We covered a general plan for the interior in a breezy way a few weeks ago in a bonus video (https://youtu.be/RDxneIM3M8c), but now that a few things are in place and the vision came into focus, Carolyn drew a scaled layout plan that is approaching some semblance of "complete." As she and Steve do a virtual walkthrough of the details... is that... A WORKBENCH?! Finally unboxing the head and the deck prisms was exciting. We are ever so thankful to the people who have been donating funds to the wish list and made it possible for us to receive key interior items just about on time for when we'll need them. We're working on a special interior project presently for which there are a few new things on the list. Check it out: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority Norna is a Danish-built, lapstrake, heavy-scantling cruising boat that our friends Kourtney Patterson and Pete Grundvig have been living aboard for the last 20 years. These Floridians have done a North Atlantic circumnavigation, and now they spend their summers in Maine. You might remember Pete and Kourtney coming to visit and help with Arabella when they've passed through on their way north or south—and it was Kourtney who burned Carolyn's dragon into the bilge stringers. Check out Kourtney's videos here: https://www.youtube.com/user/AccidentalSailorGirl They love their AirHead, and it was neat to see their installation and hear a few pointers from them... right on time. We hope you enjoyed this week's video, which is heavy on adventure. It is a sweet reminder of things to come, and all the places we'll take Arabella. Thanks for watching and for your support. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat Referral: Need something TotalBoat sells? Keeping Secrets is hard! Keeping the biggest secret of our Sailing Careers to ourselves is impossible. The question: What catamaran is Ruby Rose 2 going to be? We have so many questions and emails asking what we have chosen and when we are going to reveal our choice. Well today we are halfway there. Before we pop with excitement we are super, super excited to let you in on what we are doing for our next boat. It's epic, exciting and the most ambitious project we have EVER embarked upon! The next 12 months are going to be a whirlwind of information as we prepare to launch the first ever production boat designed by a naval architect with incorporated design features from a couple who sail and also own a YouTube Channel. In this episode we make the new installments on the rig so we can continue our sail to Portugal. While waiting for our sails to be ready, we make a visit to Vigo, Galicia's biggest city. Johan finish the installments on the mast and when everything is ready we sail the 25 nm to Portugal and arrive to Viana do Castelo in the evening. Viana do Castelo is a picturesque little town with pretty houses and Portuguese tiles. Soon we're in Lisbon! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. RV shows are great for several reasons, and if you are considering the RV lifestyle, it's the best place to start! However, if you aren't prepared....you could end up with blisters on your feet and no idea of what RV you want. To avoid this, follow these Do's and Don'ts: For more tips, visit our site www.gonewiththewynns.com The Do's: •Arrive with your goals in mind and/or written down. Know how you want to use your RV and where you will want to take it. Also, consider questions such as: Where you plan to store it? What's your budget (super important)? How do you plan to finance it? (if you are thinking of buying at the show, arrange financing ahead of time) •Comfortable Shoes are a must! Shows are big and can easily take hours to cover the entire show. •Check the show directory and schedule. Spend some time checking out all the cool gadgets and helpful seminars. •Ask questions! There will be dozens of dealers, manufacturers, representatives, expert speakers and of course fellow RV'ers. Take advantage and write a short list of your biggest questions. You don't want to forget when the moment arises. •Take a test drive, sit on the furniture, jump on the bed, pretend to cook a meal and take a shower! Check out everything! Most important, if you have found a top pick, test drive it. The Don'ts: •Don't wander into RV's that you would never consider buying. At least not until you have done what you came to accomplish. •Avoid impulse. Ask for a free return pass. The biggest mistake you can make is buying on impulse. The temptation to buy on the spot can be overwhelming but, the deal won't go away over night. •Don't go alone. If you have a travel partner, make sure they are involved in the decision process. •Don't settle. There are so many RV's out there and one will be perfect for you. If you're not 100%, walk away. Now that you know what to do, it's time to put your knowledge to work. Happy shopping! Did I miss anything? If you have "newbie" tips to share, post them in the comment box below.

Links & music credits in here: After a long patch of rough weather in the remote islands of the Tuamotus, the supply ship hasn’t docked for weeks and the fishermen have been rained off meanwhile. The presence of ciguatera poisoning riddling most of the fish in the atolls doesn’t help our case. Finding Avalon’s cupboards and bilges have never been more sparse. We sail to a quaint little island called Toau which has a false pass, creating a perfect little anchorage. We pull out the speargun and shoot some rather obscure fish, which we accompany with hand picked fruits that we never knew existed. What a hoot! Thanks for watching guys. Where have we been??? Well, the simple explanation is we had to fire up the afterburners on our necessary boat projects to be able to get in the water before the 15th, meaning no time for editing and minimal filming. Why before the 15th? The yard we were at decided to more than double the liveaboard fees with very little notice, basically forcing us out of there. We had to be in the water by the 15th because they were going to stop moving boats for the holidays and the new fees take effect Jan 1st. That was enough motivation for us to work all day and night in order to be where you see Freebie now in this video. We put together all the footage we had of the past few weeks to get you completely up to date. Going forward, we have much more time to spend filming, editing, and uploading to YouTube, so we'll be getting back to our normal schedule starting soon. Stay tuned! Getting in the water is a big step for us and the YouTube channel. There will still be lots of DIY, but the footage will be much more varied and will finally include sailing, electric motor testing, travel, diving, kiteboarding, fishing, etc. Link to Sailrite: https://www.sailrite.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthel... We’ve arrived at idyllic Elbow Cay, a Bahamian island with a little bit of everything: an adorable little town, a handful of surf breaks, showers, a coffee house, one nicely paved road, rum cocktails, and even a game of bingo. Of all these things, surf breaks have been the hardest to find. Finding a surf break is better than striking gold; catching a wave is pure joy. Kirk’s been on the hunt for waves since we left SoCal. The Bahamas aren’t known as a surfing destination, but we heard rumors a few waves could be found, so we embarked on a multi-day mission to find them. If there’s no waves to be found, skating a freshly-paved road with just the right incline is the next best thing. It’s also a great way to get yourself from A to B (i.e. from the dock to the beach bar 😉) Hope you enjoy! Lauren & Kirk FILMED: May 2019 *** THE ABACO ISLANDS, POST-HURRICANE DORIAN: This footage was filmed prior to the utter devastation wreaked by Hurricane Dorian in September 2019. Dorian hit the Abaco Islands as a category 5 hurricane, with sustained winds of 185 mph, flattening most structures and leaving 70,000 people homeless.

How is life aboard a sailboat during an offshore passage? In episode 14 you get to follow us along as we leave Lisbon for a 490 Nm downwind sail to the Madeira archipelago in the Atlantic. The voyage takes us 75 hours and we arrive to the wonderful island of Porto Santo. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us.
