On fall days, the wind blows out of the east in San Francisco, bringing with it smells of Fall foliage, fireplaces, and a dry chill in the air. It's on days like that we enjoy sailing in what feels like a whole new place. We get to go up-wind towards Berkeley, and fly spinnakers towards the gate. Not only that, but with the king tides, we see currents rushing huge logs downstream and out the gate, to the point where we're on constant lookout for pilings, sheets of plywood (yes, we've seen that), and rebar (a running joke at my expense, but I swear it looked like rebar at first glance!).

Ep 66 – Repowering the boat to 50 amps Sailing Free Spirit While Nancy is at work, Andy is playing and getting some much needed work completed. Since have installed the final appliances and have since discovered that we are drawing too much power from our current 30 amp service and constantly throwing the brakers. We are increasing to 50 amps now and have to re-do the wiring on the boat to allow for the higher amperage. Plus, we upgrade the galvanic isolator to 60 amps to keep up with the growth of the boat.
