My second episode of my Adventure to learn to ride a foil board! Trust me, it isn't easy! The second episode shows that perseverance is key. I started off this day with a good breeze. I bodydragged all the way out to the deep water and managed some attempts at water starting. Then to find out the wind dropped again! And inflatable kites don't fly so well without wind. Even foil kites would struggle, but they will last longer up there! Unfortunately my foil kite for this session was still needing repair... The spot is Al Wakra Family Beach, Qatar. Right in the Middle East where I've lived for some time now. Amazing conditions for a big part of the year, let's say October until June! The equipment used in this video is: - Zeeko Aluminium Foil - Shinnster board - North Rebel 12m kite Watch episode 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VlYkp3dtXY&t=3s Watch episode 3 here: https://youtu.be/SY1KrZ6vZtM The soundtrack in this video is: Digital Lemonade Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ #hydrofoil #kitefoil #kiteboarding #ultimatefreggle

We've set sail, leaving Slovenia for Croatia. First stop is the northern coast of Croatia, Istria. Istria has a long history. It was the second-most important region of the Roman Empire after Rome, producing wines and olive oil, and the Roman heritage is very apparent in this area. We sail to Umag and then to Pula, which has the most preserved Roman colosseum ampitheter in the world, and then head out to the secluded and idyllic islands to the south of Istria, Unije, Ist and Molat. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to our YouTube channel if you would like to follow our adventures sailing around the world. Exploring the hidden cave in the Ang Thong National Park ( http://www.island-cruises.org/angthong-national-marine-park/ )on our sailing cruises is only possible during the summer month and we are looking forward to higher water levels in the cave due to the strong rain fall this winter.
We tried sailing from the Exumas to Eleuthera today, but FAILED. There are so many variables with sailing. So many things than can change for the better - or for the worst. Depending on the size of your boat and your experience level, the extent that these variables affect you can vary tremendously. Take our crossing from Highborne, Exumas to Rock Sound, Eleuthera for example. We had been very patient indeed to wait for the wind to shift to a direction and strength that were favorable for us to sail to Eleuthera. Unfortunately, patience alone doesn't guarantee you a reliable and comfortable passage. We wanted wind from the South and for wave height of no more than 3-4 feet. We watched the weather until it seemed that our day had arrived. What did we get? We got almost 0 wind and waves of 6-8 ft... and that's how it goes. So, when that kind of thing happens, you have 2 choices: 1) Press on. 2) Turn back. We opted for choice #2. All is not lost though. The following day, the conditions changed. Still, there was almost 0 wind, but at least the wave height had lowered tremendously to only 2-3 feet. Fine, we'll take it! A motorboat ride it is. So this video is a story of turning back, waiting, and ultimately making it to your destination even though the conditions we were waiting for never did actually materialize... and that, in large part, is cruising. I make travel vlogs about my Vanlife, sharing vanlife ideas, vanlife tips, and travel diaries. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

"In this episode, we went from Queenstown to Picton in New Zealand, and along the way spent a time in Wanaka and stayed 3 days in Nelson. Duca went kitesurfing, we made barbecue in Rabbit Island, went to a spa and slept in the car in the middle of the city center... After that, it was time to drive to the port of Picton to get the ferry to the North Island." Roberta “After I finished my Civil Engineering degree in Brazil in the end of 2015 I decided that I wanted to take an extra step. So with the full support of my long time adventure partner I started a Master Degree at Sydney University and that’s how we sold most of our belongings and moved from Brazil to Australia. But 6 months later we realized that actually that was not what we were looking for. So instead of flying back straight to our country, we decided to take a few sabbatical months and travel until the end of 2016. The plan was simple, we wanted to travel to places where it is cheap and/or comfortable, and take the time to think about our own lives so we could decide what we wanted to do from 2017 and on. That’s the story we tell in this first season of Odd Life Crafting.” Duca WEEKLY EPISODES EVERY FRIDAY!! We hope to inspire other people to go out and live their dreams. Even though we don't have U.S Visas we would still be able to sail to the Spanish Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, which both are U.S territories, if we followed a special procedure. This is how we did it! When we were done we set sail towards Culebra, Spanish Virgin Islands, but made a night stop in St. Thomas. After our arrival to Culebra we met up with some fellow YouTubers for sundowners :) We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? We visit Pig Beach, check out the underwater mermaid sculpture, drink cocktails in Staniel Cay Yacht Club, check out Thunderball Grotto and do some dinghy exploration down a remote and beautiful creek in Shroud Cay. The day has finally arrived. After taking a junk boat sitting in the graveyard to do a complete overhaul on it, we're now ready to move it to the water! With rain like we've never seen before in south Florida, our launch was pushed back an extra few days as we scrambled to finish last minute projects in the work yard. With the exception of a little paint peeling off the bottom as it stuck to the jackstands, our launching went as smoothly as we could hope for and we are now peacefully floating in the water after gazing at it for two years. A few more weeks of projects at the docks and we can finally get ourselves on the move! Cheers from the WATER!! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. These charitable souls help keep us in the work yard, our camera equipment up to date, and the videos coming.
