Well, really soon we will start building the interior of our Tiny Shipping Container House, so we thought it was a good idea to get our "shop" ready for this next challenge. This week we build a stand for our table saw (Dewalt DW745). This is the first of three 'benches" we intend to build. In addition to this one, we will have one for the miter saw and another plan working bench that will work as an extension for the other two. We hope you guys enjoy the build. Next week we go back to the building of our Tiny Shipping Container House. If you enjoy what we are producing and want to join the crew feel free to check out our Patreon page: http://www.patreon.com/oddlifecrafting This is the twenty-seventh episode towards our goal of building, by ourselves, a Tiny Shipping Container House and producing a Youtube Series about it called Living Tiny Project. So we found a boat that will fit in our garage, for $1000. This smaller boat will let us learn how to before we try our hand at larger vessels. I get to work on the mechanics, Danielle gets to make it look good. Follow along as we restore this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider 175 breathing new life into this old boat. Yes, we have been told a boat is a hole in the water to throw money into, but so is everything else you own. Once this boat is restored we plan to take expand our Explore Florida to only places you can get to with a boat. This is also part of a bigger dream we have that we will reveal later. Day one of owning this boat and the to-do list is growing. If you have any ideas we would love to hear them. This boat needs a ton of work after years of neglect. Don't know if we made the right choice getting a 2004 Bayliner Bowrider 175 boat that needed this much work to restore.  Right now we know the Mercruiser 3.0L has a stuck valve, the floor needs a lot of work, the wiring is a mess, etc. We are just going to take the boat restore project of this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider 175 one day at a time. Took us about 2 hours to take the head off this boat engine for a Mercruiser 3.0 Liter engine in a 2004 Bayliner 175 Bowrider. The head did have a valve that was stuck, so we are going to have to get that machined, but I was really happy with the condition of all the parts as we took this apart. The Mercruiser 3.0L seems to have scare-free cylinders that you could barely hang your nail on. Still worried cause of the big jug of oil on the boat. If this engine gets a new head and then there is a ring issue on the piston or the engine was overheated, we are going to have some issues. All of our sailboat repair and maintenance blogs are now hosted on our dedicated maintenance channel, MOTHERSHIP MAINTENANCE Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/c/mothershipmaintenance An edited version of this video is now hosted there. Scrubbing the Mould (Mold - sorry USA!) from the fresh water tanks of our boat - Urgh! These maintenance video blogs aren't to show anyone HOW to do a repair or replacement job - they're just how WE did it with the equipment, resources, tools, information and skills available at the time. Some systems are unique to our type of boat - Amel Super Maramu - or some of you may know it as the SV Delos Boat.. yes it's the same make and model! So please use the comment section below to add any expert advice or experiences so we can all benefit and save money and time by repairing and maintaining our own equipment. TRANSCRIPT We've opened the water inspectionhatches just to take a quick look inside the tank and to our horror it was covered in mould (mold). Now, we've opened up a can of worms because we found that was three inspection hatches in three different compartments of the water tank and to get to all three we've got to move the dishwasher from under here we're going to remove the pan rack here and worst of all we've got to remove this freezer unit which is completely plumbed into the compressor and everything else. And there're screws everywhere, there're screws under the pan rack, there're screws under the floorboards there're screws on the side and there were even a couple of screws fibreglass in on this side nest to the compressor now Amels are quite unusual they've got the water tanks actually housed in the keel here and it's in three parts but luckily each part has got its own separate access hatch all of the water has been stored in this three-part tank and the keel bolts actually fit in through the bottom of the tank. So finally we took all of the screws out and we still couldn't get it out but it turns out it's just so tightly jammed in we've had to revert to a bit more brute force and jimmy the whole thing up and it just popped out. And so now we're going to remove the whole thing and see what horrors we got down below. Every day we had to put things back so we could live on the boat and then take it apart again to clean out the tanks and we use long scrubbers mops and elbow grease and detergent to really get rid of all of the mould (mold) before we felt that it was safe to use. The next thing to do was tee off the water pipe to put a fresh water tap in but previous owners modified their plumbing system so we had a mixture of Imperial and metric systems so it took some time to work out a relatively easy step of just teeing off a pipe. Why are you changing them? Well I've got a double one - the single ones under there and I want to use the single ones in the engine room So since then we've replaced the single filter with a double filter we've got a carbon filter on the left-hand side and the five micro filter on the right-hand side. I know a lot of people like you use a double filter before the water goes from the shore into their tanks but I'm kind of the opinion that a little bit of chlorine and the tanks isn't a bad thing because it might hold that mould (mold) at bay. And we don't have to replace the carbon filters much because it's only filtering out drinking water and not tap water for washing up and showering in things that. So it goes through the carbon filter, through the five micron filter and then up to the drinking water tap. No more more bottled water and no more plastic bottles. Nice. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

All of our sailboat repair and maintenance blogs are now hosted on our dedicated maintenance channel, MOTHERSHIP MAINTENANCE Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/c/mothershipmaintenance An edited version of this video is now hosted there. TRANSCRIPT What's your job today Woody? It's the toilet - we've got a leakage on the toilet. A leakage?! I'm trying to find the right spare part by taking other ones apart. OK. You've got lots of spare parts there Woody! I'm replacing the Joker Valve which is a fairly simple job to do but it's rather unpleasant because you've got to flush fresh water into the pipe because there's always some backflow as you take the Joker valve off. So whatever's in the holding tank comes back out. So I've flushed a load of fresh water through, taken the pipe off. When I took the joker valve out I found that there's a lot of calcium deposits in there so I'll scrape that out with a screwdriver as best I can and give it a clean-out. So that's calcium look. Yes that's what they say you have to bang it don't you? And now I'm just putting the new joker valve back in. So the new joker valve is back in so we shouldn't have any more backfill from the toilet hopefully. So no more unpleasant smells. You've got to make sure you get the right part because there's so many different models of jabsco toilets. If you don't get the right part it doesn't work so luckily they kind of do this simple diagram on the front so you don't get the wrong part and you can identify them all with the label so the different models have got different labels. And it's quite an expensive service pack so you don't want to get it wrong. Ok I think we're good to go! What we do is we have a salad dressing. So we've got a good olive oil, we've got a nice white wine vinegar and squeeze of lemon so you can use this actually with your salad as well. So we'll squeeze it, squirt it down there just a couple sprays and then the olive oil will lubricate it, the vinegar will keep the calcium at bay and the lemon just kind of just takes this the smell away from the the vinegar otherwise it smells like a fish and chips shop. Having sharp tools is important. As temps are warming up and we are getting back into the thick of boatbuilding work, we felt this would be an appropriate video. Well kept tools lead to fun, productive and safe work. There is nothing worse than trying to get a job done with the wrong tool or one that does not work as it should. In this video we show you Steve's process for sharpening his edge tools such as chisels and planes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

E96 Vlog of Life in a Nutshell RV travels. We left the state park and headed off to be de-winterised which appeared to be a simple operation, but, alas. We checked out the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City, Oklahoma and learnt more about the history of the road and the people who built and traveled along it. We stepped back in time and experienced an original fried onion burger at Sid’s Diner. The onions are actually fried in with the burger on the hot plate which was a new invention at the time. We had a good look at the U-Drop Inn Cafe, Shamrock in Texas which was a stunning art deco building. We loved it! More issues with the hot water system left us without hot showers… we had to call the Man. Here’s some of the stuff we came across along the way: Skydance Bridge, Motel Ranger, Johnnie's Grill, Robert's Grill, Sid's Diner, Pony Bridge, Lucille's Gas Station, Clancy Motel, National Route 66 Museum, Sayre Campground, West Winds Motel, Elm Motel, Water Hole 2, Hitching Post Bar, Shamrock Country Inn and the U-Drop Inn. We hope you enjoy traveling along with us as we drive across America in an RV, on the historic Route 66, taking in the sights and learning about the history. We've spent months trying to come up with a hard dodger design which is going to be practical for our passage to the PNW via Japan... Building a hard dodger from scratch is no easy task, but finally crunch day arrived and we had to get started on our mini boat refit. So, after a few false starts, we began working on a template with our carpenters. It needs to be sturdy and capable of withstanding some of the harsh weather we expect to encounter during the passage. The current set-up will not cut it because above all we need shelter from the sea, rain and wind to have at least a chance of remaining dry. Without your encouragement we would not be producing regular videos or be able to continue to push and stretch our imaginations, both in terms of creativity and sailing to new destinations. 🙏 SUPPORT US THROUGH THE RUM FUND http://followtheboat.com/THANKS/ 🙏 SUPPORT US ON PATREON https://www.patreon.com/followtheboat Thank you, friends! We made a big mistake. We shouldn't have started the refit with the boat in the water, and the consequences of that mistake mean we have to move the boat missing portlights, sails, grab handles, deck hardware, etc. 70 nautical miles to an affordable boatyard. There aren't any other good, affordable, DIY liveaboard boatyards any closer to us. Once the boat is in the new yard, we can continue the full refit of Freebie, starting with the deck. The plan is to completely refit the boat for world cruising over the next year or so. Yes, we plan to sail the world on a boat we got for free. Initially this wasn't the goal, but now we realize Randi and I don't need any more boat than we have. 32' is certainly large enough and the construction of the boat is solid. With Freebie properly outfitted, we have no problems taking her across oceans. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ Link to MANTUS : https://www.mantusmarine.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. After some more rainy days in France, we get some last minute maintenance out of the way, and head out to sea again! Although we would love to make it directly to Spain, the Forecast has been confusing and we can´t decide until we reach Brest. After that, it´s 100% comitment all the way to the Spanish Coast. We have some surprising company along the way that made our voyage much nicer! If you like our videos, make sure to subscribe so you know everytime something new is out! In this episode, Bikinis and Dinghies, we explore Polly's Cove, remove the winter cover/enclosure and remove the framework from the boat. We also buy our very first dinghy! If you like my videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** The time had come to depart Fiji and this time we had a bit of company. Two other Fountaine Pajot catamarans joined us for the passage over to Port Resolution, Vanuatu. But before we could clear out of Fiji, we had to celebrate the Admiral's birthday! Once that was properly celebrated, the race was on! We jumped out strong at the start but faced a few challenges along the way, including a pretty significant mechanical failure. Fortunately, we managed an emergency repair (in the middle of the night!) and worked hard to make up the lost ground, trying out different sail combinations and playing the forecasted wind shifts. Who won? Well, you'll just have to watch and find out! :) Thanks for watching! A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

We are clawing our way out of winter! Work is getting back on track and what better way to start finalizing our keel timber. We spent the first tentatively "warm" days finishing getting the keel timber to its final thickness along with a couple of outings. We are gearing up for a VERY BUSY summer. So, buckle up!! Music by Kogane (https://soundcloud.com/kokogane) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly?

Steps that may help you prepare your children for tomorrow. We are not saying we have all the answers, just like you, we struggle with decisions we have made. There is not a one size fits all and we all make mistakes when it comes to raising our kids, but we do the best we can with the tools we have available to us at that time. We think kids should know before they go out on their own how to grow there wealth, not just make it. When we were young we were taught to work really hard and pay your debt, while this was great advice it was only half of the equation. Yes, we need to work hard, also should pay our financial obligations, but we always pay ourselves first. This means we write ourselves into the monthly expenses, not just hoping for leftovers. What we have worked over the years is to teach our children to invest for their future, not to become debtors enslaved to a life they can not change. Yes, we said slave, because as financial responsibilities go up it limits or restricts prospects for the future. They may not be able to do something they love, financial obligates may exceed what their dream will afford. Also without having a safety net, they may be moving back home when bumps come up, like car repair, or you lose a job. Our advice to our kids starting out was to save and invest when you can put 25% or more of your pay in investments just do it. Have fund ready to cover things that pop up, our son just had an issue with his car, but at the age of 19, he had the funds to fix it. Have a budget for your money, remember to pay yourself, and always know where your money is going. And finally think before you spend, your cash is directly tied to your time, when you are looking at things to buy think, how much time will that cost me. We hope this help other parents, raising your children can be hard, but watching them grow up into successful productive adults is rewarding. Parents you are the ones planting the seeds for tomorrows future, our future leaders of industry and business.

What a winter!.... We felt that this would be a good time to put out our dissimilar metals experiment back to back and then hit it hard next week with a full length video. When mixing metals in a build, there are a lot of things to consider. Not only do the metals interact with each other when submerged in salt water, but some also have adverse effects on the wood they are embedded into. We speak a little bit about that in this video.

E94 Vlog of Life in a Nutshell RV travels. We leave Bennett Spring State Park and head along Route 66. We pull up at the Springfield Visitor Centre and meet a lovely lady who gives us the rundown on some of the iconic sites on Route 66. Magnus gets his fix on Route 66 and drops in to Bass Pro to check it out. We head out of town and come across Sinclair Gas Station which is one of the earliest icons on Route 66. A good poke around and we find out about more of the history of the Mother Road. Other places we see along the way: Lebanon, Conway, Mansfield, Holiday Theater Springfield, Rest Haven Court, Rancho Motel, Glenstone Court Motel, the Rail Haven Motel where Elvis Presley stayed, Steak n Shake and the ghost town of Spencer. We hope you enjoy following along with us as we head across America on the historic Route 66 taking in the sights and learning about the history.
