E31 Summer Daze Vlog of Life in a Nutshell narrowboat travels. After a lovely weekend in London, we left the Welton Hythe Marina and turned left on to the Leicester Arm towards Crick. We bumped into a mystery boat tuber at the base of the Watford Staircase Locks. A lovely catchup and a few cups of tea later and we finally ended up at the top of the flight. After a leisurely jaunt through the Crick Tunnel, we passed the Crick Marina and ended on a quiet rural mooring shared by the sheep and cows. Another wonderful social day on the English waterways. I wonder who we will bump into tomorrow? See you tomorrow for more Summer Daze. In this video we cross the Gulf Stream after a night of impressive thunderstorms, and then we are in green water as we approach the mouth of the Chesapeake. We arrive in Hampton, Virginia, just before midnight on June 17, having done the 1,300 mile passage in a little under two weeks.
We finally finish up the new rigging and get out of Airlie Beach! Its a lovely place but it was a good feeling to pull up the anchor and sail away for the last time. With the new rigging and sail I wanted to give it all a shake down so we sailed up and down the bay a few times before anchoring at South Molle Island. There used to be resort in this beautiful bay, that was before Cyclone Debbie laid waste to it. The place is absolutely trashed and its very sad to walk around there and imagine all the fun times people had there. Maurus from IndianaSUP in Zurich had very kindly offered us an inflatable paddle board so we finally got to pump it up and give it a test. Ylva loves it and I'll be getting into it as well. Next day we sailed over to Hook Island and climbed up a bunch of huge boulders to get to an amazing waterfall. During the afternoon we set off north, direction Cairns, but thats all in the next video. Thanks for watching. A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. I'd love you to Subscribe, Cheers. This week a big announcement, Im Sailing singlehanded from the Canaries to the cape Verde islands, Stripping off and swimming 175 off shore from the African coast, rough seas, running out of fresh food, Sahara dust, Thank you for watching this episode of Adventures of an old Seadog, I hope you enjoyed it. A great deal of work and love goes into every video in the series. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. All of the ‘Seadog’ videos are available to watch on the ‘Barry Perrins’ channel on Youtube. For notifications on new releases please subscribe. Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Our sailing adventure now takes us on from the lovely island of Kythnos to the hustle and bustle of Hydra. Forever beating a course against the elements, it’s a welcome rest on an island that boasts no motor vehicles! Donkeys and Mules carry everything from passengers to luggage, whilst sea taxis offer a similar service, as well as trips to remote beaches (including nudist) and other hard to access places. We are lucky to be here for the Easter celebrations, and enjoy the vibrant friendly atmosphere surrounding this holiday. Anchored in the small bay of Mandraki (no room in the harbour) it’s only a short walk into the town, and a lot quieter, but still with a great atmosphere of its own. Sailing on to Epidavros, we hit our first serious squall, crashing into 4 metre waves and being battered with 46 knot winds and lashing rain. I try out single handed sailing for the first time (only briefly though) and we prepare ourselves for our first ever transit through the Corinth Canal. #sailing #SailingKejstralAdventures #videoclip Like, share and comment if you enjoyed this video Watch related video's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuY8fYZE18U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPETMB0R3c4&t=25s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bHjOuEYKmU&t=189s Feel free to share this video Checkout our channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu_TXBvLqimTelcfKu2Dkfg Stay up to date by going to our website at http://sailingkejstraladventures.weebly.com/ Follow the Blog http://sailingkejstraladventures.weebly.com/blog Keep up to date on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Kejstral/ AUDIO ------------ Under the Creative Commons Licence Heartland - Silent Partner Secret Conversations - 126ers Colours - Tobu We are One - Vexento Acoustic Guitar - Audionautics The Low Seas - 126ers A huge thank you to all our subscribers and followers. Sorry there appears to be a problem with the upload at the beginning of the video. Neil and Jeanette are sailing their Beneteau 473 called Echo Echo across the Pacific. They started from the east coast of the US and are making their way to New Zealand. This video highlights days 18-25 on the long passage from Panama to the Marquesas in French Polynesia.
Hey guys! Shane didn't do any SUP guiding on Sunday so we took the day to paddle the Snoqualmie River as a family. Most of the day was spent on the beach, relaxing and playing. We ate a late lunch there and lots of snacks. Unfortunately, I messed up with planning a zero waste meal. We stopped at the grocery store on the way out. I had brought our reusable plates, cutlery and water bottles. However, I gave in with a couple requests from the family, and bought pre-washed packaged romaine leaves for our salad. We of course packed everything out in our dry bags. What are your favorite "fast food" meals when you're out and about that are zero waste? Follow me for more zero waste, PNW, getting healthy adventures on IG http://instagram.com/jenniferdonogh + be sure to say hi!

Undoubtedly the hardest enduro stage I've ever raced. No warm-up, arm pump to the max, lungs ready to pop out out of my throat. The trails are super rad though! (Pardon the borderline-NSFW mouth breathing...)

E29 Summer Daze Vlog of Life in a Nutshell narrowboat travels. After 17 locks up the Northampton Arm we headed off from Gayton Junction, a quick right turn onto the Grand Union Proper heading north and we were on new territory. A lovely gentle cruise meandering along the contour canal followed by 7 delightful locks up the Buckby Flight and another right turn in to the Leicester Arm for our final destination at a delightful marina. A few ales at the The New Inn pub at the top of the flight. Another wonderful day on the English waterways. See you tomorrow for more Summer Daze. In Part Four I talk about: the Gulf Stream, crossing it and the potential hazards it poses to small craft; how I manage my sleep as a solo-sailor; getting into some some squally weather.
