With some help from Thad and Satchel we decide on exactly where the openings for the fore hatch, house, and cockpit should go. With no experience sailing, it was great to have two very different and accomplished sailors give their input on how best to lay out the deck plan. A bunch of deck beams get bolted into place and some possible ideas for a tender and lifeboat are discussed. Many thanks for following and helping to keep this journey and the weekly videos coming! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interesting in supporting/helping here are a few ways: Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Recurring support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach in Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony with our 4 kids, just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

After a challenging departure from Andros Island still engineless we cross the tongue of the Ocean. We drop the hook in West Bay in New Providence Island where we experience a calm anchorage. From there we do an unexpected stop in Green Cay. And what a surprise, we've never experienced anything like the snorkeling here, being right next to green turtles was unbelievable. Guys it’s a been a while bago ulit ako nakapag upload ng bagong video. Medyo busy lang sa crew changes dito sa barko and still adjusting to the new normal sa trabaho ko ngayon. Alam nyo ba, in-upload ko tong video na eto dahil gusto ko lang magpasalamat sa Diyos dahil nabigyan ako ng opportunity na makabalik ulit dito sa barko para makapag trabaho. We finally made it to our first sail of the year in our electric sailboat, which just happens to be Labor Day weekend. But in Ixion fashion, we still have work to do. Join us on our new expedition! After what felt like an eternity, we finally are able to head out for a short period for a little shake down sail. It isn't a journey just yet, but it was still nice to see what we have been working for for the last six or so months. It definitely felt like the beginning of our new journey. We still have to do a proper shake down to test the limits and power consumption of the electric motor. But first, we have to shake the cobwebs out and sail Ixion. It's the first of the year and we couldn't be more excited!!! Next stop, our sail south to Florida! Of course though, we have a few tiny projects left to do before Ixion is live aboard ready! In this weeks episode we go through some stereotypical Sailboat maintenance shenanigans, and by this we mean, trying to fix something and end up breaking it. Unfortunately for us we discovered the repair had not worked at a very inopportune moment, under sail.... However in true cruiser fashion we improvised using our port side winch until we reached our destination in Grenada where Khiara immediately set about fixing the problem. Despite having a few hiccups along the way we had a riper of a sail down to Grenada from Carriacou arriving with plenty of daylight to spare and a super convenient anchorage waiting for us. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** The passage sailing from Brazil up to Caribbean was supposed to be the last long passage of our circumnavigation. Little did we know it would end up being the LAST LEG as well! The sailing after leaving Brazil wasn't particularly easy. We faced constant squalls and the oh so fun area known as the doldrums as we approached the equator for the 4th time. That meant light and variable winds but we put all the skills we've learned over the last 6 years to use in order to sail as much as we possibly could. It may have been slow, but it was better than motoring! Sailing through the tough conditions took a toll on Starry Horizons, as we faced another issue with our forestay, necessitating an immediate at-sea fix. Going up the forestay on a rocking boat sucks, but we managed to solve the problem and kept the bows pointed towards the Caribbean! Thanks for watching! We do some rudder and hull repairs the get the bottom a'painting done. Finally we are able to get the mast stepped again, using a DIY 'A' frame method. Deck beam construction has begun! In this episode we make great strides towards a framed deck in Arabella. The black locust shelves get varnished and prepped for fastening. Steve spends a rainy day making longer rivets and a bunch of deck beams get cut out and fastened together. Big thanks to Thad and Randy for the helping hands! Thank you for following our journey to build and then sail Arabella! When you splash water near an alligator you won't believe what happens! This is what people call a nuisance alligator and you can take steps in Florida to get them relocated. It's going to be a rough night or a few rough days! We're still in Fresh Creek on Andros Island in the Bahamas. And our little anchorage turns into a washing machine as swell rolls in from the Tongue of Ocean. After a few rolly nights we make it back to shore but our dinghy outboard gives up so it's a long paddle with a welcomed surprise on shore. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #sailing #androsisland #sailingbahamas ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron, donating or becoming a YouTube Member. After finally convincing a friend to buy a boat, we go with him to tour a beautiful 1985 Pearson 303 Sailboat. After the tour we continue our work and install solar panels. Our journey to upgrade Ixion and make him ready to be self sufficient and off grid ready, we get to installing four solar panels and all the electrical that goes with it. But, there isn't a good built in spot for the panels, so we have to get creative and build custom brackets in which to mount them on. watch as we complete yet another project and get one step closer to finally setting sail! —————————————————————————- Who we are: Nick and Jake, gay sailor and filmmakers fresh from Los Angeles currently living in Cape Cod. After over one year refitting this abandoned sailboat we think she deserved a new "identity". We finally renamed our new floating home!! We’re Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that have bought a 44ft steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) that was abandoned on the hard for 22 years in Guarujá, Brazil. We are on the mission of refitting her to travel the world taking our house with us! Before we found our dream boat we had another cool project: we were building our Tiny Shipping Container House by ourselves, without any prior experience to be our land base in our hometown, Florianópolis (Brazil). In August of 2017 we sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is our YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and my partner Nawal as we navigate the globe. We also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard full time. I also connect the NMEA0183 converter to the backbone and splice in the old GPS unit and ST7000 autopilot.. and get rid of a lot of redundant wiring in the process! ______________________________ PLEASE NOTE: YouTube have disabled comments on most of our video blogs (and on other family channels) due to safeguarding issues regarding minors on the YouTube platform. How to replace the crankshaft position sensor for a Jeep Wrangler YJ and XJ. Our Jeep has a body lift on it making this job a little easier. It is still a tight squeeze to reach the crankshaft sensor that is over halfway up on the driverside transmission bell housing. The crankshaft position sensor on most modern Gas and Deisil internal combustion engines. It sends the position and rotational speed of the crankshaft to the ECU "Engine Control Unit" that interprets that making adjustments for optimal performance. Most vehicles will not run if this fails, 1. Issues starting the vehicle If you Jeep Wrangler just won't start a likely cause could be wiring to your crank position sensor or the sensor has failed. 2. Intermittent stalling This can be caused by short in the wiring not sending a signal back to the ECU or in rare cases, the crank position sensor is failing. This should still generate a check engine light. 3. Check Engine Light comes on If you think you are having this issue on your YJ or XJ Jeep wrangler, it would show a code 11*: No crank reference signal detected during cranking. Timing belt skipped one or more teeth; or intermittent loss of either camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Just wait until you watch our friend Hans pilot giant container ships into Brazil! We sailed into Recife, Brazil just in time for the last day of Carnival. After a long passage, we weren't prepared to party quite as hard as the Brazilians but we still had a great time. The best was yet to come though, as our friend Hans, who is a pilot in Recife, offered to take us on a couple of maneuvers. We had to climb up the side of the container ships and got to watch from the bridge as he maneuvered one ship out to sea and then brought the second one into port. It was absolutely amazing. The rest of our time in Brazil was primarily spent on boat projects for Starry Horizons. Our after passage checks revealed problems with our forestay/furler and a rip in a sail. There wasn't a lot of marine services available, but with Hans' help and a little bit of a 'let's just figure it out' spirit, we managed to get everything done. Thanks for watching!
