Brainard Cooper has ben sailing Snipes since 1951. He got his introduction to Snipe sailing from Harold Gilreath and he's been in the class ever since. He counts among his close friends, people he met sailing Snipes in the early 50's. Brainard saw the transition from wood to glass boats. It wasn't an overnight transition but it was clear what direction the class would take when Lofland started building a low cost fiberglass production boat that required very little maintenance. He tells a few stories as only he can and gives us reason to value the history of the Snipe Class and those who made it such a strong class.
