we didn't know what to expect! We chatted with vendors, scoped out some some neat gadgets, and left with a few items for Lost Cat. James even ran into an old friend at the Daiwa booth, who showed us the "Gucci" of fishing reels. Speaking of Gucci - my cousin Justin accompanied us and makes a guest appearance in the video. You can't miss him! We did stop to admire the brand new catamarans on display - but we didn't want to catch boat envy so we just did a quick lap! During that walk we came across our boatmaker - Voyage Catamarans - and chatted with their team. They were really nice people and put us in touch with the person that designed our boat. A great contact to have! We had hoped to run into some of our favorite YouTube sailors, but it seems the day we skipped (Saturday) was the day they all came out to play. In the end, we left the boat show with some new contacts and fun accessories: a swim step by Tower and binoculars from Sky Hawk. Both are California companies, which we were happy to support. July 30, 2020 In this episode, we show you what it's like to rescue a sailing vessel still attached to a defunct mooring, as Tropical Isaias hits us. Prior to this rescue, as the outer bands hit Luperon, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, several boats broke free from their mooring. The harbor community is amazing and many cruisers jumped in their dinghy's to offer help and rescue support. Tropical Storm Isaias made a direct hit on Dominican Republic's north shore, specifically Luperon. We rode the storm out which quickly became a Cat 1 Hurricane just west of us. Winds in the harbor ranged from 35kts consistently with gusts up to at least 59kts. SUBSCRIBE for more videos coming soon! Walkthrough of Seawind 1260 Imi Ola

These last two weeks have been hot hot hot! I've done some shopping for more DIY bits, cleaned and repaired the stove, removed some old silicone and putty from one of the window sills, and tried to get more of a breeze through the narrowboat. The UK is set to reach 40C this week so I've now abandoned the boat for a couple of days so I don't get heat stroke. Not going to lie - it's been tough on board these last few days! The exciting news this week is I've now got my new vacuum! I'll show you all in next week's video :)

#rorcracing #GentooSailingTeam #imoca Thursday, 16th March 2023 RORC London Clubhouse Royal Ocean Racing Club member, and aspiring Vendee Globe Sailor, James Harayda, is the latest speaker in the RORC Talk Series. The 25 year-old is a two time British Double Handed National Champion, racing with teammate Dee Caffari on Sun Fast 3300 Gentoo. In 2022, racing in the IMOCA Class, James Harayda completed the 3600nm Route Du Rhum solo race. As the youngest skipper, James came 14th in a world class fleet of 38 boats. James has an astonishing season planned for 2023 including racing his IMOCA Gentoo Sailing Team double-handed in the RORC Myth of Malham, Morgan Cup and the Rolex Fastnet Race. James will be competing in the full IMOCA Globe series, including, the Bermuda 1000, Défi-Azimut, Transat Jacques Vabre, and the Retour A La Base. In 2024, James will take on his first  'Everest of Ocean Racing', the 2024 Vendée Globe.

We start this sail from the bottom of the lake where the wind has formed almost a bay of Lee shore around our anchorage. The easy way out would be to drop the outboard in, but that's not the SWD way!!! So, we tack and tack and tack again until we're out and finally free from the cove. Just as soon as we're sailing we then run aground and Lulu's centreboard gets knocked off it's roller so it's stuck in position. We carry on though, beating all the way home in a very difficult, and quite frankly, tedious wind.
