Well, it’s been three weeks and and the boatyard is still working to replace Varuna’s bowsprit. We decide it’s time for Ty to be done with work, so we can be there to make sure the work is progressing so that we can get out of there! While we wait, we get up to some projects ourselves… deep in the cockpit and anchor lockers. Our anchor locker has proved to be problematic, with chain piling below the hawse pipe, getting wedged in tight spaces, and wrapping around the inner forestay. We come up with a floor to put in the locker to protect some of the equipment below, and try to make an easier path for the chain to slide down. Next, on to the cockpit lockers! Those big, caverness lockers are great for storing stuff, but hard to keep organized. We decide to add some shelves inside to help separate the space and give us bit more organization. Through both of these projects, we have lots of fun learning how epoxy and fiberglassing works, it’s not perfect, but we’re learning! Using the FZ1000 since two years now, I recommend this bridge camera as a really good and solid working unit. You don´t need any extra stuff except an external mic. Super camera for video with 4K and build-in 5 axis imagestabilisation. Here are some shots made during a festival in Kerpen / Germany. The new FZ2000 will come out to the market in autumn 2016. Sailing offshore from Cocos Keeling to Chagos in the middle of the Indian Ocean! We leave our beloved Cocos Keeling and set sail on a 1,500 mile two week voyage to Chagos. The crew is feeling a little rough at first because the seas and winds are large and confused. After a few days everyone is back to normal and Brady's hand is healing just fine from the Barracuda attack. About a week into the trip it's time to remove Brady's stiches which was a crazy experience since the waves were moving Delos around so much. It's also the furthest from land Karin has ever been! This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Sailing is often about changing plans and take the day as it comes. So our plans on sailing to Cape Verde had to wait a couple of days and instead we sailed to a new island! El Hierro is the smallest of all the main islands in the Canaries. We made a stop on the south coast in La Restinga and got amazed by the lava, and to hear about the eruption in the ocean outside the village. La Restinga was the perfect place to rest and recharge before the 750 nm sail to Cape Verde. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us.
