Une performance d’exception, menée avec sang-froid et maturité, pour une navigatrice qui a su montrer qu’elle avait tout d’une grande ! 🇬🇧 Violette Dorange completed her first Vendée Globe at 10:39hrs (UTC) today, after 90 days, 22 hrs, 37 min at sea, to not only become the youngest ever finisher on the solo round the world race at the age of 23, taking 25th place, but in so doing, the bright, vivacious, talented young French sailor from La Rochelle achieves a major new pinnacle in a career which started with her sailing the English Channel and the Straits of Gibraltar in a tiny Optimist dinghy as a 15 year old. Yess we are doing a GIVEAWAY!! Win a full week on board of Messenger for 2 persons. check the details in/under Vlog 25 Our gopro fell in the water and sank all the way to the bottom, 10 meters deep where it stayed for more then 2 minutes. Hermen swam down and picked it up but there came salt water running out of it.. We dis-assembled it and now its about time to put it back together to see if its still working. We very much hope so, because otherwise we can't film the beautiful underwater world while snorkelling and diving... On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met.
