We have just left our anchorage in the Scottish Highlands to make the remaining 26 miles to the beginning of the Caledonian Canal. Winds are about perfect and we're able to sail the entire way there, through beautiful lochs and even through a narrow channel in the middle! Once we arrive to the canals, we're quickly hustled inside the first lock and even though a little chaos ensues at first, we make it through and are tied up for the night with beautiful mountain surroundings. Welcome Aboard S/V EVOLIAS! We bought this boat over a year ago, and moved onto her full time back in November. This is our little floating home that we want to travel the world on and she is perfect! She is a 2014 Fontaine Pajot Lipari Evolution Maestro Version and we couldn't be happier to have found her. The maestro version means that she is a 3 cabin version with 2 heads (instead of the 4 cabin version). The starboard hull or right pontoon is a the full owners cabin (our room + bathroom). A full kitchen, including a microwave... yes a microwave even out on the ocean. But this means we use the extra power from our 3 solar panels if we do ever use it. We even have a watermarker on board, which turns the saltwater into fresh water. YUP! We can live off the grid for as long as we want. But aside from all the extras that were were so lucky to inherit with the purchase of the boat, we have installed some simple but very useful equipment to ensure we are as comfortable as living on land our at sea. We stay a couple of days between the big yachts in the Bay of Saint Tropez and Port Grimaud, where we meet our friends. After a magnificent firework show we sail to Les Porquerolles, Le Camargue and finally towards La Grand Motte and Le Grau-du-Roi. Only 75 miles to go to Canet where the cross beam will be replaced.

In this episode we explore Ilot Mato in the Southern Lagoon of New Caledonia. On the way we almost catch a Spanish Mackerel but it outsmarted us just as we got it close enough to gaff. So with hungry bellies we explore the coral reef around the island in an attempt to spear some dinner but to no avail. On our second day at Ilot Mato we climb the island and enjoy the breathtaking views from the top, then attempt once again to spear some dinner. With a coral trout that will only be enough for a taste we put the lines out as we leave Ilot Mato and finally have great success!! In diesem Tutorial erfahren Sie, wie Sie Ewincher, die elektrische Winschkurbel, richtig benutzen. Ewincher wird mit allem für den Gebrauch notwendigen Zubehör geliefert. Ewincher lässt sich ganz einfach einschalten. Drücken Sie zum Einschalten der elektrischen Winschkurbel den Knopf unter dem Akku. Die LED-Anzeigeleuchte leuchtet grün auf. Um den Ewincher auf die Winsch aufzusetzen, müssen Sie die Arretierung der Kurbel öffnen. Hierzu drücken Sie einfach den selben Knopf wie zum Einschalten (unterhalb des Akku). Die Arretierung dient der Sicherung des Ewincher auf der Winsch. Wie wird Ewincher im Elektrobetrieb benutzt? Um Ewincher mit Elektrobetrieb zu nutzen, müssen Sie den Knopf am Griff drücken und die Kurbel in Position halten. Die Trimmgeschwindigkeit können Sie mit der Stärke des Drucks regulieren, den Sie auf den Knopf ausüben. Je stärker Sie drücken, desto schneller kurbelt die Winsch. Ewincher erledigt die Arbeit für Sie. Den einzigen Kraftaufwand, den Sie leisten müssen, ist die Kurbel in Position zu halten. Hierfür empfehlen wir, Ihren Arm im rechten Winkel zur Kurbel zu halten. Sobald der Kraftaufwand größer wird, nehmen Sie die Schultern zurück und lehnen Sie sich etwas nach hinten von der Kurbel weg, um auch Ihr Körpergewicht einzusetzen. Ewincher kann mit beiden Geschwindigkeiten Ihrer Winsch im Elektrobetrieb benutzt werden. - Die grüne Leuchte zeigt an, dass Sie Geschwindigkeitsstufe 1 nutzen, den Schnellgang. - Die violette Leuchte zeigt an, dass Sie Geschwindigkeitsstufe 2 nutzen, den langsamen Gang. Sie können die „Gangart“ auf zweierlei Art ändern: oSchwenken Sie den Ewincher von einer Seite Ihrer Winsch zur anderen: Ewincher stellt automatisch fest, dass Sie die Geschwindigkeit ändern möchten. So können Sie immer die für Sie beste Position am Ewincher beibehalten, egal ob bei Geschwindigkeit 1 oder 2. oAlternativ können Sie leicht auf den Knopf oben auf Ihrer Ewincher Winschkurbel drücken. Wie wird Ewincher im Handbetrieb benutzt? Um Ewincher im Handbetrieb zu nutzen, müssen Sie den oberen Knopf an der Kurbel (unter dem Knauf) gedrückt halten. Wenn Sie den Knopf nicht drücken, ist der Ewincher ausgekuppelt. Dann können Sie die Ausgangsposition auf der Winsch frei wählen. Sobald Sie die ideale Position für die manuelle Winscharbeit gewählt haben, halten Sie den unteren Knopf gedrückt. Nun können Sie Ewincher wie eine herkömmliche Winschkurbel nutzen, egal ob Ihre Winsch sich in Geschwindigkeitsstufe 1 oder 2 befindet. Sie können Ewincher auch als Ratsche einsetzen: Stellen Sie sich vor, Sie möchten nur noch die letzten paar Zentimeter Ihrer Genua bei viel Wind oder unter großer Belastung durchsetzen. Wählen Sie den idealen Ausgangswinkel (bei ausgekuppelter Kurbel). Aktivieren Sie den Handbetrieb (Knopf gedrückt), und nutzen Sie Ihren Ewincher mithilfe Ihres Körpergewichts. Sobald die Position der Kurbel nicht mehr ideal ist, stoppen Sie den Handbetrieb, und Ewincher ist wieder ausgekuppelt. Positionieren Sie ihn neu und kurbeln Sie dann wieder mithilfe Ihres Körpergewichts, usw., bis Sie mit Ihrem Segeltrimm zufrieden sind. Wie wird Ewincher im Kombi-Betrieb benutzt? Sie müssen nur den Elektrobetrieb des Ewincher einschalten (bei Geschwindigkeitsstufe 1 oder 2) und ihn mit Kurbeln von Hand ergänzen, indem Sie gegen das Drehmoment arbeiten. Dies ist besonders bei relativ losen Leinen hilfreich, die Sie gerne schnell einholen möchten. Der Elektrobetrieb von Ewincher allein bietet schon eine Trimmübersetzung von 85 U/min. Durch das Kombinieren mit Ihrer eigenen Muskelkraft, können Sie ganz leicht mit 140 U/min kurbeln - schneller als die Konkurrenz! Je mehr Sie kurbeln, desto stärker wird die Spannung in der Leine. Wird der Kombi-Betrieb zu anstrengend, können Sie einfach mit dem Handkurbeln aufhören und den Elektrobetrieb alleine weiterarbeiten lassen. https://www.ewincher.com/en/

Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

After buying all the wine and gathering all the fruits we needed for hiding in a hurricane hole, we decided to jump in and do some lion fish hunting while we still could! This boat was built in 1986 as a mobile sawmill for harvesting exotic woods in remote locations. It was then acquired by the founder of Crocs who had it refit in 2012 and used it as a way to promote the brand. It has since been donated to AMI Kids to be used to raise money for the charity.
