Carpe Diem was purchased by her current owner in 2002 and since then has had many upgrades and improvements carried out including a substantial interior refit in 2011, new diesel engine in 2010, full hull re-spray and new standing rigging in 2012 and a second water tank was also added in 2012 plus all new seacocks installed in 2015. The boat was also professionally rewired in 2011 with full wiring diagrams available. The drop-down dinette allows for a number of accommodation options in the saloon meaning you can choose between sleeping in line or athwartships in a large double. In the forepeak is a double V-berth and then back in the stern we find a single pipe birth to starboard. It’s obvious this is no ordinary Bounty 35. We’d completed our first sail in La Vagabonde, about 230nm from La Grande Motte to the Balearic Islands - Spain! The last time we were in Mallorca was in 2014, when we arrived with a broken rudder. We spent weeks working with Gregor (do you guys remember this legend from early on in the videos?) and his mate who was a welder, but also had claustrophobia so he couldn’t actually come down below to do all the measurements himself… so instead he stood outside while Riley climbed into the dark hole, about the size of a mouses house and yelled out the measurements to him. We didn’t have time or energy to explore the island, so it’s good to be back again with a whole different set of circumstances. It’s Rileys birthday!!! The CF Racing Tough 100 Extreme enduro took place last Saturday and Sunday and wow! Did it live up to its name, this was the 2nd edition of the event from Steve Ireland and his band of superb lieutenants at WOR Events, the organisers had said in some pre-race event info that they had upped the ante for this year’s race, they were not wrong as they provided a fantastic 10 mile lap of mixed mountainous terrain that was littered with challenge after challenge along the way. The biggest challenge however was the rain that descended on the already impressively tough track right from the drop of the start flag to the finish of the race 5 hrs late.
