I'm finally on my way west!! After a couple weeks of waiting for a package, watching the weather, and changing my plans quite a bit, I am finally pulling anchor and bringing the sails out! Steve made the last oak plank! Yes, we know, we've said it before (and might say it again... haha). But we are planning for this to be the last full length oak plank we put on the hull. After setting up our new planer with Joe and Grandpa, while I was in Costa Rica, it was now time to start getting us closer to our planking party. There was still one more plank to put on the boat before we could switch to cedar. So, getting this last one done will set us up well to be able to cruise into the cedar planking. These have been a lot of work. Much more than we anticipated and we are very happy to be almost done with them. They are heavy, difficult to maneuver and they can be tough to fair. We are very much hoping that the cedar planks will be much faster to work through. The wall furnace I have is a P9000 Newport Dickinson. It is a bulkhead mounted unit which keeps it out of the way and maximizes space in the main cabin area. Here are a couple specifications that might be of interest. Das Modell ist noch recht jung, gewinnt aber schon reihenweise die ARC+ beispielsweise. Ein wirklich spannendes Segelboot also, sowohl was das Geschwindigkeitspotenzial angeht, als auch das Raumangebot. Die Aufteilung hat einen ganz besonderen Punkt: die Eignerkabine ist oben im Wohnbereich integriert. Trimarane sollen ja das Beste aus beiden Welten - Mono und Kat - miteinander verbinden. We took off from Maldives to Seychelles crossing with our 2 buddy boats: Zatara and Rehua. It did not look like the perfect weather forecast, by any means, but the season for this crossing was about to close in Northern hemisphere... Therefore, we didn't know if there would be a better time to cross in the coming weeks... Well... to say the least - it did not go well... We have never run so many fuel calculations, measured our speed, RPM, and burn rates for the slightest improvement in economy... We just HAVE to make it! See it for yourself! We do finally land in the Seychelles, at Victoria, but only on FUMES. But, a bit more fuel onboard than one of our buddy boats that left the Maldives with us!
