In this episode we take you for an aerial tour around one of the biggest marine ports in the Caribbean, Le Marin in the South coast of Martinique. It is a vast area, and a bustling little metropolis on a small Caribbean Island... but one you can find anything you need, from the finest wines and cheeses, to the most difficult to find boat parts! After that we pull anchor and hoist the sails, and set course for the North end of the island to a town called St Pierre, which happens to be home of one of the most famous volcanoes in the Caribbean.. Mt Pelee which is the volcano that killed over 30,000 instantly in one blast in the early 1900s.. and even though the volcano is still technically active, they rebuilt the entire town in its exact position as before! St Pierre, a small picturesque town in the Northwest corner of Martinique in the Caribbean... built at the foot of an active volcano with a 5000-year history of eruptions, the town was finally claimed in an instant on May 8th in 1902 when the side of the volcano burst under pressure resulting in the worst volcanic eruption of our time that literally incinerated the entire population of over 30,000 people in less than a minute. This is the first of several episodes featuring the stories of St Pierre, so be sure and SUBSCRIBE if you haven't already, so you'll be tuned in for the next episodes! We sail 130nm from Tanna island to Efate island with no engine and have some exciting Marlin fishing on the way. Arriving safely, we set off island style on a drive around the island... https://www.sailingnandji.com CLICK THE BELL to know when NEW Nandji videos are up! In this episode of Sailing Nandji, We leave Tanna island around lunch time and sail 130 nautical miles to Port Villa, Efate island, Vanuatu. We leave in a good breeze at our backs and have some exciting fishing on the way. Three Marlin take the bait and give Yosh some challenging and emotional fishing. We head into the night with a 25 knots on our backs, then two hours later have none. The wind disappeared for hours and we lay ahull bobbing around aimlessly in the middle of the ocean. We have engine issues and do not want to use the engine to make problems worse. Finally we arrive to Port Villa and inspect the engine with some help from another yachtie. Breaking more things, we set off around Port Villa in search of boat parts. We meet a local guy who was very helpful so we take him along for a ride around the island in a little mini moke car. We meet some other Australians on the way and two turns to three turns to five and its party time! Lets make NANDJI better! Nandji has a new windvane ordered! YEW! It is because of all you great people, we have raised enough funds to get a self steering aid on the back of Nandji. We are currently waiting for it to arrive so we can install it! Nandji is an older boat and we have plenty of items that we are trying to afford. A new windlass, an autopilot, a downwind sail. Just to name a few. Sunseeker Yacht's Secret to Success In the UK the word "Sunseeker" has become synonymous with the word "Yacht"... They have continued to thrive and produce some of the most exciting looking production yachts on the market. This video looks at the reasons I believe they are so successful. Next week's video will take a look at the preparation I put into a yacht presentation video, as I take a trip to the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard in Ancona. For those that have been following our channel for a while, you know how much work we have been doing on DreamChaser. This week we did some mechanical touch-ups and sailed her. It was great to test out systems, electronics, mechanics and some other things. We still have a lot more to do, but it was a good start. Watch this weeks video which is exciting for the sailing trip but also the destination and the next steps for S/V DreamChaser. She is headed to Mayer Yacht Service in New Orleans. Michael has been great to work with. He was the broker that had dreamChaser listed years ago. We had him do some work in the past, pulling the boat for the survey and replacing some thru-hulls as well as some minor repairs on the rudder as well as fiberglass work on the Bow Thruster tube. http://www.mayeryacht.com/services-survey.php Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. HOORAY! THE TURTLE ROAD TRIP IS OVER! Once we got to our friend's house in South Carolina the truck broke down....again.... It took a few days at a local mechanic shop to get the fuel pump replaced, and it ended up costing us $900 dollars! We couldn't believe how expensive it was here on the East Coast to get fixed! Randall would have done the project himself, for about $145, but he didn't have a good place to work and he didn't want to get his friends driveway dirty with truck grease. Oh well that is life, we move on and we choose to be happy! This was our first time in South Carolina and we loved seeing all the sights! We were able to visit friends that we haven't seen in years and spend some time at the beach! We got very anxious to get our boat to Florida so we could set sail on our trip to the Bahamas! Once we left South Carolina, it took about a day and a half of driving before we got to Fort Pierce, Florida. Along the way we had to get our 3 day old rim replaced at a Discount Tire, but the closet facility was 6 hours south, back in Florida. We crossed our fingers and hoped that we would make it there without blowing any more tires! That night we slept at a REALLY FANCY rest area in Florida! We say fancy, because compared to every other rest stop we stayed at across the country this one was by far the cleanest, biggest, and well secured. We were blown away by how much pride the state of Florida has in it's roads and public facilities. The next day we arrived at the marina! As we drove into the boat yard, it was AMAZING to see all the masts of the other sailboats! We couldn't believe that we are actually here! We have worked so hard to get here and have had nothing but bad luck the whole way! Tomorrow we are planning on launching Turtle and getting ready to leave for the Bahamas! We are really hoping this is the end of our bad luck and the beginning of our EPIC SAILING ADVENTURE !!! ********************************************************************** THANK YOU for watching our videos and for SUBSCRIBING to our YouTube channel! A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

***la_lyz_ensuiza www.grimselwelt.ch

LAST PART OF VIDEO NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS Sailing around the world and having been at sea for 6 years now, I would say the island 'Ile Des Pins' is a jewel in the crown of the best islands to be found anywhere in the world. Sadly - this is not paradise for the dogs on the island - the local folks do not have the means to control their numbers through medical resolve, so puppies are drowned, dogs driven over and annual shooting events are techniques employed. Those who follow us will know of our involvement with animal welfare and care solutions in New Caledonia, the project having started out by followers on You Tube funding the medical help to 'Moose', the abandoned island dog. Well, in this video, we join our favourite flying and sailing vet, GUY KANE, for the first ever operation to sterilise dogs taking place on Ile Des Pins. This project is an attempt to prevent the suffering of animals, reduce the stress of inhabitants around their animals - a program to control the dog population on the island. Sadly, and in order for the program to have a future and success rate, many little pups had to be 'put down', at least humanely for otherwise their last day would have been by drowning, being driven over or by shooting. These methods have been the means locals have used to control their dog population, and whilst initially one want to judge them for it, it becomes obvious fairly soon that due to a lack of finances the people have little to no means of medical assistance and care for changing this. Well - all that stops hopefully with a proper sterilisation program having been put in place !!! In this video, we share a little about Ile Des Pins beauty, we share the historical aspect of the island by visiting its prison cells which mostly now lie in ruin and we tell a story or two around this. How can it be that such a gem of an island could have seen such hostile acts throughout the ages! We send up the drone for a spin through the skies - it soothes the soul and reminds us of how majestic this island really is. The really good news to us, is that this island is healing - the prison in ruins, the natural beauty protected and now with a new care for animals on the islands, we hope this will be paradise for all - humans, nature and animals combined. So folks - we ask for some generosity here not one cent for our own pockets but a few dollars (even $2 or $5 would be hugely appreciated) to help the local folks on these islands to be better able to turn the plight of its animals around ... please support the program by donating at our 'Go Fund Me Account' - right here in the link below: https://www.gofundme.com/help-us-to-help-animals For sailors sailing from Australia to New Caledonia - Did you know that if you join the 'Go East Rally' (Part of The Down Under Rally Group), that for every boat sailing in the fleet, a donation is made toward our animal welfare initiative in New Caledonia. Thank you everyone - we do not have a Patreon Account - we safer our videos from a space of love and for free and we create a space for you to help us help others when there is a need. When I was diagnosed with FSHD (a type of Muscular Dystrophy) the doctors warned that intense physical activity could cause my muscles to rapidly whither away. I respect their intentions but if I'm going to loose the muscle anyway it will be on my terms, doing what I love to do, continuing to live an active life as long as I am able. I feel this is the best episode yet! So we snapped our steering while coming into Portimao from Alvor in Portugal, we were pretty lucky that we found a local fishing engineer who was able to save the day. Our new crew arrived Sam and Jacob from New Zealand to join us on the trip across the Atlantic. Enjoy Ep 12. Lagun adjustable sailboat cabin table installed on Pearson Triton Atom in 2017. The table can be ordered from https://www.lagunusa.com/. The table top size of this model is 480mm x 770mm (19" x 30") by about 5/8" thick but is no longer available in 2021. You can still order the swiveling mounting brackets and fit them to your own table top. You may find a suitable teak veneer or formica over plywood table top sold online somewhere or make your own or give the dimensions to a local cabinet shop to make. Make a cardboard mockup of the table so you can see where it will best fit with clearance to swivel. To ensure the table top has enough thickness for the screws to hold it, you should glue a 1/2" thick wood spacer to the bottom of the table where it meets the aluminum base plate. An extra base mounting plate is available to move it to the cockpit. I have no financial interest in this. I just like the product. You can get the swivel mount from them but they no longer sell the table top.
