After a disappointing Puerto Sherry regatta last month when they finished seventh overall, their worst regatta result in the history of the world’s leading grand prix monohull circuit, Quantum Racing are on fire in the big winds and waves of the Atlantic off Cascais and lead the third regatta of the season by six points. The 2018 52 SUPER SERIES champions conclusively won the first race today at the Cascais 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week, at one point over 500 metres ahead of second while racing in winds of more than 25kts and surfing to a new speed record for the boat of over 25kts. The second race was much less straightforward with the windward mark set closer to the land. Offshore, to the left of the upwind, the breeze held more solid. But inshore the leaders saw shifts of more than 40 degrees, lulls as light as eight knots and still gusts to more than 20. Cascais 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week Regatta standings after Day 3 1. _____Musik____________________________________________________________________________ Track: Elektronomia - Summersong 2018 [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds. At last! We are finally sailing after spending 8 years restoring this boat, which we purchased after the 2011 Brisbane floods. This video is of our first day of our first season cruising up the Queensland coast. We sail from Mooloolaba and anchor for the night at Double Island Point. Yes, the boat was an absolute mess when we bought it and had to be completely gutted, new deck, new rigging, new electrics, new motor. I'll be uploading a video down the track, which is mostly just photos, with the "before" shots and a some videos later in the restoration project.

We had a great time sailing through the Sandy Straights now we head from Hervey Bay to Bundaberg. Weather not ideal but we made good time motor sailing.

Sailing to Lady Musgrave Island had been on the "bucket list" for quite some time. Weather was still cold and windy though. After an exciting crossing from Bundaberg, we caught a fish on the way over! First catch of the season on our new handline. It was everything I expected and more on and around Lady Musgrave. We finally got some good weather and enjoyed a few days snorkelling, even swam with a turtle! The island itself was great to visit too with an abundance of bird life, coral beaches and dense green trees throughout the island.

After a road trip in Hiva Oa we set sail to the Tuamostus. These atolls are a hot spot for scuba diving. All of the islands of the Tuamotus are coral atolls, essentially high sand bars built upon coral reefs. They are a navigational nightmare but we made it in one piece! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Especially if you are interested in doing something crazy like we are! Maybe we can help answer some questions you have? Thanks and enjoy.

Full test in Multihulls World #167: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/trimaran/dragonfly-32-evolution-all-the-advantages-of-a-multihull-but-just-12-8-beam-in-harbor Teaser test Dragonfly 32 Evolution, a exciting and folding trimaran. With 54 examples built, the first-generation Dragonfly 32 made its mark on the history of the yard. The Evolution replaced the Supreme version in 2019, with 20% larger floats and a more powerful rig. The stretched underwater hulls of the floats, the higher volume and the inverted bows are a real plus with a cross-sea or for sporty sailing. Admittedly, at the same price, the Dragonfly 32 Evo offers a third of the living space of an honest 40-foot catamaran, but what are we looking for when we choose this boat? A multihull that can limit her beam to 3.85 m but above all a sporty craft that conceals a wonderful temperament under the pretty exterior and provides a lot of pleasure when sailing. See the full test in Multihulls World 167. TECNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Quorning Boats Length: 32’2”/32’6” (9.80/9.90 m) Beam: 11’10”/26’3” (3.6/8 m) or 12’7”/27’1” (3.85/8.25 m) Light displacement: 7,500 lbs (3,400 kg) Draft: 22”/6’3” (0.55/1.90 m) Mainsail area: 520 or 625 sq ft (48 or 58 m²) Genoa: 280 or 310 sq ft (26 or 29 m²) Spinnaker: 1,025 sq ft (95 m²) Number of berths: 5/7 Water: 32 US gal (120 l) Diesel: 18.5 US gal (70 l) Engines: 21 HP Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! The Libertist's ambition is to establish a fixed structure in the 23-40’ (7-12 m) category. Bearing the signature of Erik Lerouge, the Polish shipyard Rega Yacht is offering everything of the 853 folding version. A formula that allows them to join a small but active market, mainly occupied by Dragonfly, Corsair, Astus and Tricat. The 853 is elegant, extremely fast and manages to offer an amazing volume in a central hull of only 28’ (8.50 m). ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Rega Yachts Architect: Erik Lerouge Construction: Glass/epoxy foam sandwich (infusion), carbon arms Length: 28’ (8.53 m) Beam: 23’4” (7.10 m) Draft: 18”/6’5” (0.45 m/1.95 m) Unladen weight: 3,085 lbs (1,400 kg) Height and surface area of the rotating mast: 44’8”/43 sq ft (13.60 m/4 m²) Mainsail area: 430 sq ft (40 m²) Self-tacking jib: 205 sq ft (19 m²) Asymmetric spinnaker: 840 sq ft (78 m²) Engine: 6kW ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! POCO MAS is a 74' 1982 Huckins Sport Cruiser. Her AIREX construction makes the hull extremely strong and lightweight, and her performance is quite impressive with a 23 knot cruise and 30 knot max speed. Originally built for John R. Schuehle, who was a car-and-truck dealer and racing magnate from Texas who liked his boats big and fast! Family-owned company that has been building custom Huckins yachts since 1928 with a full service boat yard for refit, repair & restoration on all makes and models of boats.

In this vlog I fly a plane over London and see the Queen of England face to face....what. The Hostel I stayed in is call Rest Up Hostel. I booked it on AirBnb. It's a very big hostel with a cafe, luggage lockers, and more. It's a great way to meet people, but I don't recommend it for groups. The showers are difficult because they're so tiny and as far as hostels go, this one is expensive. There's also a lot of children in huge school groups staying here and that can get loud. I booked my private flight through AirBnb as well, but you can go through the Wingly app to save money. My pilot was Matthew and he flies out of Blackbush Airport and I can't recommend him enough. He went above and beyond! The Kayaking tour was booked on AirBnb as well, but you can go directly through "The Pirate Castle" in Camden. They also offer stand up paddle boards. You get to paddle through London Zoo and see the animals from the canals! London is pretty expensive so I don't recommend traveling alone. Get a few friends and share the cost of accommodation. Once she is sailing, we are planning on taking Arabella all around the world on adventures and in all kinds of conditions. A bluewater sailboat like her needs to be tough and be able to stand up to all kinds of conditions. Atkin designed her with these considerations in mind, but there is one more element to wooden sailboats that we feel is important. This element is something that has been used a lot in the past but was also often omitted, despite evidence of its usefulness in tough conditions. This element is diagonal bronze strapping on the hull. Sailboats are very structurally stable bow to stern and starboard to port but they are not particularly stable when torsionally strained. The bronze strapping ties the frames all together along with the planking to add extra strength in this dimension. In addition, they can also act as a slight protection to the frames if a boat is ever washed up rocks. With this part of the build installed, we also move on to scarfing up our full length planks to get ready to hang Arabella's first planks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

Next to our downtown anchorage in San Francisco are a couple of old ships that we visit. Then we make it across the windy bay to Sausalito where there's no wind at all and over 30 C! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us.
