Moose, or Mouss (in French) is a well known island dog who was abandoned on an island after a hotel closed down. Moose was the only puppet of the litter who refused to leave his island even after many attempts were made to have him removed. Moose became a legend amongst sailors sailing the waters of New Caledonia - he loved his island called Casy Island where he eagerly greeted sailors with a bark and number of twirls on the beach before taking them on a grand tour. When we sailed into New Caledonia, we enjoyed our first encounter with Moose and felt heart broken to leave him behind when we left the territory for cyclone season sailing down to New Zealand. Instead of sailing for Australia as part of our around the world tour, we decided to sail back to New Caledonia and provide the You Tube Community with an update. Moose was not well and so began our journey into what would become for us, many visits to New Caledonia, involvement in Animal Welfare in the territory and also a friendship with many people all to do with a link to Moose. We managed to raise funds through our channel to fly in a vet called Guy Kane who treated Moose and it was through these efforts that we became involved more and more. Ty gets to work on some gelcoat repairs for Varuna and builds a box on deck for our compressor. The wind changes from a SW to a NW and we head off from the Balaerics towards mainland Spain. Because of this we have horrible cross waves that make it an extremely uncomfortable trip and Sarah struggles to manage the seasickness. Adam has to take over the cooking and sailing and for that we say muchos gracias!! It's been quite a while since we talked to anyone else other than ourselves as the Formentera islands are very quiet at this time of year. So excuse the craziness Sarah brings to the table.... Over the summer there has been a small leak at the starboard stern fairlead. I first tried to tighten up the screws but it seems like I must do something else to get rid of the leak. My plan is then to drill through the deck and mount some bolts there will hold the fairlead tight to the deck with some butyl sealant in between to make it waterproof.

One of the first sails I had with my kayacat last summer. As you see in the video, at that time I still haven't figured out a good way to steer with the luggage in the back (finaly managed to do it on a later trip). The response to wind is quite quick. Filmed on a Mavic Pro in autofollow mode. (By the way, this trip did cost me the drone. Due to my own stupidity.)

Malta to Tunisia via Lampedusa Island, this was our second passage for 2014 and the first time for us in North Africa. The seas were nice and calm due to the lack of wind but Annie enjoyed this sail. The engine repower fun goes on. Now that Karl is back in the water, it's time to tackle the alignment. First we need to build some extra spacers to raise the engine a bit more before we can move it slightly up and down and left and right to manage to get the transmission flange and shaft coupling aligned with gaps smaller than 4 thousandth of an inch. Cartagena offered a lot of squalls and some chaos with dragging boats in the anchorage. But we also got to enjoy the charming city again and found exotic animals in the park before we checked out of the country and set off to the island group Islas Rosario. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Aston Martin Hits the Water with the AM37! When Aston Martin decided to enter the world of powerboats they did not go at it by half measure. Quintessence Yachts were commissioned to build the boat, using a Mulder designed hull and with Aston Martin design throughout. The quality level of this boat is very impressive indeed, worthy of the Aston Martin badge. I flew to Fort Lauderdale to take a good look at it and report back to you.
