Alle auf einer der ersten Nachkriegsreisen an den Bodensee und Richtung Lichtenstein. Später Winterferien an unbekanntem Ort mit Freunden. Ab der Mitte des Videos diverse Aufnahmen von Segelfreuden an der Havel in Berlin Spandau mit Söhnchen Rainer. Das alles wohl 1951. Pardon für die schreckliche Musik, die wurde beim Überspielen von Normal 8 auf DVD vor Jahren raufgetan... Teilweise gelöscht. Einfach leise stellen.

In this episode we receive a design from Jeff H. to assist us with a temporary support for our baby stay until we can procure a permanent fix. This is in preparation for the next leg of our voyage. Our boat came with a new bosun's chair and a new safety harness which we have never used. Vin was preparing to go up the mast but Amy insisted that ascend instead since she only weighs 120 lbs...and it is the first time Amy has ever climbed the mast on a bosun's chair and safety harness. Vin used the safety harness attached to the foresail halyard and the bosuns chair to the mainsail halyard. The purpose: to rig an extra support for the babystay until a permanent fix can be accomplished. We hope you like it! Constructing a mast and sprit for a Chameleon sailing dinghy seems like a simple affair, but it's actually quite complex. It takes a lot of effort to plane a 12' long 4x4 post into a 12' long 2" diameter mast. The process also creates an extraordinary amount of wood chips as well. Wow, what a mess. I cheated a bit on the sprit by using 1.5" round pine stock. The end product turned out absolutely wonderful. After the parts were built, I applied 5 coats of varnish. Shoot, just this step alone takes the better part of a week - sanding each coat once dry before the next is applied. Still, now that the parts are finished, they are just gorgeous to look at. All in all, I feel like I've done a good job at building these sailing components, and now the little boat is one BIG step closer to becoming a genuine, tiny sailing dinghy. Thanks for watching!! The ZZ 09, ZZ 15, and ZZ 18 styles all step up to the higher modulus Twaron black warp fibers for added performance in these radial laminates while still using the Technora black for the fill. Designed for radial applications the ZZ styles from 06 to 18 all have 750 denier Technora at 12˚ off the warp. For applications where added durability is required, we offer the ZZ 09, ZZ 15 and ZZ 18 styles with a one side taffeta option. For a slight weight increase the taffeta contributes to film and inpact durability. Placing the taffeta on one side of the cloth rather than internally between the films eliminates the problem of water wicking into the laminate. ZZ is available in 60” width [152 cms] for better nesting options and improved cloth utilization.

You might remember Manny from one of the earlier San Blas charter episodes on Sail Joana. After booking a charter on Maria's sailboat Joana in June 2017, he had asked me if he could come and visit me on Karl one day. And here he is! Manny jumped on board in Golfito (Costa Rica) in the Golfo Dulce and since he only had a couple of days of vacation, we decided to make little baby jumps around the Golfo Dulce and explore the area a little bit. It was his first time on a small sailing vessel and he took it all in. It was inspiring to see how much he enjoyed it all and how he dove into the freedom and tranquility of this salty lifestyle. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
