One of the least explored areas in West Papua Indonesia, Cenderawasih Bay, has become more popular on the last few years. Onboard the Premium dive liveaboard Dewi Nusantara, we spent 10 days cruising and diving around the Marine Park. Remote villages, endemic and rare species, WWII wrecks, pristine and unique coral gardens and the Whale Sharks encounters make this place so special. As the summer continues to heat up, Head of Global Culinary Excellence Jörg Hofmann has prepared a deconstructed paella to pay homage to Southern Europe and Spain. Using main ingredients like chipirones, a type of squid species also known as baby calamari, chicken and beans, Hofmann assembles a dish that might look unrecognizable and different, but brings you to the open airs of Spain once you taste it.

Scuba Diving in Raja Ampat Jumping Ship! Exploring Raja Ampat This week we abandon 'Double Trouble' to spend time on another boat. We fly from Auckland to Sorong in West Papua and move onboard the Indonesian Siren dive liveaboard boat. . We meet up with our friends Penny, Peter and trip directors Ed and Shu for 11 days of absolutely awesome diving around the Raja Ampat Archipelago. We dive with sharks, Mantas, turtles, barracuda, bat-fish and octopus to name a few. There are too many fish to mention, let alone count!. We also sadly witness the huge plastic problem affecting our oceans, even in this remote part part of the world. After 32 spectacular dives, we say a sad farewell to old and new friends and travel back to Auckland, where we resume work on our outstanding boat projects on Double Trouble. We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel! How to Repair a Heat Exchanger /Insulate an Exhaust Riser:Yanmar Engine-Patrick Childress Sailing 44
Patrick Childress Sailing demonstrates how to Repair, Rebuild, Replace our Yanmar 4JH3E marine Heat Exchanger & exhaust Riser on our cruising sailboat. Also, how to insulate the new marine exhaust riser on our Yanmar 4JH3 Diesel engine. the old insulation was asbestos, but this new exhaust wrap is not. In this sailboat repair video, sailor Patrick Childress removes the old heat exchanger and the marine exhaust riser and brings it to a heat exchanger shop recommended to us called Empengani Progress, close to Richards Bay South Africa. They say they can rebuild the Heat Exchanger to like new condition. A new marine heat exchanger from Yanmar would cost $3000-$4000. Yanni Enterprises in Zululand Yacht Club boat yard made us a new exhaust riser out of 316 and 304 Stainless steel. It wasn’t cheap, but it was very well made and needed very little coercion to fit it back on to the heat exchanger of our Yanmar 4JH3E Diesel engine. Empengani Progress shows how to take apart the heat exchanger. They then cleaned it all out, welded and rebuilt deteriorated parts of the Corroded cap on the heat exchanger, reusing the core, and then put it all back together again, pressure tested it, and then charged us a very reasonable rate too! Much cheaper than a new heat exchanger! it is always difficult to decide whether to replace or repair a heat exchanger. Once the new exhaust riser was fabricated, Patrick reinstalls it. Because Patrick had removed all of the asbestos insulation on the old marine riser, we had to find a new material to insulate the new exhaust riser, and find out how to insulate a marine riser. There were many Yanmar spare parts that we needed for this rebuild, and we fell back on our old source in the USA, Toad Marine Supply (aka MarineDieselDirect.com, LaserSailingDirect.com, SunfishDirect.com, BoatDollyDirect.com, and Torresen Marine Inc). They are always responsive to emails, and double check everything with part diagrams to be sure we are all talking about the same engine part. They ship Yanmar, Westerbeke, Universal and Volvo Penta Diesel engine spare parts all over the world, as well as other marine supplies, very quickly and very correctly. A VERY DELOS WEDDING!!! YES- this is a video of our wedding, but it’s also much more than that. It’s the story of how Karin and I met, and includes some footage that I dug up from the very beginning of the trip when I first left Seattle and Delos crossed the Pacific. I edited it as a story told to our unborn daughter, who could actually be born at at any time now. It's the story of "How I Met Your Mother." I hope she can watch this in the coming years and laugh at what dorks her parents are :) So here goes: Our story begins 10 years ago in a land far, far away. Your daddy worked in an office and spent most of his days hunched over a computer. Then one day he answered his last email, sold everything he owned and bought a sailboat. Your uncle joined your daddy in Mexico, and together they sailed across the biggest ocean in the world. The met all kinds of people, and had some pretty crazy adventures. Then one day your daddy met your mommy, and boy did they fall in love. They sailed all over the world together, and one day they decided to start a family. And that’s where our story picks up. Please subscribe to support our channel- https://www.youtube.com/svdelos/?sub_confirmation=1 Wanna bing watch? There is a fine art to planking a boat and we certainly are learning that by putting on Arabella's Garboard. This is one of the hardest planks to fit, but that just means it is a perfect test for us to learn the intricacies of planking. Arabella is going to have oak garboards and broadstrakes before we switch over to cedar for most of the rest of her planking. Not only are these bottom strakes a bit difficult to fit, but the fact that they are thick oak boards just makes it that much more challenging. We needed all the clamps we could muster and a few tricks along the way. Including getting some car jacks in play. In the end, the garboard bent into place and we are very happy with how it fit. This is going to be one solid plank and give us some serious confidence out on the ocean going through storms. We also finally get to start seeing some of Arabella's shape coming through, which is really a big treat after so much hard work. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. I work my way westward along the leeward coast of Maui. I anchor a couple times along the way in search of the perfect spot and the anchor continues to foul up on rocks. I finally find a great spot in front of Lahaina. I row ashore in the explorer 200 dinghy and check out the town.
We pick up anchor, raise the sails and set off to Bimini where we check into the Bahamas. Kicking off our first moments in Bimini, it was very magical to be in this water again and cruising. Forced to take shelter from storms in Mackay we take the opportunity to explore inland to Finch Hatton Gorge and hunt for duck billed platypus at Broken River. When paying for a marina berth we try to make the most of the facilities by doing all the jobs that require fresh water. With the bad weather continuing we decide to head back out anyway. We are still at Iguana Island and explore the lagoon out front. I come face to face with 2 large dog snappers and an oyster cruncher (Pompano) but I leave them alone since they are too big for the 2 of us to eat and look for something smaller. Meanwhile Margarida chases a schoolmaster snapper into a cave. I get a bit worried when I see she may have difficulty getting out of the cave so I yank on a flipper and she comes out with a bump on the ass and on her head. She is not too impressed but ends up getting her first small snapper so she forgets the bumps. Also, there is an update on our plans and the gear needed to get us ready for the South Pacific. Nice sail from Kefalonia to Agias Nikolaos on Zakynthos where we go to the superb restaurant Nobelos and our friends take a plane home. We will cross to Sicily again and use the available time to visit the magnificent town of Assos on the westside of Kefalonia.
From SERENE to EXTREME!! 40-KNOT WINDS and 15' WAVES!! This week we test our new sailboat offshore in some pretty wild conditions...on only our 5th day of ownership! After a full 24 hours of some pretty amazing sailing, we hit a storm bank that there's no sailing around. So we gear up, don the vests and clip in for the ride! Cecilia performs it all with a casual shrug while shaking up our belongings like a washing machine. But after the craziness, we get the best reward - a huge pod of dolphins joins us for a full 45 minutes!! Just the extremes we expect when sailing on the ocean. Wouldn't trade it for anything! Enjoy!! And be sure to SUBSCRIBE for WEEKLY CONTENT EVERY FRIDAY! Cheers!! British four-time Paralympic sailor Hannah Stodel is making the final preparations ahead of the Rolex Fastnet Race. Her dream is to become the first disabled athlete in history to race around the world in the 2020 Vendée Globe.
Kai Hockley, Helmsmen on Scaramouche, is just 13 years old and is the youngest crew member competing in this year's Rolex Fastnet Race! In the last Fastnet Race, the inner-city school children from the Greig City Academy in the London borough of Haringey won deserved praise for their campaign on board the old Admiral’s Cupper Scaramouche. “The new crew is a step ahead of the 2017 crew – they have taken a much bigger role on our yachts,” says Greig City Academy’s Jon Holt, who set up and runs their pioneering sailing program. “The key players are Azat Utulas and Seun Williams, both from disadvantaged backgrounds, but key leaders of our students.” Among those joining them will be Christopher-Joel Fredrick and Jaydon Owusu, both 14, who have had their school lives transformed for the better by sailing, says Holt. #RolexFastnetRace

Regardless of the weather, thanks to the flared bow and to the perfectly balanced hull shape, the SP57' cruises very safely and smoothly even in choppy seas. When at anchor, just open the fold-out bulwarks and enjoy all the comforts of the boat.
