Well... we broke a plank. No worries though. We got it fixed and back on the boat. That's how we roll here... with the punches and not against them. We got a lesson in how far you can push a plank to bend and from now on will know what we can and can't do in that instance. The are a of the stern where we are now planking has a lot more twist than in most other sections, and although we managed to get the plank in place, we then started hearing some crackling noises. So, Steve worked on replacing and re-scarfing that end of the plank so we could work on getting it back on the boat with only a minimal setback. We are then going to be steaming in the places which require an inordinate amount of twist. So there is that to look forward to in the coming episodes! Remember folks! Molehills, not mountains! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

I start the full size boat build of model I designed. This is a step by step video documentation of the build after 11 days of work. It is a unique home build I have been wanting to try and decided to finally give it a go. It is a reasonable project for the DIY home builder with moderate wood working experience and a low overall cost. Some extra things going on include some surfing, art (I start a new painting) and adventure. Enjoy

I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

We sail across from Italy to Sardinia and manage to avoid lightening storms and then fill up with water in the busy port of Olbia. Finding water is never an easy thing so we are very careful with how much water we use but this is quite tricky while keeping on top of the clothes washing with a family of five. We hang out with another boat family who we have made good friends with even celebrate an early Christmas with them as now that planse have changed, we cannot be with them in the Canaries this year. We cannot find a weather window to get through the Bonifacio Strait so we decide to head South and cross to the Balearics from there. We ride out a storm gusting up to 50 knots and get 3 visits from the coastguard to check our documents before finally heading in the direction of Spain. We are a family of 5 and make our own electricity and water, homeschool the kids and do our own boat maintenance. Our dream of cruising and exploring the world's oceans is matched with a desire to live a more off-grid and sustainable lifestyle. A background as RYA instructors, flotilla skippers and RNLI crew only partly prepared us for the challenges of this live-aboard lifestyle! Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** The iconic blue train ride from Kandy to Ella in Sri Lanka is one of the most scenic train rides in the world. So of course we had to check it out for ourselves and see if it was worth the hype. IT WAS! Taking the train allowed us to tour the mountains of Sri Lanka and their famous tea fields. We checked out the beautiful town of Ella, before stopping into Nuwara Eliya where we visited the Victoria Gardens, toured a tea plantation and then attended my first high tea at the Grand Hotel. So fancy are we! Thanks for watching! Hit the Jeep with the Foam Cannon, and Foam the Engine removing Grease and Dirt. This Foam Cannon came with our Electric Pressure Washer and we just love it. Really beats the Sponge and Bucket to clean your car and seems to use a lot LESS Water. We have now had this pressure washer just over a week and it is wonderful to have around and saves you tons of time cleaning Since our first video the company has updated the pressure washer with some improvements we talked about in our video. These pressure washers are light, no fuel required, and just a great tool to have on hand. See our last video on this as we unbox, assemble, and put the pressure washer to the test cleaning the entire front of our home. In ths video, DIY Jordan Series Drogue, I show you how we made our Jordan Series Drogue (drogue sea anchor) using instructions from Sailrite with modifications and improvements. We were planning a serious offshore passage and a sea anchor was on our list of highly recomended items to bring along. Jordan Series Drogues are not cheap to have made/buy but lots of people have made their own but be warned - it's A LOT OF WORK. Enjoy the video! (helpful links below) We FINALLY got on board with PATREON! If you like our videos and want to see more/better videos, more often you can become a patreon supporter: https://www.patreon.com/sailingbalachandra If you like these videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is our YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. We also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Fixing bulkheads and chainplates, on a sailboat, using Formica, a laminate trimmer and a multi-tool ; from walls, to bulkheads, shelves to headliners; why not....its easy to do yourself, a cheap alternative to painting, and it can be very pretty too. In this case, we finish a repair on a sailboat bulkhead with Formica, using a laminate trim router and a multi tool. This is Part 2 of the bulkhead repair... Leaks from chain plates over the years had caused some rot and water damage to the bulkheads. Patrick made a strong repair to the bulkhead with fiberglass, but now it looks so ugly! This video shows how he uses Formica to both protect the fiberglassed, epoxied wooden bulkheads, as well as make everything look a whole lot prettier, inside and out. This video similar to Sail Life’s Bulkhead Beautification- DIy Sailboat Repair, except being uses paint. Here is the video from Sail Life : https://youtu.be/DSiD_JQPphw Sailing around the world requires constant boat maintenance and boats repairs, to keep the boat seaworthy and floating. This is just one more thing to make sure the boat is strong, and that the standing rigging and mast stays standing. How to repair a bulkhead in a sailboat will show you that this diy boat project doesn’t have to be complicated, and that you can do it yourself with the proper tools. DISCLAIMER: Putting Formica over rotten bulkheads is not going to protect bulkheads. The rot must be repaired and the wood must be sealed with epoxy before Formica or Wilsonart laminate is put on top, as shown in previous video. Your situation could be different and. A professional boatbuilder should be consulted. A strong bulkhead is what holds your chainplates, which si what holds your rigging up! You must be sure everything is strong! https://youtu.be/nvhBiWiPaw0 WhitePsotPirates just release “Cruising up the Coast of Canada at 13+ knots through crazy tidal rapids...Check them out...a great sailing channel! https://youtu.be/D3fFCrvEGfQ Please start your Amazon shopping here if at all possible; as a West Marine and Amazon affiliate, we may make a small commission from any purchase at all that you make : https://amzn.to/2K9MmuA Practical Sailor Article on Titanium that Patrick wrote: http://whereisbrickhouse.com/2019/10/25/titanium-chainplates/ Makita Laminate Trimmer: https://amzn.to/2ssmOAu Makita Multitool (we have a no name) https://amzn.to/2OvtxCb ▬▬ FOLLOW ALONG! ▬▬ ✩Instagram: http://www.Instagram.com/svBrickHouse ✩ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/SYBrickhouse ✩ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SVBrickhouse ✩Our blog: :http://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com ✩Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/PatrickChildress ✩Tshirts and other: https://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com/store Wish we were on Patreon? There is always a ton of stuff going on at the same time here. And although some of it is behind the scenes action and not necessarily boatbuilding per se, there is a lot of the project spent working on some really interesting random things! Figuring out how to make tools to make the build easier is one of the fun ones. We deal with one of these in this episode to help us with the graving pieces. We also get a thumb attached to the backhoe, glue up another plank, talk about the SAILCARGO project and finally, mark for the bilge bands. This last part will give a little understanding to something that will be a fun little challenge down the road and which we are excited to get into. But for now, enjoy this little episode packed full of many different tasks! As mentioned, we are setting up our merchandise for the holidays and hoping to get the last few items up in the next couple of days. Some will be in time for the holidays and some will have to be New Year's gifts ;) We now have long sleeve shirts on offering, including safety orange ones for all those guys needing long sleeves and high visibility at work! (we listened!) Coming soon and hopefully in time will be some Acorn to Arabella pins which would make perfect stocking stuffers! Beanies (winter hats) are coming soon. And our favorite but which might be a bit late are some really great insulated travel mugs with our logo on them. All items will be available on our site under merchandise ( linked here: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/merchandise ) The deadline for orders to be able to be shipped in time in the continental U.S. is December 4th (sorry to all international folks... we didn't make it in time!) Thank you all for the support and we wish you all Happy Holidays!

And YOU could be sailing SY Esper: http://followtheboat.com/ftbmates/ This latest episode just about typifies what it means to be a cruiser in SE Asia. Boat maintenance (of course), sailing in testing seas and anchoring off a desert island. After the six month passage through Indonesia, we take a quick stop at Sebana Cove Marina in Malaysia to check-in and get some boat chores ticked off the list. Liz goes up the mast to sort out the Aqua Signal tricolor which hasn't been working for the last 500 miles. And while she's up there we finally hose down and clean our mildewed spreaders. After a few beer o'clocks and provisioning, it's time to sail 100 miles to the paradise island of Pulau Tioman in the South China Sea. Since then he's rebuilt the big diesel engine, stripped off the teak decks, and refinished some wood, but there's still about 99% of the project left. This one's a little different! We took a 2020 Key West 219 FS out to the reef in Islamorada, Florida to do a little spearfishing last weekend. We're still novices at freediving and spearfishing, but we hope to practice much more in the coming year so that we can be good at obtaining our own food when cruising. Let us know what you think about this type of content in the description below. We'd like to do more videos like this and hopefully catch more fish next time! Our move didn't go exactly as planned. We finally got a hold of Ramon(our dock maintenance guy) but his communication lacks a bit. Ok, maybe more than a bit and we're a little bum that we didn't get to film our bit for it but none the less, we're moved to the dock we want to be on. As they say "beggars can't be choosers" and we're just thankful for the help! Now that we're next to our new friend "Ken" he's given us some good advice. The first thing was "stop killing yourselves trying to sand down the entire boat at once. Compartmentalize and do it in sections or you're going to go crazy!" We, like maybe some of you are saying "how much sanding can we really do/want to watch in this multihull?! Well, we decided to sand down the port side completely and start there! We should be ready for paint after a couple spots that need to be done by hand and some good cleaning since everything is now covered in dust! Getting Brittany to help in the tight areas is like pulling teeth.....or staples. Lol. She did however setup a xmas tree so that we could get out our yearly epic holiday card out in time. Fractional Yacht Share THE BEST YACHT SHARE OWNERSHIP PROGRAM AVAILABLE Simple: With a one-time investment, you’ll be the proud owner of a 1/7 share in a new luxury catamaran. After 6 or 7 years, the yacht is sold and a substantial portion of the investment is returned to each shareholder. That’s it. Convenient: No insurance fees, no maintenance fees, none of the usual hassles of ownership. No need to worry about upkeep. Use the yacht once a year. No need to try to account for multiple weeks. When it’s time to sell, all you do is collect a substantial amount of your initial investment. Affordable: If you like to charter, then this syndicated program makes financial sense. If your initial investment is 135k, expect up to 100k back! That would be 7 weeks of crewed charters for 35k (normally 1 week would cost you +25k).

Giving some love to our mast. This week we decided to tackle the mast of our sailboat after 22 years exposed to the weather. We also took some time to grease properly our winches, as we did a mistake last week greasing our winches. If you didn't watch last week's video check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbUwmEaaBeA&t=657s Our friend's channel (Unforgettable Sailing): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClWGSLRrdIW0S4bxPo0C5cw If you are new here... we are a Brazilian couple that have just bought a 44ft hot galvanized steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) and is on the mission of bringing her back to life after 22 years abandoned on the hard. Once we are done, the plan is to sail her to our home town Florianópolis so we can finish building our land base, a Tiny Shipping Container House that we are building ourselves without any prior experience. After finally hauling out our sailing catamaran to diy the bottom paint we decide to head down to Fort Lauderdale to meet with our families and friends. We motor our way down through the intercostal waterway from Pompano Beach to Fort Lauderdale crossing a number of bridges and then we sail down to Miami because we were unable to make water in the canals.. As we sail we find a large pack of dolphins that sail with us for almost 30 minutes. ☺ Support our production and help our channel grow by giving this video a THUMBS UP and SUBSCRIBING to our channel! ☺ Join our Patreon crew to get on board with us! ☞ https://www.patreon.com/livinghakuna Find our gear here: ☞ https://livinghakuna.com/our-gear/ ⇩ SUBSCRIBE ⇩ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrlbNFmD2FNK9srrkjTnIPA?sub_confirmation=1 ☞ Instagram: https://instagram.com/LivingHakuna/ ☞ Facebook: https://facebook.com/LivingHakuna ☞ Website: https://www.livinghakuna.com ☞ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/livinghakuna

We had to get this $100 Pressure Washer and Review its claim of 3000 PSI putting it to the test cleaning our filthy driveway. In this video, we clean the driveway, sidewalk, rock work on the house, and the garage windows. There were years of mold and dirt buildup on all of it and wasp nest up in the windows. Like we said there was, but it is all gone now. Jump To: 00:00 3000 PSI Pressure Washer Review, Clean Driveway Intro 01:12 Unbox the Power Washer 04:56 Put the Power Washer together and show how to start the system and the attachments work. 10:05 The spray pattern of each attachment for the Power Washer and what our driveway looked like before washing it. 12:50 Cleaning the driveway, sidewalks, and rockwork, with pictures of after clean. 17:28 Fixing our water hose so we can finish Power Washing, Making a short extension hose for Power Washer. 21:27 Our thoughts likes and dislikes of this Power Washer, and things to come in our next video. Product links: Pressure Washers: https://amzn.to/2pGUgCa Hose Repair: https://amzn.to/2KMYvUd Electric Pressure Washer, High Power Cleaner,1800Watt Washer Machine with 4 Quick-Connect Spray Nozzles, Detergent Bottle: 3500 PSI /2.0 GPM The reason we got this, like many others that live in deed-restricted HOAs, is the HOA will harass and could fine you for not complying with their rules. We do like an HOA because it will keep your neighbor in check, but when they put some focus on you, well it sometimes sucks. We knew we had to work on our curb appeal a bit, not like we want to keep up with the Jones, but forced to. So if you have a similar situation to ours, or you really want to clean something, this power washer is for you. The 3000 PSI is great, really kicks a when you start spraying, and the foam blast, that will be in our next video, is really awesome. I built this system about 15 years ago. At the time the first consumer grade cyclone dust collectors had only just arrived on the market. The website I used for all the information required to build this system: http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/cyclone_plan.cfm I can't find any info on where I bought my airfoil impeller. It was a small manufacturer in Ontario Canada. You can do the sleuth work to figure out who it might have been.

On this episode of Sailing on a Whim, we dive into our final preparations to go cruising but first we head out for the first time on Whim! But of course, we run aground again and almost start a fire! Oh, the joys of owning a sailboat… This crazy adventure started in early 2018 as we started researching learning how to sail, buy a boat, outfit her, and take off for a life on the open seas. There has been a huge learning curve trying to make all of this happen and we want to share with you everything that we have learned and have some fun along the way. We are excited (and a little nervous!) to share this journey with you. We hope that you learn a little from our experiences and maybe inspire you to make changes to live the life you want! —————————————————— SUBSCRIBE & FOLLOW https://www.sailingonawhim https://www.youtube.com/sailingonawhim https://www.facebook.com/sailingonawhim https://www.instagram.com/sailing_on_a_whim https://www.twitter.com/sailingonawhim —————————————————— CONSIDERING BECOMING A PATRON https://www.patreon.com/sailingonawhim —————————————————— GEAR: Cannon EOS Rebel SL2 - https://amzn.to/2y2Hty1 Cannon Powershot G7x Mark II - https://amzn.to/2S6rOVu DJI Mavic Air - https://amzn.to/2W2OYgz GoPro Hero5 - https://amzn.to/2S8FizU Fantasea Line FG7X II - https://amzn.to/2xSuY8q Rode DDG-GO Deadcat - https://amzn.to/2Y4AT4G DJI Mavic Pro Plantinum - https://amzn.to/3eU5tUT —————————————————— RECOMMENDED READING: Learn to Sail – https://sailingonawhim.com/learn-to-sail Cruising Life – https://sailingonawhim.com/cruising-life Maintenance & Repair – https://sailingonawhim.com/maintenance-%26-repair Inspiration & Adventure – https://sailingonawhim.com/inspiration-%26-adventure —————————————————— MUSIC FROM EPIDEMIC SOUND —————————————————— The Abacos area of the Bahamas was devastated by Hurricane Dorian in September 2019. Planking can be a long tedious process, especially when you are gluing up and fastening full length planks. We have gone into much of the details of how we are planking in previous videos, we now want to show some work being done without the interruption of explanations. Sometimes, it can be very satisfying to simply watch work being done. In this episode, we also talk a bit more about a big purchase we've made that will be very handy around the boatyard.

Pumpkin Puree Fresh and Simple, that is inexpensive to make, great for breads and cakes! Recipe Link: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/simple-pumpkin-puree/ Pumpkin Puree is something we have been making for years but it only comes around for a few months during the year. We use it to make our delicious Pumpkin Bread, Cakes and Cupcakes all through the Fall and Winter months! Most pumpkins will not make the Pumpkin pie puree that you desire in a pie because it is a bit stringy. But the pumpkin puree that comes from these types of pumpkins are (in my family's opinion) the best for breads and cakes! We like to call the strings of pumpkin in the puree MOIST makers! There is something that happens in the baking process that makes the MOIST makers (little strings in the pumpkin puree) soak up in the bread or cake and adds so much flavor and softness!  Check out our shop on our website for branded gear: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/our_shop/ Support us by shopping through our Amazon link, cost nothing to you and really helps us out. https://amzn.to/351krTR You Can Also Follow Us On: https://www.facebook.com/ChrisDoesWhat/ https://www.instagram.com/chrisdoeswhat/ https://www.instagram.com/dininginwithdanielle/ https://www.pinterest.com/ChrisDanielleRedding/ Before doing anything related to things we do, here is the Legal Stuff: Disclaimer: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/disclaimer/ Privacy Policy: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/privacy-policy/ Terms Of Use: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/terms-of-use/ You can also follow us on our blog: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/ Or go directly to cooking: https://www.dininginwithdanielle.com If you have a request, please see our blog and go to contact. https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/contact-us/ Video & Blog Productions: Florida Landscapes Explore Florida Recipes with Danielle DIY and HowTo Reviews Boat Restore Playlist: https://youtu.be/AWXqtJuseII Explore Florida Playlist: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/y_explore_florida Jeep Mods Playlist: https://youtu.be/9EwWEwSmZm0 Recipes Playlist: https://youtu.be/rO7LOGQ1Dgg Equipment: All videos are edited with Sony VEGAS Pro https://amzn.to/2GrzE77 Our video studio does have a green screen with umbrella lighting https://amzn.to/2BVIlpq All recording equipment is Sony and our main camera is the HDR-CX675 offering servo steadied filming and 5.1 sound. https://amzn.to/2BlJxQb Affiliate Links: - Shop Amazon at no cost to you, and helps our channel: https://amzn.to/2SMfsjS - Best Blog Hosting: https://www.bluehost.com/?utm_source=www.chrisdoeswhat.com&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=affiliate-link_chrisdoeswhat_notype #ChrisDoesWhat #DiningInWithDanielle #HoMaidChef

In order to sell our mast we needed to take all the winches off of it and we decided to give maintenance to all our winches. But we did it WRONG!! If you are new here... we are a Brazilian couple that have just bought a 44ft hot galvanized steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) and is on the mission of bringing her back to life after 22 years abandoned on the hard. Once we are done, the plan is to sail her to our home town Florianópolis so we can finish building our land base, a Tiny Shipping Container House that we are building ourselves without any prior experience.
