We have installed the boat engine wiring harness on a 2004 Bayliner Bowrider 175, for the Mercruiser 3.0 liter. We may rerun this later of the manifold of the engine,.kinda like how it doesn't clutter the top of the Mercruiser engine in our boat. We still have a little more wiring to do on this boat. Some of the accessories that need to be wired in are missing. The great thing is that it works and we can now power the dash in our boat and most importantly, the radio. You have to have tunes while you do boat work, not a fan of hearing the goblins in my head. The clean up: https://youtu.be/dlsdl9aGWzQ Follow along as we breath new life into this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider. Following Simon Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/finding_simon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/findingsimon Website: http://simonstiles.com/ Asking Simon - Who are you? I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

In this vlog we replace our cutlass bearing in a very unconventional way. We really wish we could have done it the "right" way but previous galvanic corrosion of the strut really made us feel as though we shouldn't remove the old bearing jacket for fear of damaging what little strut was still there. We also continued prepping the bottom for new thru-hulls and bottom paint. We filled holes we don't need anymore, because less holes below the waterline is always a good thing. We can't wait to paint the bottom, because that will mark the last paint job on the exterior that we need to do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. You answered our poll and we're delivering. This is the first of many "Casual Friday" episodes coming your way. Who's excited for more content?! Our old cutlass bearing looks to be corroded in place. Can we leave it there, take out the old rubber, and install the new one inside of the old jacket? Pulled the boat engine wiring harness out of our Bayliner Bowrider 175 and it looks like a rats nest. Wires have been burn, some things have been honkey customized. Spent 3 hours cleaning this up and the results are amazing, I will go into more detail on where the wires run to in the next video. While working on this boat wiring harness we saw were the mechanic had attempted to repair it. I spent half the time on this boat wiring harness repair pulling of,f what looked like, two rolls of electric tape. When doing wiring you don't want to do this, on a boat the tape will hold in water, also while making future repairs much harder. Follow along as we breath new life into this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider.

Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Even Aussies will admit, there isn't a whole lot in the Australian Outback. But what is there, is well worth a visit. We hopped on a flight to Uluru and spent a couple memorable days being wilderness explorers. To start things off, you have to wake up really early in the morning to go and watch the sun rise. Something magical happens when the first rays of the morning hit the rock, it literally turns a vivid red. You have to see it to believe it. After sunrise we, did the basewalk to get a feel for just how massive Uluru truly is. Pro tip... bring a lot of water, it gets hot! Our other big experience at Uluru was the Sound of Silence dinner. This was a repeat for Amy, who'd been here 10 years ago with her dad and brother. We greatly enjoyed seeing stars from horizon to horizon which is normally something we only get to see from our boat. The dinner also brought in an astronomer to explain the constellations we were seeing and share some of the Aboriginal legends about the stars. To cap off our outback exploration, we drove on to Kings Canyon within the Watarrka National Park. There we did a rim hike that rose to a place on my top hikes of all time. It was simply stunning. Red rocks, vivid blue sky and a literal Garden of Eden to relax in. What more could you ask for?? Thanks for watching! The build has been coming along nicely so far. There is only one thing that has really stymied us... The rabbet and bearding lines. Being such an important cut, we have been anxious about not being absolutely sure we are doing it right. So.... we called some friends. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. Alright everyone! Episode 28 is on and this time we'll let you know a bit about what it takes to prepare for an Arctic expedition. We will be sailing to some of the most remote parts of the planet and beeing self sufficient is mandatory! We will need to get our boat in tip top condition and also we'll step in to some very unfamiliar territory. Guns! And we don't know anything about guns! In order to step on land outside the settlements of Svalbard, we are obliges to be carrying a rifle for Polar Bear protection. So if we want to be able to rent a rifle, we will first have to prove we are able to safely handle a fire arm. Also on this episode, we finish installing our Schenker 60 watermaker, fix our Rutland Wind Generator and some other maintenance jobs. ▶ We're in the water, and it feels GREAT!!! LIKE this video and SUBSCRIBE for updates: https://ftbyoutube.page.link/subscribe Oh yes. And since we're in the water, how about servicing our watermaker and replacing the membranes too? It's all in this week's episode, including some great drone footage from Mr American McGee. Thanks, dude. We're now so close to leaving and we're getting super excited. The weather has been unusually sunny and calm, which is odd for this time of year. We can't guarantee it'll hold out like this for our departure but with just the canvas work and a bit of stainless to go, there really isn't much left to do. We've pencilled in 'some time next week' for our departure, but don't tell everyone. A sailor's plans, remember, are written in the sand... Of course there are really a hundred jobs left to do on the boat, but these are listed as 'can be done at anchor', and it's at anchor that we're aiming for. There's light at the end of the tunnel and we can see a palm-fringed island at the end of it. Thanks to all our FTB Mates for your continued support. You keep us motivated and focused. We love you! I haul the boat out for painting and maintenance once a year, but the mast only comes out about once every five years. Well the five years since the last pull is up, so ... I also discuss usual haulout issues such as dealing with blisters, sanding and prepping the hull for painting, repairing some damaged brightwork (the rudder head, in this case), and painting the topsides.
We just got our Bayliner Bowrider 175 back with a freshly rebuilt Mercruiser 3.0. We are now taking inventory of what is needed to get the engine started like restoring the wiring harness, getting everything buttoned up on the engine like the distributor, timing, and the missing hardware. We sent this engine to a mechanic to get installed in our boat because we didn't have a method to remove it. In hindsight we should have not outsourced this piece of the project, the mechanic took a lot of time and lost a lot of engine accessories. This is going to blow the budget our for this boat restore because we paid the mechanic and what we have to buy new on the boat. Last week I painted the deck of my 38 ft sailboat. This video is the primer. This weekend I fix the mistakes in the paint job by sanding the surface with 800 grit and then using 3M perfect-it Heavy Cutting Compound. LIKE this video and SUBSCRIBE for more HERE: https://ftbyoutube.page.link/subscribe All the hard work is finished, now we're just waiting for the canvas to be fitted, then we're off. There are still a few jobs to be done, but they can be completed on the way. Taking off that cover and sitting under the dodger for the first time was worth the wait. We hope you agree. Since we are ahead of our plans, we've re-arranged the passage plan east to Japan and Alaska to include a 2500 mile detour round the west coast of remote Sumatra. Should be interesting... Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** After our (first) road trip in Australia was over, we spent a couple of days in Melbourne, enjoying big city life and hunting down the incredible artwork in the famous laneways. But in our hearts, we are boat people and we were ready to get back out on the water with a trip down to Tassie. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys was kind enough to take us out on a three hour tour (hehe) along the spectacular Tassie coastline between Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck. We got to see the highest sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere, caves, rock arches and the lighthouse at Tasman Island. But I think the highlight of the trip for both of us was the wild life. The fur seals, penguins and albatrosses were pretty damn cool, but it was just absolutely magical to have dolphins flying along with us at high speed. Safely back on land again, we toured the Port Arthur Historic Site which is both the best preserved convict site in Australia, as well as the site of the largest mass shooting in Australia's history. It was a pretty somber day, but it was important to see. Not done yet, we came back to Hobart for an awesome Saturday Market, a "climb" up a mountain with a name that seemed better suited to New Zealand and another mini road trip. We packed a LOT into our time in Tasmania, but it was absolutely worth it. What a stunning place. Thanks for watching!

Everyone hates lovebug season in Florida, they get into everything and will drive you nuts if you go outside. They are not only an annoys but can really damage the finish to your car. If you see some of the older cars in Florida you will notice that a few have some really messed up paint, even coming off in large areas. You can combat this with a little maintenance, even prevent engine damage after a swamp has clogged your radiator. Not Again is like brand new, a pristine example of the Hans Christian Explorer. The design is the ninth design in Chuck Paine’s acclaimed Bermuda series. Tony Seibert based the design on the very successful Hylas 49. Truly a yacht conceived, engineered and constructed for serious offshore passage-making and extended living aboard. She is large enough to take you anywhere in the world in comfort and safety, and small enough to be handled easily by a couple in their later years. The Hans Christian Offshore Explorer was designed as a rugged, blue water sailboat fully capable of circumnavigating the world while offering luxury and comfort that can be appreciated out at sea or on a coastal cruise. She has a shoal draft of 6′ and is one of the highest performance cruising sailboats ever built. She thrives in big seas and will cruise at 8 to 10 knots in almost any sea state. Not Again features the three stateroom, two head layout with top quality construction. This ideal, blue water passage maker has a bow thruster. She has watertight bow and stern areas with reinforced Kevlar and E-glass. 2/3 skeg hung “sacrificial” rudder, oversized standing rigging. There are deck lockers that you can really store items in, a 75hp Yanmar with low hours, Xantrex 1800 watt inverter, 180 gallons of fuel, and 270 gallons of water. She is low maintenance above deck with exquisite joinery below – a rare high quality vessel.
This week we built the ceiling panels for the second part of our shipping container house! Once again we were building something that we have already built on the other part of the house and that’s so cool!! It was a great idea to build one part of the house, to produce a video about it and to share it on YouTube and after that to build the second half of the house. When we do that we have soooo many feedbacks about the process we are doing and the materials we are using that when we build the second half of the house we can always improve the process and materials we are using. This was one of this times. We had already built the ceiling panels for the first part of the house and now we knew exactly what to expect: the equipments we would need, the amount materials we would need, the size of the materials we would need to cut, how we would connect one piece of the panel to the other and so on. In this way we can execute the tasks an amazing velocity and we end up so proud of ourselves!! __________________________________________________ WANT MORE? http://www.patreon.com/oddlifecrafting (Become a Patreon to get instant access to behind the scenes, extra pictures, perks, and even more) _______________________________________ #shippingcontainerhouse #tinyhouse #DIY

s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) sailed from Martha's Vineyard to Newport Rhode Island, with an overnight stop in Cuttyhunk Harbor in the Elizabeth Islands. In Cuttyhunk we had our first boat collision incident since we have Cloudy Bay - a yacht dragged its anchor and collided with us in the middle of the night. And we sustained some damage to the gunwale and gel coat. Once anchored in Newport Harbor, we spent 4 days in the beautiful town, with a balance of both exploring the town and boat maintenance. First, we received several packages of parts and did some maintenance (installed replacement wifi antenna, service bilge pump and generator exhaust). In Newport itself we wandered this historical yachting center of the USA, the quays, wharfs and old town. After the Cliff Walk, we visited some of the Newport Mansions which were built in the late 1800's, most of them overlooking the Atlantic coastline. 31 Aug-4 Sep 2018 To better understand the story-line of this video, we invite you to read our daily sailing blog posts: Day 1 - Martha's Vineyard to Cuttyhunk : http://www.sailcloudybay.com/marthas-vineyard-to-cuttyhunk/ Day 2 - Boat collision in Cuttyhunk & sailing to Newport : http://www.sailcloudybay.com/cuttyhunk-boat-collision/ Day 3 - Newport pick up deliveries & boat maintenance : http://www.sailcloudybay.com/newport-ri/ Day 4 - Cliff Walk & Newport Mansions : http://www.sailcloudybay.com/newport-cliff-walk-and-mansions/ Day 5 - Boat maintenance, bilge pump & generator exhaust : http://www.sailcloudybay.com/newport-tackle-bilge-pump-and-generator-exhaust/
SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Lost At Last was built in mainland China by Seahorse Marine, an accomplished vessel designer and manufacturer with over 30 years of experience building comfortable, long-range passage makers as well as heavy duty commercial vessels. She boasts a very practical and truly spacious layout that is beautifully appointed with rich, old world teak joinery, traditional teak and holly flooring and modern touches including granite countertops, high-end stainless-steel appliances and LED lighting. Lost At Last’s spacious layout is due to the fact that she was designed with a “widebody” Salon with one side deck to starboard that allows for a much larger middle-level living space (Salon and Galley). This extra living space, combined with her large windows and aft watertight DOUBLE doors, provide for a unique indoor-outdoor experience giving her the feel of a beach house or cozy cabin. Her interior spaciousness continues in the professionally equipped Pilothouse, full beam Master Stateroom and well-appointed heads below … one with a soaking tub! An Efficient, Safe and Easy-to-Operate Trawler Built to Go Places: Lost At Last is a full displacement, fiberglass long distance passage maker. Her current owner purchased her in Washington four years ago and after some PNW cruising, brought her home to California where she has served as his local cruiser and waterfront liveaboard home. Equally comfortable at sea or in safe harbor, Lost At Last has a fabulous two cabin, two head layout with excellent indoor-outdoor “flow”, generous and functional living and operating spaces and an impressive array of features and high-end, name brand equipment. From Alaska to Mexico and beyond, Lost At Last is the trawler that can take you where you want to be. Lost At Last is a very intriguing alternative for adventurous cruisers who may be considering a Nordhavn, Kadey-Krogen or Selene and want that same quality fit and finish in a more affordable package. Lost At Last was designed and outfitted with efficient long-range cruising, safe passage making and ease of operations in mind. Lost At Last’s designed safety features include a sea-kindly and proven Blaine Seeley hull, a raised Pilothouse with great visibility, high stainless-steel railings around the entire vessel, commercial grade watertight doors and a protected side deck along the starboard side for safe line handling and forward-aft exterior movement at sea. Importantly, Lost At Last is easy to operate with an all-around view from the spacious raised pilothouse, single lever Glendinning engine controls, bow AND stern thrusters for stress-free docking, a Flybridge with full helm and engine control and instruments and an intuitive, full-featured PC-based navigation system that is easily understood and operated. Starting anew with a fresh boat, every owner of a used boat has a choice in how they look after her. The current owner of Lost At Last started with a gem and continues to polish her. He is a former US Navy Deck Officer and his care can best be described as “ship shape”. He understands the importance of caring for your equipment so that it will care for you and though dining in the engine room is discouraged, you will be surprised at how clean everything is. This priority of maintenance insures Lost At Last is always ready for departure and will be a dependable cruising platform. #JMYS, #Seahorse52, #TalkThroughTour, #Trawlers Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jeffmerrillyachtsales/?fref=nf Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/merrillyachts Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmystrawlers/ Offered by Jeff Merrill Yacht Sales, Inc.
