Her name is De Vrouwe Christina, and she's a giant work of art. My nerves for the Pacific Crossing (the 20-30 day’er) have been getting more and more intense. Most nights, for the past few weeks I have been having the most strangest dreams and unsettled sleeps. But I am really looking forward to the challenge of getting across such a large chunk of ocean! For the next week in Isla Isabella, we explore the beautiful island by bike and boat. We dive Los Tuneles which are a bunch of beautiful caves in shallow waters that are just FILLED with sea life of every kind. Couldn’t recommend the dive site highly enough, you can even take Grandma & Grandpa/toddlers!! I can’t name another spot I’ve snorkelled, where you can see all of these animals in above 5m of water. Next week, we prepare for the big crossing and wave goodbye to land for a few weeks….. I’m really looking forward to sharing this experience with you all. Cosa significa la parola “trim”? E’ un termine inglese che è diventato ormai di uso comune anche nel vocabolario italiano se si parla di aerei o di barche. Letteralmente ha 2 significati: se viene usato come verbo significa “regolare” (infatti anche in nautica se si vuol dire di regolare il trim del motore si può comunemente dire “trimmare”), se viene usato invece come sostantivo vuol dire “assetto”. Infatti il trim del motore serve proprio per regolare l’assetto del motore e di conseguenza per regolare l’assetto della barca in navigazione. D’ora in avanti sai quindi che se qualcuno ti dice di trimmare il motore significa di dover regolare l’assetto. I borrow a forklift, and then start the process of moving and restoring a massive vintage ship-saw – which is like a huge bandsaw but with a static table and a rotating cutting band. I am so thrilled to share this experience with you! 3 years ago I started this YouTube channel, because I wanted to make videoes about my sailing journeys around the cold waters of the North Sea. I couldnt find anything related to singlehanded winter sailing so I desided to start making it myself. Being inspired by a book and without any sailing experience or doubts holding him back he went looking for a small boat that fitted his budget. He found a Hurley 18 from 1970 for 3000 euro’s and bought it. After fitting it out for longer trips he drove it to Greece on a trailer and learned how to sail it with a friend. After sailing across the whole Mediterranean towards Gibraltar he felt ready to cross the Atlantic. Sailing all the way to Antigua from Lanzarote took him 30 days. And after some sailing in the carribean and some time back in Europe to work. He fixed up the boat again and prepared it for the upwind journey back towards Europe. As this adventure has come to an end Nico is working on his new adventure. Non stop around the world on a Class40 boat.
