In episode 18 we continue the work on RAN in Las Palmas. We construct a new anchor roller for our new 25 kg anchor and build a new box for the plotter and the instruments. We celebrate the summer solstice (Fiesta de San Juan) together with thousands of Gran Canarians on the beach and watch the amazing fireworks. After almost four weeks of work we finally feel ready to leave Las Palmas and we sail to the south coast of Gran Canaria. We experience the famous acceleration zones and the wind gusts up to 40 knots on our way to Puerto de Mogán. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us. Publicou o livro “Velho Chico, Uma Viagem Pictórica”, sob patrocínio da CHESF, CODEVASF, ELETROBRÁS e INFRAERO. A exposição também patrocinada pelas estatais, foi apresentada nas cidades ribeirinhas do São Francisco e encerrada em Miami – FL. Esse projeto produziu o disco “Velho Chico, Uma Viagem Musical” do violonista Elson Fernandes, que resgatou sete músicas de domínio público entre cantigas de remeiros e outras do folclore são franciscano, gravando também canções em homenagem ao Velho Chico de autores consagrados, com a participação da cantora e compositora Consuelo de Paula. Em 2013, o livro foi reeditado sob o título VELHO CHICO ILUSTRADO. De todos os temas que o pintor se dedicou, o Chico foi o mais profícuo, e é ainda inspiração permanente, tendo o artista produzido, até hoje, pelo menos 150 pinturas. Otoniel também produziu o vídeo Velho Ilustrado, mostra um pouco de suas andanças pelo rio.

Dann kleine Antillen und noch einmal die Guyanas und Suriname mit der Nereid’s Rally. 2017: ABC-Inseln (nur BC), Mexiko und Belize. In Mexiko haben wir eine dreiwöchige Rundreise im Landesinneren unternommen. Im Anschluss kamen Providencia und Kolumbien Festland (ebenfalls mit einer dreiwöchigen Rundreise) und die San Blas Inseln in Panama. 2018: Wir wurden im Januar in Panama vom Blitz getroffen. Die Reparatur dauerte drei Monate. Nach der Passage durch den Panama Kanal haben wir den Rest des Jahres in Ecuador verbracht und fünf Wochen das Landesinnere erkundet. 2019: Osterinsel, Gambier, Tuamotu und Gesellschaftsinseln. 2020: Die Corona-Krise hat uns in Gambier (Franz. Polynesien) erwischt. Wir werden sehen, wohin der Wind uns treibt und wie weit wir kommen.

In this video, there is a short update on the progress of my osmosis treatment. I get started on removing the old bronze thru hulls. Last but not least I put up a makeshift boom tent. This video didn't turn out the way I had planned. I had to scrap a lot of the footage due to wind noise even though I have a good quality "dead cat" (windsock) on my Røde VideoMic Go. There were very high gusts of wind today! Fear not I've already remedied the situation.
