We sail overnight and arrive to Aruba where we go through the different kind of clearance procedure. We're stepping foot on multiple million dollar yachts - and taking all their great ideas!! Annapolis Boat Show 2021 is in full swing, and just like any other visitor, Matt and I are there to talk to vendors and tour all the boats we wish we could claim as our own. But in honesty, we're still very excited to be working on the build of our own catamaran - just incorporating some design aspects of the higher end builds out there. At the Annapolis show, we try to tour as many catamarans as possible, gaining every idea of what we might like as a home builder. What we realized in the process, is that although the Outremer 45 is the closest to the Max Cruise in space and design layout (in the hulls), the Balance 485 and 526, as well as the Kinetic 54, are closest to the build materials we're using, as well as their minimalistic design. Take a tour with us as we walk through these different boats, and take away the things we would like to add to our catamaran build. We planned to head here for a quick visit to provision for the coming months and the Indian Ocean crossing as Langkawi is a tax free island and much cheaper than Thailand. Between Krabi where we left from and Langkawi our destination, we need to travel past the islands where we nearly lost Nandji. That horrific bight where a mooring we were on broke and Nandji ended up on the reef. We are only fresh out of the boatyard after completing extensive repairs and why not face our fears straight away and return to where it all went wrong. We have got unfinished business with a reef and it is time to settle the score and move onto the next chapter! We now have a new challenge, the Covid crisis to deal with!! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed on our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! The last piece of our rigging arrives in Grenada and I set off on the daily ferry to go and collect it. Having a lot of time to kill while waiting for the return ferry that evening, I got up to a bit of mischief... all in the name of giving back to the community! Once the rigging and myself were safely back in Carriacou the following day, we got straight to work putting it up. Docking has never been our strong suite and although Adam meticulously planned all the steps required to dock perfectly, it was still a bit of a disaster (insert footage of Khiara running around like a headless chicken). Thankfully installing our forestay went a lot smoother and one day later, we were out of there and ready to hit the road FINALLY!! The bulkheads in our Lagoon 450 just aren’t salvageable and the only way forward is to haulout and straighten our severely bent catamaran. @ParlayRevival helps me every step of the way—there’s no way this would be possible without them. Thank you Colin and Jamie for saving my catamaran! We straightened 15 tons of boat with some crazy techniques and it couldn’t have gone better! I was so incredibly stoked — it’s difficult to describe how great it felt to see the boat slowly shift back into its original form. The deck, walls, and woodwork all straighten out into their former glory. Thank you guys so much for your support and sorry for being so slow at editing these videos! At the finish of this 7.7 nautical mile Farkle race outside Dana Point Harbor in Southern California, Besamé Mucho gets tangled up with Tequila. It could have been much worse, as the tension from each boat tugged in seperate directions, entire rigs were in danger of collapse. Our gybe... and the boom smashing into the port side of the rig released Tequilas backstay which was already hooked onto the end of Besamé Mucho whisker pole. Tequila started the race 9:22 before Besamé Mucho (per PHRF rating) and we finished in a photo finish.
