We cross a shallow channel, and tie up to rocks at Syvota. We relax by day, and once it cools off a little we visit town by night. It has a relaxed, holiday vibe to the town and a beautiful outlook for sunset. We leaving our anchor gets caught on another boats chain; we manage to release it then set sail for Corfu island. We spend one day far South, the following at Notos and Kez has her last swim in the Mediterranean. We head for Corfu itself next and anchor just below the Old Town. We wander the streets, take in the atmosphere and get lost amongst the stall and streets. We farewell Nanny who heads home to Australia, while we catch up with our friends from Montenegro before we set sail for Albania in the next episode. Want early access to our videos? This is the ULTIMATE day boat/fishing machine for the boater who's very clear on his or her mission. If you have had the bigger boats with multiple cabins but now your lifestyle leans more towards days aboard the boat instead of nights. Or if you just want a platform that's super flexible on the number of guests you can accommodate the the sea state you can still go out in while keeping your guests dry and protected then the Grady White Freedom 415 is that boat. While underway she absolutely behaves like a big yacht when crossing swells and parting waves. But from an operational perspective she's still a vessel that a solo operator could manage no worries. This I believe is the secret of these new Dual Console designs. You could be doing a Friday night Corporate Cruise with your work buddies, with your wife and kids having a picnic on Saturday and heading offshore at 5am on Sunday with 6 of your fishing buddies to catch Marlin. In each of these scenarios this Grady will keep everyone dry, comfortable and safe while also enjoying the ride in a wide variety of sea states that this hull will clearly eat up and leave in her wake. Join me aboard Mirage for a beautiful solo sailing passage from Eleuthera to Lynyard Cay in the Abacos, Bahamas. With the Code 0 flying all the way and Mirage mostly on a close reach, this turned into a fast and exciting adventure across the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas. Even after more than six months in the water, with the hull carrying a thick layer of marine growth, Mirage still sailed strong and fast. The weather was sunny, the sea was gorgeous, and the passage reminded me why solo sailing can be so rewarding. In this video, I also share my sailing experience around Eleuthera - the anchorages, the conditions, and what it felt like exploring one of the most beautiful islands in the Bahamas. Solo sailing at its best. Welcome aboard Mirage.

In this episode of the Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States podcast, hosts Bela Musits and Mike Wasserman welcome accomplished sailor and author Mark Gabrielson. Mark is known for participating in "Corinthian" sailboat races—meaning strictly amateur events with no paid crew or captain—and for his two highly regarded maritime history books. The conversation dives into Mark's literary works, Deer Isle's Undefeated America's Cup Crews: Humble Heroes from a Downeast Island and Corinthian Resolve: The Story of the Marion-Bermuda Race. As a natural storyteller, Mark shares fascinating insights into the history of sailing, the nuances of racing, and the unique beauty of the Maine coast. From his first memories of sailing as a five-year-old in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, where running aground was a fun way to learn, to discussing the future of the sport, Mark covers a broad spectrum of the sailing experience. He emphasizes the importance of early positive social experiences and accessibility, noting that sailing is unique in its ability to offer both a quick, easy entry and a lifetime of subtle refinement for those who want a deeper challenge. The episode offers a wealth of knowledge for anyone with a passion for maritime history, East Coast cruising, or the enduring appeal of life on the water. Key Takeaways & Highlights The Definition of "Corinthian": Learn the true meaning behind amateur sailing races and why this tradition is so important for the sport's spirit. Maine, the Sailor's Paradise: Mark highlights Merchant Row, near Stonington, Maine (the top lobster port by value in the US), as one of the most beautiful sailing locations he's ever seen, despite the numerous lobster pots. Seamanship & Safety: Get expert tips on handling common challenges like freeing a fouled propeller from a lobster pot line and essential man-overboard safety procedures using a towed dinghy. The Marion Bermuda Race: Mark shares his experiences navigating this 645-mile offshore race using only a sextant and nautical almanac (celestial navigation), and winning his class. The Therapeutic Nature of Sailing: Mark discusses how sailing provided a vital therapeutic escape after the personal impact of 9/11, highlighting the emotional benefits of getting out on the water. Resources Mentioned Deer Isle's Undefeated America's Cup Crews: Humble Heroes from a Downeast Island by Mark Gabrielson Corinthian Resolve: The Story of the Marion-Bermuda Race by Mark Gabrielson The Marion Bermuda Race: A highly regarded amateur offshore race. In this video I introduce the idea of Longitudinal AI Systems — continuity-rich AI interactions that evolve over long periods of time under real-world operational conditions. The central idea is simple: Projects rarely fail because of lack of intelligence or focus. They fail because of lack of continuity. Effort and focus are additive. Continuity is the multiplier. Over the last year I’ve been developing what I call the L-Matrix aboard my racing yacht Osprey while preparing for a solo, Eastabout circumnavigation beginning in December 2027, as part of the Global Solo Challenge. This video is a field report from inside that ongoing experiment. This video explores how continuity, retrieval structures, navigable compression, and long-duration interaction may create genuinely useful AI systems without collapsing into hype, mythology, or anthropomorphism. This is not a typical Leopard 45 — it’s a thoughtfully engineered, self-sufficient cruising platform built for serious liveaboard comfort and extended off-grid autonomy. Over the past two years the vessel has undergone an extensive modernization focused on reliability, efficiency, and eliminating dependence on shore power, propane, and marinas. The result is a quiet, solar-powered cruising catamaran capable of anchoring for weeks at a time with residential-level convenience. At the heart of the system is a massive 2,160Ah lithium battery bank paired with 4,300 watts of solar mounted on a custom stainless arch with extendable panels, dual Victron Quattro inverter/chargers, and a complete Victron monitoring and distribution network. Every major onboard system — air conditioning, refrigeration, watermaker, cooking, and electronics — is designed to operate cleanly and efficiently from battery and solar. Soft-start technology across the boat keeps loads smooth and silent, while Starlink provides reliable connectivity from remote anchorages. The galley has been converted to modern electric living with upgraded Isotherm refrigeration, filtered water, and an electric cooking solution. Comfort upgrades include new air-conditioning units, filtered showers, upgraded lighting, and improved tank monitoring. Navigation and safety systems feature new radar, AIS, and updated charting. Recent mechanical servicing, fresh bottom paint, serviced saildrives, new props, and upcoming engine service mean the next owner steps aboard a vessel that is both turnkey and mechanically current. For adventure, the boat comes equipped with a nearly new Highfield tender and Honda outboard, full dive setup, snorkeling gear, fishing equipment, security system, and extensive spares inventory — making her ready for immediate cruising without additional outfitting. This Leopard 45 is ideal for buyers seeking a modern electric-leaning cruising lifestyle: quiet anchorages, minimal generator use, and true independence without sacrificing comfort. Simply provision, cast off, and go. Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/bAFqKMNcZLY This week's episode is a satisfying one! Lately a lot of the projects we've been focusing on have spanned the course of months (even years for some). Those are super rewarding to chip away at and see something big and beautiful slowly form...but sometimes it's fun to watch something come from an idea to a tangible, masterfully crafted, functioning part of our future home in just days. These are like little dopamine hits for our boat building brains, and they are such a great morale boost when it feels like the work is never ending. So we hope you have the same satisfaction as we did after this one! Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/bAFqKMNcZLY

Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 341 After nearly a month exploring the Yasawa Islands in Fiji, it's time to move on. We're running low on provisions, we've explored the majority of the island group here, and it's time to sail back to Viti Levu—Fiji's main island—to resupply and prepare for what's next. But before we leave, we're taking one last dinghy ride to a secluded beach we spotted from the boat. No one around, completely untouched—just us, a hammock, a book, and a few hours of peace before we transition back to civilization. This episode is different. No big adventure, no drama—just a quiet day wrapping up our time in the Yasawas, preparing the boat for sail, and heading back across the water. A transition episode, if you will. But sometimes these are the moments that matter most. About the Yasawa Islands: The Yasawa Islands are a volcanic archipelago in Fiji, stretching about 80 kilometers northwest of Viti Levu. Known for dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear water, remote villages, and some of Fiji's best snorkeling and diving. Most cruisers visit for 1-2 weeks; we spent nearly a month exploring the chain from south to north. Why We're Leaving: Low on fresh provisions (food, water topped off but need variety) Completed our tour of the northern Yasawas Ready for new cruising grounds Cyclone season still active—staying flexible and mobile What's Next: We're heading to new island groups in Fiji (teased at the end of this episode). More exploration, new anchorages, and continuing our journey through the South Pacific. The YOT 36 is a power catamaran built by Catana Group at their Portugal production facility, with naval architecture by J&J Design. It launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2023 as Catana Group's first outboard-powered catamaran. Nick Shields walks the full boat at the Catamaran Guru demo dock in Hollywood Loggerhead Marina, South Florida. 0:00 - YOT 36 Retractable Awning and Seating 0:50 - Floating Terraces: 13 to 17 Feet of Beam 1:35 - Cockpit Galley, Grill, and Outdoor Entertaining 1:45 - Twin Mercury Verados, Joystick, and Skyhook Helm 2:30 - The Two-Cabin Layout: Queen and Single 2:54 - Walking the Bow Sun Pad and Windlass 3:40 - Inside the Main Cabin and Head 4:14 - See the YOT 36 at Loggerhead Marina Check it out now: https://catamaranguru.com/yacht-sales/new-yachts/yot-36-power-catamaran/ What is the YOT 36 power catamaran? The YOT 36 is a twin-outboard power catamaran designed for day boating, weekend cruising, and overnight stays. It measures 35 feet 10 inches in length overall (10.92 m), with a beam of 13 feet 1 inch (3.99 m) at the slip that expands to 17 feet 9 inches (5.4 m) when the floating terraces are deployed. The boat is CE certified in Category B (Offshore) for up to 10 persons. Why does the YOT 36's 13-foot beam matter? Standard marina slips in South Florida and most US coastal markets accommodate boats up to roughly 14 feet of beam. Many power catamarans in the 36-foot length class exceed this at the slip, which limits docking options and increases marina costs. The YOT 36's 13 foot 1 inch at-rest beam allows it to fit standard slips throughout South Florida, the Bahamas, and most US coastal cruising grounds. When the floating terraces deploy, the boat becomes a 17 foot 9 inch wide entertaining platform for sandbar days, swim sessions, and anchor-outs. How do the floating terraces work? The YOT 36 features port and starboard floating terraces (fold-out side platforms) mounted on the cockpit. Lowered, the terraces add nearly four feet of usable deck width and create direct water access from both sides of the boat. Folded up, they return to slip-compliant beam width. Deployment is electric and takes seconds. What engines does the YOT 36 use? The optional upgrade are twin Mercury Verado V10 400 horsepower outboards. The boat cruises at approximately 25 knots and reaches a top speed of approximately 40 knots. Mercury joystick docking control, Skyhook dynamic positioning, Zipwake automatic trim tabs, and a Simrad chart plotter with integrated engine data complete the helm package. A 6.5 kW diesel generator with a dedicated diesel tank powers air conditioning for the cabins and the isinglass-enclosed helm. What is the YOT 36's cabin layout? The YOT 36 in this configuration has two cabins, both with private heads and showers. The port side has a queen-size berth, the starboard side has a single berth in a narrower configuration. The main cabin is accessed by three short steps from the cockpit and includes storage cabinetry and a head with shower basin. The layout supports weekend stays and short cruises for couples or small families. What's in the cockpit and on deck? The cockpit includes forward or aft-facing convertible bench seating, a cocktail and dining table that drops to a sun pad, a retractable awning, a sink with workspace counter, an outdoor grill, twin refrigerators, and storage under every seat. A hardtop covers the helm and cockpit. The bow has its own sun pad, bench seat, retractable awning, and an electric windlass under a hatch that also opens into the main cabin for light and ventilation. Wide side decks allow safe forward movement. Where can I see the YOT 36 in person? Catamaran Guru typically keeps both the YOT 36 and the YOT 41 at the demo dock at Hollywood Loggerhead Marina in South Florida. Independent private showings and demonstration rides are available by appointment. With the help of our friends Paul and Einion, we started removing rotten wood, clearing dangerous debris, and saving as many original slates and tiles as possible before the roof brings down more of the structure. Welcome back to the 75 Hard journey — Days 37 & 38 combined! Apologies for missing yesterday’s upload, things got hectic with a project I’m currently working on, but even though the video didn’t happen… the challenge still did. Today officially marks us passing the HALF WAY point of 75 Hard and honestly, the mindset changes are becoming just as noticeable as the physical ones. This morning was another solid HIIT workout, Jen smashed another running session (now officially nicknamed “Forest” 😂), and we’re both still going strong. One thing I’ve really noticed now is how natural the habits have become — especially the water intake. At the beginning you’re counting litres constantly… now the body just expects it. In this video we talk about: ✅ Passing the halfway mark ✅ Building discipline through consistency ✅ HIIT training progress ✅ Habit changes during 75 Hard ✅ Motivation when time is tight ✅ Why it’s NEVER too late to start We also head up to the local farmers market here on the island for fresh vegetables and healthy food supplies as the challenge continues. If you’re thinking about starting your own transformation journey, remember… you do NOT need perfect conditions to begin. You just need to start. 🔥 Want support with your own fitness and mindset transformation?
