There is a tiny island in Panama where 3 spider monkeys live that once were part of a research station. They are quite cheeky, walk like humans and if you are not careful, they will take off with your camera. It feels so good to finally explore the beautiful country Panama a little bit and not just be stuck in boat refit projects all of the time. Together with my friend Pierrique I go for a boat ride, we spear fish some fresh lobster that our local friend prepares for us and we ride through the jungle on horseback. This is how I imagined the cruising lifestyle to be like and I am extremely grateful for these happy moments between boat jobs to fill up my energy level! My diesel engine had been stalling for a while now — and in this episode, I finally find out why. After some thorough digging (and a bit of frustration), it turns out the issue wasn’t anything dramatic… but surely not what I had expected. Join me as I clean out the diesel tank, change the fuel and oil filters, and install a new Racor fuel filter to help prevent future issues. It’s a simple but essential part of keeping life afloat as a liveaboard — and a reminder that not all boat problems require big repairs… sometimes, it’s just about staying on top of the basics. If you’re curious about diesel engine troubleshooting, liveaboard sailboat maintenance, or you’ve ever wondered why your engine might suddenly stall, this one’s for you. We set out from Shelter Bay Marina in Panama, bound for the beautiful Bocas del Toro — but things didn’t exactly go as planned. With my friend Dimitrios joining as crew, what started as a trial sailing passage turned tense: our engine suddenly failed, just as wild thunderstorms began to roll in across the Caribbean. Caught between failing gear and looming storm cells, we had to make some tough calls. Could we sail through? Would it be safe to push on? Or was it smarter to reconsider our route entirely? This episode dives into the real-life decision-making and unpredictable nature of liveaboard sailing — where plans change fast, and safety always comes first. Join us aboard Karl for a ride that’s equal parts challenging, beautiful, and deeply real.

The MD35 daysailor is the result of long discussions between some of the most experienced sailors in world yachting. They identified the need for a for a fast, stable design which sails to windward as well as she goes off wind, with the ability transport nationally and globally easily and cheaply. The design needed to combine classical style and grace with a simple layout for sailing, transportation and maintenance. Mills Design has created in the md35 a yacht with all these characteristics in an exciting package which is certain to capture a wide following. The LeisureCat 9000 Hardtop (LOA 9.95m / 32'6") has been chosen by many Police and Sea Rescue groups for its ability to handle tough conditions. LeisureCat Patrol craft can be customized to suit the individual requirements of the client. As can be seen here, a firefighting unit has been included in this craft built for the Jurien Bay Sea Rescue Group in Western Australia, home to a fleet of fishing and crayfishing boats as well as a fleet of recreational fishermen. Side cockpit doors can be incorporated in all models to allow ease of diver access or recovery from the water. There is a standard access door in the transom leading to a swim platform with dive ladder. The 9000 can be fitted with either inboard/stern-leg or outboard engines. However, the latest outboards have proven to be the engine of choice for their safety, lightness and ease of maintenance.
