On a boat, this list can continue on forever, with the first project possibly needing attention again by the time you finish the last, continuing on in a vicious circle. This has held some sailors back from setting off cruising at all. For me, its easy to become obsessed with starting and finishing items on a list. I LOVE projects. Improving, upgrading, maintaining….I love solving problems and learning about how everything works because thats how I will fix it when it breaks. BUT, some things can just wait, and theres a point where you have to say enough is enough, lets go have an adventure and see what works, and what breaks. So get ready to tackle the punch list with us before we untie the lines and hit the ocean for our FIRST Boundless adventure. After deeming everything necessary done, sometimes you just have to go. Even if the sideways rain and ominous clouds make the beginning of this adventure feel more scary than exciting. Our last stop was the fuel dock to top up on diesel and Darryl the dock master at Shelter Bay rode his bike from our dock to the fuel dock to give us a hand. I think he could feel it too. Our nerves were palpable and although we were excited, the squalls around us and the feeling of being alone out on the ocean, even if it was just a small hop down the coast, made us feel VERY small. It was like we were doing this for the very first time. Forget any of the experience we had on Seawind or on any boat, our emotions got the better of us as we lined up with the channel, and felt the swell starting to push the boat around. Change is hard, and we have had a lot of change this year. But the foundation of our relationship was built on communication and honesty. Katy and I are constantly checking in with each other and we truly are going further together. As you adapt to change, the beautiful moments start to outshine the tough ones. Sailing teaches you that and this is a perfect example. Backing away from this dock, just us two with a beautiful sunrise over the jungle canopy is what I imagined the first time would be like. But as always, life doesn’t happen how you think it will and if you spend your days wondering why not, you will certainly miss out on whats important, which is the duality of life. You cant have one without the other. The hard days whether they are in your head or outside your body, will pass. Shit happens, but there are always brighter days coming. Enjoy! We are still pushing to get work done while we deal with figuring out what needs to be done to revamp the boathouse. We got another set of boards milled up for the last oak plank on the port side. As we are getting down to the last of the oak planking stock, we are getting to pieces with a couple more defects. Nothing that is concerning on unmanageable but nevertheless things that need to be dealt with properly. That means we fill in some bung holes in this plank. While working on this, we also get a huge addition to the boat yard. When we visited Ganon and Benjamin, they offered us their old 26 inch thicknesser. They had just received a larger newer one and this unit was pulled out of the way and waiting for a decision on where it should go. We gladly made the trip to go get it and brought them a couple of the knees we just freed as well as some oak boards as a thank you! And we have to say, we VERY much appreciate their generosity! Thank you! Now, we just need to figure out a power unit for this bad boy! I am sailing from Tenerife to Martinique across the Atlantic and am choosing the northern route because at the beginning a calm zone is predicted in the south. This cruise is characterized by strong winds and unstable weather over long stretches. Henry Jr. with this being one of the later models made out of fiberglass (most of them were earlier versions made out of wood). This little sailboat for sale was a family weekend/coastal adventure sailboat and was sailed right up until last summer when the family bought a slightly bigger boat to suit their needs. Her main engines and Generators are from Caterpillar and all are still under the manufacture warranty. The yacht has super economic fuel consumption, with 32,000 liter of fuel and at 8 knots SERENITAS can reach a range of 3,600 NM, enough to cross oceans. I have to admit, I am a huge fan of Holterman Yachts! The Bernd Weel design and amazing Dutch build quality makes them totally unique and extremely desirable. I flew to film this example on a lake in The Netherlands, but she shall shortly be relocating to Spain. Actually, she's just a great yacht WHEREVER you want to take her!

With the airports open, we find a flight and return to our floating home in the DR. She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Time to explore the hidden treasures of Fernando de Noronha! We start off by exploring Brazil’s most celebrated beaches. Feeling a pull to the ocean we long to breath underwater so we set off on a scuba diving adventure, and man was it a real treat! We had encounters with sharks, rays, and barracuda. Then, to top off an already incredible experience we scuba dive with something we’ve never, ever experienced before! I hope you have as much fun watching this video as I did editing it.
