Kevin talks about the different fins options for the MirageDrive and has some tips for helping you choose the best option for your Hobie. The standard fins come on most of the kayaks and offer good pedaling performance and are very easy to use. The ST fins are sold individually, can be easily installed on the standard mast and offer a performance upgrade if you're looking to either increase your speed or slow your pedaling cadence. The ST Turbo come as a kit that includes two fins and two longer masts. Turbo fins offer the highest performance when you're after maximum speed and they also offer the slowest pedaling cadence when you're just out for a cruise.

Launched by P&O on March 16th, 1960, SS Canberra was part of the last generation of ocean liners. Designed to carry migrants to Australia and New Zealand, she was immediately popular but by the 1970s, as the world rapidly changed, she adapted to the burgeoning cruise industry. A role she was surprisingly well suited for. In April 1982 she was requisitioned to carry troops for the Falklands War, a task that would take her to the middle of a war zone. Throughout her many years of service, she defied the odds and earned the love of passengers and crew alike. Harvesting knees for Arabella turned out to be MUCH more work than we ever thought it would be. In the last episode we gathered a couple of stumps but we still needed a little more and then it was time to tackle the job of cleaning them... not to mention freeing them from the clump of wood, dirt and rocks they made up. So we cleaned up the hole we made digging up the biggest stump, gathered one more stump and then got to work cleaning them up. The process involved a pressure washer, mattock, air chisel, chainsaw, wedges, sledge hammers, etc. Not a subtle process! We spent days getting them cleaned up and then started cutting wedges out slowly because of the rocks we'd hit. However slow it was, it was very worth it after seeing the first couple of knees we got out of them. As we were working, we also had to take a small break to fill up a shipping container with the donations for SAILCARGO! We finally got that shipped out and if all goes well, it should arrive right before we get to Costa Rica ourselves and we are so thankful and happy to be able to do this. Thank you to everyone that was involved and that sent in items to send down. We very much appreciate it and are so proud of the fantastic community that has grown around our project. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Only a couple more days to enter to win the hat signed by all the channels at Newport Boat Show. Just $5 a month gets you in the inner circle. https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella The molds for Victoria are up! https://www.youtube.com/c/TheArtofBoatBuilding We've got our diesel fuel tanks for this DIY wooden sailboat. We reclaimed them from a boat that was being decommissioned a couple of years ago. Grandpa gives them a good cleaning in the driveway before we start to install them. Meanwhile, Joe "the Machinist" puts more than a sparkle on the reclaimed bronze hardware from Victoria that will be used for the rudder assembly. Pintles and gudgeons are machined so they will receive plastic washers and bushings—this should decrease movement in the entire assembly. Anything that can reduce movement between fittings will ultimately lead to the whole thing lasting longer in the end. KP leads volunteers Ross and George as they get the house sides prepared for final installation. This means they'll need to smooth everything out and prepare the grub for glue. Steve finishes up the oak rudder to the point he can for now: this week it's putting in the rest of its lovely tapering shape, putting a couple of coats of finish on there, and cutting a marine propeller aperture we can improve upon when we get the real-life dimensions of the variable pitch propeller in place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a wooden boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur wooden boat builder building a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that classic wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY boatbuilding project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. 3 Benetti Superyachts you may never have heard of Anybody who has visited Benetti Yachts' production facility in Livorno can not fail but to be impressed by their mammoth capacity and incredible turnover of sizeable yachts. To keep such an organisation on top of it's game requires a constant research for new products and a keen eye on market trends. Benetti have certainly succeeded in regularly presenting the market with new models that have been proven to be popular by the numbers in which they sell. This video presents three of their most recent models, that you may not have heard of yet.

I re-mastered the audio of the this video and published a new version (YouTube doesn't allow replacing a video...). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9g2KNSQL3M&lc=z22hczealwr1ujxis04t1aokgjeto254swpgjlxwjiusbk0h00410 Although this video has hundreds of likes, some posters complained about the loud music, so I lowered the music volume in the re-mastered version. This was one of my first videos and I made it without a mic so there little audio commentary to hear...it isnt the fault of the music...sorry.

The lead keel is one of the most exciting parts of this build at the moment but it is also the scariest, by far! We have melted down some of the wheel weights and loose lead in order to weigh it, while talking about that, we weigh in on the actual pour. Also, a few updates at the end of the video. We hope you enjoy. Also, we will be showing a short film at the International Maritime Film Festival in Bucksport ME, the last weekend of this month (September 2017). We would love to see as many people as possible there! We'll be doing a Q and A and meeting up at the pub afterwards. El video doblado en español. Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 138 In this episode of our boat restoration, we try to draw our waterline! Seems like no big deal, but it was a huge one! As you probably know, Yabá was first built in a beach in Bahia in the most handmade and simple way possible, which means, we don't really have blueprints or technical information about her that could help us with this task. How do we know it's correct? We don't! We will only find out once we hit the water. So all that's left to do now is hope for the best! We really hope you find this process interesting as for us it was very enlightening. 👉 SUBSCRIBE to not miss out on the new episodes: https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR PROJECT: 👉 By becoming a patron - join to unlock exclusive content: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba 👉 Through Paypal donations: https://bit.ly/3kR4Ezo or sailingyaba@gmail.com 👉 By wearing our products: https://shopsailingyaba.com/ 👉 GET OUR FAVORITE TOOLS: https://www.amazon.com/shop/sailingyaba We are forever grateful to everyone that is living our dream with us ♥️ 🇧🇷 Legendas em Português em todos os episódos! 🇪🇸 Subtítulos en español en todos los episodios! 💙 Who are we? We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. More about us: 👉 About us + Q&A https://youtu.be/TldDlohjwTs 👉 more info about the project http://www.sailingyaba.com 💙 Massive thanks to our amazing team of carpenters that never let us down and continue to amaze us at every step of the process: Toninho, Zeca, Hélio, Claiton, William, Nezo, Nico, Adilson, Beto and Luiz. Following in the wake of her elder sister the Oceanis 46.1, this 40-foot cruiser, with a new hull design by Marc Lombard, offers unrivaled deck volume and interior space, with zero concessions to performance. The Oceanis 40.1 is available in different layouts, drafts and rig options, adapting to the most demanding sailor’s cruising requirements and satisfying their need for comfort and pleasure under sail. Learn More: https://www.beneteau.com/us/oceanis/oceanis-401 -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. The weather our here in western Massachusetts has been a bit wacky. Though colder days pushed off the possibility of gluing early in the season, we're now dealing with really hot days and thunderstorms—but that's not slowing us down as we scoot along planking on the port side of Arabella. The sheer strake is of locust, which is a strong, durable and very rot-resistant wood that will be perfect for the task of protecting a place on the boat guaranteed to see a lot of wear and tear when docking and boarding or disembarking. . Meanwhile, volunteers George, Tyler, and Neil work on cleaning up all the surfaces inside the hull in preparation for the next steps. They spent hours cutting back bolts and putting acorn nuts on them, sanding things smooth, and hopefully getting to oiling, though, that may wait till next week. We hope you enjoy this exciting moment and we thank you for joining us each Friday. There are so many ways to support the project, including sharing this video, which goes a long way to helping friends find us and others who are working in wood, boats, and big-scale DIY projects like Arabella. We'll see you next Friday! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Sign up to support these videos via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

Across the Atlantic by myself sailing on a 36'boat. Rain squalls and constant rolling seas are beginning to take their toll. Also in this episode, I perform my original song 'Devil and the deep blue sea' while to celebrate reaching the middle of the Atlantic. I'd like to mention that the 'Old Seadog' is now on Patreon and thank those who have supported the project. I'd also like to thank the nearly 2000 new subscribers that have joined the channel this month. Your support humbles me. Now on Patreon. Please checkout our page on the link below. https://www.patreon.com/Adventuresofanoldseadog Thank you for watching this episode of Adventures of an old Seadog, I hope you enjoyed it. A great deal of work and love goes into every video in the series. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. All of the ‘Seadog’ videos are available to watch on the ‘Barry Perrins’ channel on Youtube. For notifications on new releases please subscribe. Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. All music used in this series is original or, free to use, royalty free, used with permission. No copyright infringements intended.
