Korcan Kaptan 3. Port Ginesta Marina Castelldefels Barcelona Spain If you are looking for a great place to keep your boat in the Mediterranean then this is it! We have Marina berths available in Port Ginesta, so if you're looking for a place to keep your boat, come and talk to us. You can be assured of a warm welcome in our office. Located only a few miles southwest of Barcelona, it’s a busy Marina and has been our base for several years. Two superb beaches lie on either side of the Port. One is the go-to place for locals and tourists stretching ten uninterrupted kilometres from Barcelona International Airport. Port Ginesta Marina has plenty to offer boat owners looking for a base that has every marine-related service available, also enjoying quick and easy access by road, rail, sea and air. Port Genista is next to the town of Castelldefels. It is far enough away from the bustling city centre of Barcelona to offer seclusion when needed, as it also has great connections with nature in the adjoining national parks. It's no wonder Castelldefels, and Port Ginesta have become the base for some famous sports celebrities, who demand fast access to boating, and outdoor space when their busy lives allow a little private chill time. The Marina is divided into two, half caters for smaller sports cruisers and yachts, whereas the other half is dedicated to yachts above 12 meters. Renting a jet ski appears to be a favoured pastime for many visitors who want fast action on the water. The boatyard facilities at Port Ginesta are second to none. The yard has an open work policy, this allows boat owners free yard access to maintain boats. Skills are on hand to help if needed for virtually any size of boat or restoration project. Network Yacht Brokers can coordinate and offer advice in all aspects of boat maintenance, including new boat commissioning. Our clients enjoy a free postal drop off service point in the Marina. This postal service helps when clients internet buying. Long- and short-term hard standing is available from both within and just outside the boatyard. A small sports boat crane is situated next to the main travel lift dock where a special catamaran ramp and lift was installed during 2021. Port Ginesta is one of only a few yards along the Spanish coast to offer a facility to lift catamarans out of the water without the risk of stressing a hull. The main Marina building is where you'll find advice for some boat-related services. Behind the Marina, the building is a conveniently placed launderette and one of a few shower and toilet facilities for berth holders. A manned serviced fuel pontoon has more than enough capacity to accommodate visiting boats and yachts of any size. A conveniently placed cash machine behind the fuel pontoon and at the Marina entrance function around the clock. When it's time to relax, take your pick from one of many excellent restaurants based in the Marina, I've included images of our favourites, but there are lots of restaurants to choose from. If you're looking to provision your boat, there is now a well-stocked supermarket within the Marina complex. Venture outside the Marina into Castelldefels town and you'll find no-end of entertainment, great bars and restaurants are just a short distance from the Marina entrance. My recommendation is to spend time in Castelldefels pedestrianised town centre, which is just a little further back from the main tourist strip known as Castelldefels Playa. Thanks for watching the video, if you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up, subscribe to our channel as this helps with the Google algorithm. If you are visiting Port Ginesta Marina, please visit Network Yacht Brokers even if it’s just to say hi, we'll be happy to see you.
I thought of an easy and inexpensive roller furling to add a jib to my 11 foot Snark sailboat. This DIY installment video has everything you would need to know about how it works and how to build it. The second half of the video is a scenic test of the furling jib and it was a success. The day presented a window of light winds and warmer weather to give it a go. Enjoy ZPLAA
The flip side of our rough and rather frightening passage down from Bermuda, in which we nearly lost the rig and my own life a couple of times, was the purchase and install of a new Harken MkIV-Mod3 Ocean Series furler. As part of this upgrade, we replaced the headstay as well. In truth, this was necessary as the old one was captive to the original furler, but to keep the headstay when doing a project this intense would have been foolish and incredibly shortsighted. People have asked why we hadn't replaced it earlier, and the answer there was twofold. First, the old one, while finicky, had worked well enough over the years. It was just very difficult to get the halyard tension just right, and when it wasn't right the swivel tended to ratchet instead of glide. And then all of a sudden it wasn't just ratcheting, it was locked tight. With the huge 145% genoa fully deployed at sea! So $7,000 later, new furler. But being the "glass half full" people that we are, we view it as one less purchase needed for our planned late 2022 standing rigging upgrade. sailing talisman, sailing, sailing youtube, boating, top sailing, oyster yachts, oyster sailboats, oyster 485, offshore, bluewater, blue water, sailing vlog, sailing vblog, sailing channels, sailing videos, cruising, monohull

Winter camping with an old friend. Checking out all our gear and trying our new tents. With my good friend, Nick.
Curious to see how we transformed this run-down vintage Airstream into our dream tiny home on wheels?! THIS EPISODE We take you back to January 2021, when we purchased this dumpy Airstream trailer with a vision to turn it into our dreamy mobile home: ► in JUST 60 DAYS, ► with very limited carpentry experience, ► on a small budget, ► while squatting on our friend's property, ► without a workshop.. in Canada during.. WINTER, ► while working full-time in healthcare amidst a PANDEMIC, ► whilst attempting to film the entire process! THIS is where it all began. It was our first time picking up our camera & learning how to talk to it (still very weird). Riveting, plumbing, electrical, propane systems, building cabinetry.. the list goes on. We learned how to do it ALL. AND it was dirty, disgusting, frustrating and very challenging. . In this first episode we take you on a tour of this 26ft. vintage AIRSTREAM Overlander (circa 1968) the day after we bought it (for $8000 on Kijiji). We talk through the plans for the build AND jump right into the DEMOLITION process! We'll be posting weekly videos that document this tiny home build over the next few weeks before launching into our next adventure! You don't want to miss it. SUBSCRIBE! ► for a new video every single Wednesday https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUsg... If you're into outdoor adventures, tiny homes (on wheels & with sails), off-grid living and DIY projects, then you'll want to click that notification bell & follow along ;) WHO WE ARE We are a couple from opposite sides of the world living together in a teeny-tiny 160 square feet. Our current tiny home is a vintage Airstream trailer nestled in the woods here in the Canadian Pacific Northwest. Sounds dreamy right? Well let us tell you that it isn't as easy as it looks & the process of building our dream tiny home on wheels (in just 60 days) was freaking hard!!! Come along for the journey as we share the entire Airstream build as the first series on our YouTube channel! When we're not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you'll find us out on the ocean, living and sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She's a Catalina 30 and we've been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail! OUR STORY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt8aijVtK_E I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago. A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we've been given. Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we've been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out! We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality. This is the beginning of our YouTube journey & over the next few weeks we will be sharing our first steps towards making full-time adventure possible. We'll be posting weekly videos that document our DIY projects, tiny-home living & our land & sea adventures. It's exciting to post our first episode and we hope you enjoy! Our Raymarine Axiom upgrade from our E-series MFD on our Leopard48 Catamaran was unplanned, meaning it wasn’t even our wish list, but then, when we sent one of our units in for repair, the option to replace for a little more $$ than a repair made us take the leap. And we are glad we did. TIMELINE: 0:00 Raymarine MFD Upgrade Project Kickoff 1:07 Unboxing Raymarine Axiom Pro 2:55 MFD cutout with template 3:30 Navigation station wires and wires and wires 4:15 Axiom Pro, Axiom Plus, Axiom 9” RV version 5:05 Nav station - putting it back together late into the night 9:36 Helm station MFD replacement 11:55 Cutting into our boat - again… 13:06 Starting up the new MFDs! 14:32 Testing and calibrating the system 17:07 One month later - what we love about our new Raymarine Axiom MFDs. 21:30 Sirius XM Weather integration on Raymarine Axiom Our Raymarine Axiom MFD upgrade was unplanned, meaning it wasn’t even our wish list, but then, when we sent one of our units in for repair, the option to repair or replace for a little more $$ made us take the leap. And we are glad we did. Our prior electronic chart system was made up of the E-series, which are good units, and they met our needs just fine, but the advantages of the upgrade were too sexy to pass up. The primary reasons we chose to upgrade were: -Increased processing power to handle more detailed chart data and redraw it faster. -Realvision 3D sonar capability (requires a hallout to fully install this feature) -Better touchscreen (more responsive) -CHIRP Sonar -built-in 72 channel GPS (with optional antennae add-on) -brighter display built to handle all lighting conditions We ended up with 2 12” Axiom Pro units (with the rotating dial) 1 12” Axiom Plus (no dial - secondary screen on our interior nav station) 1 9” Axiom RV (upgraded from a 7”) Here is the link to the feature detail page. https://www.raymarine.com/multifunction-displays/axiom-pro/ Optional add-ons that integrate with the Axiom MFDs that we are considering for later. -CHIRP Sonar (requires haulout) -GPS external antennae -ClearCruise thermal camera -New Radar - ended up doing this not soon after the MFDs -Engine Interfacing -YachtSense Link Marine Mobile Router for 24/7 connection 4G and remote monitoring One challenge was that we had to send our old units in before they would send us the new units. So, we installed the interior nav station unit first to make sure it would work without a major rewire. Then, with no long trips planned where we would have to have our helm station units working, we sent the other units back to Raymarine for our upgrade trades. The entire install took about 16 hours total, but was certainly something that you can easily do DIY as long as you are prepared. They were truly plug and play. They took a little time to get used to, but as the video shows, the screens are so much easier to use that the learning curve was truly short. To accommodate moving from 12” Eseries to 12” pro, there is an extra frame piece that goes on the sides. The Axiom Plus actually had a frame that is a separate piece that was installed. Make sure you tell Raymarine or the dealer what you are replacing so they can recommend the right pieces to make them all fit well. MAINTENANCE COSTS + Lessons Learned LIVING on a NEW SAILING CATAMARAN | Harbors Unknown Ep. 54 So many people dream about living on a boat and sailing around the world. It’s a big risk. You need to leave everything behind. Fabio retired early from a career as a surgeon, and a hospital executive. And I (Kristin) left a promising advertising career to chase that dream. Just over a year ago, that dream became a reality when we moved aboard our new Seawind 1600 catamaran. It hasn’t been without challenges, getting caught in storms, boat repairs, and learning to be self-sufficient. But the most valuable resource we have in this world is time. We wanted to make the most of our time here, experience everything this beautiful world has to offer and make an impact. So to make this easier for you guys, we’re sharing everything we’ve learned living on and sailing our new catamaran over 4000 nautical miles, the safety and comfort upgrades, how much it cost to maintain and run a new sailing catamaran for a year, and answer the question, would we do it again? Take the risk. Sell everything. Retire early. Leave family and friends to embrace this life of uncertainty and adventure. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our Seawind Catamarans boat, Wanderlust, in September, 2020. We're sailing her to Harbors Unknown, to explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We're sharing our adventures as a sailing couple living on a boat and how it’s possible to live an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment. In this video I show you my CNC clamping method. It is a practical method to clamp material on the CNC router. With these CNC router clamps no t-slots or drive-in nuts are needed. This cnc clamping technique requires only some holes in your CNC router table. Just watch this video to see how these CNC clamps actually work. The diameter of these holes doesn’t need to be big in order to have a good grip, 0,4” (10mm) are enough. The table does not lose any stability like this. If you constantly have new ideas and usually need different sizes of CNC router clamps, then this is a great clamping system for you.….I’m absolutely convinced of this. I have tried several work holding methods before and I like this the most. It is very easy and cheap to make and a very flexible solution. This is the link to the video that shows you how I made these hold down devices. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaMP_3QoqZY&t=216s
This is the worst time of year. It's cold, snowing, and dreary - and it's months until boats go back into the water. That's a reality if you're a boater in Canada or the Northern USA, but that doesn't make it any easier. So what to do? Going stir-crazy isn't a good option... We've been planning, of course! Looking at a couple of boat projects we can do while at home, or at least prepare, so that we can get aboard and get ahead of the game when Spring finally arrives. So lots of YouTube videos to learn how to complete some of these tasks. One is a new marine vinyl project for the upper helm bench. Jacqueline ordered the material, and has the sewing machine. Sailrite has been great for informative videos and "How-To", here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/c/SailriteDIY Also, I've been looking at the maintenance and mechanical pieces to ensure I've got the bases covered for my preventative maintenance schedule. The big installation this Spring will be the Solar Kit! I'm not smart on electrical and solar, so YouTube has been brilliant for learning. I highly recommend Jeff Cote and Pacific Yacht Systems' videos. Smart, comprehensive, and tailored for the newer boater who wants to learn....here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/c/pacificyachtsystems/videos The videos on batteries and solar are particularly good! And finally - what will 2022 look like for boating? Well, who knows?? But Jacqueline and I do know that we want to optimize our time on the water, at the Islands, or on a mooring ball. That involves adjusting our work/vacation schedules a bit, but I think it's going to pay off! The Thousand Islands is full of history, and there's always a bit more to learn every time I open a book or read an article about the area. It's fascinating, and we can't wait to explore!

#quickitaly #marinewaterheater #boatwaterheater #boatheatexchanger #waterheaterelement #quickwaterheater #quickboiler #B3quick @quickitaly The Quick model B3 boiler water heater that sits in the corner of our engine bay produces water from an electric heating element. It is normally robust and reliable but unfortunately is as vulnerable to hard calcified water as any other boiler. If, like me, you have single pole circuit breakers on your consumer unit, the RCD can still trip EVEN when the circuit breaker is turned off. This is because on this occasion we had a negative to ground fault which in effect is STILL wired to the circuit. Once we'd established that the fault was indeed the water heater, the obvious culprit was the heating element. After only two years, the elements had accumulated huge amounts of mineral deposits from the hard water. This had caused the element to develop pin holes in the element causing water to leak out, onto the wires and causing a short circuit. Replacing a water heater’s electric heating element SHOULD be one of the easier and cheaper maintenance jobs. But this is a sailboat.. and no boat job is either straight forward or cheap! ____ If you're a professional, expert or even an old salty sea dog with some good advice on how to service water heaters on sailboats, or an expert electrician who can explain ground faults better than I can (!) then please leave any constructive criticism, insight and advice in the comments below the videos. We are DEEP in the Mentawai Islands on the search for more FROTH!! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we continue our exploration deep into the Southern Mentawai Islands. With our crew member Max from the Youtube channel Max & Occy onboard, the froth levels are high as we score one of the best waves in the area all to ourselves. Sailing to us is about the discovery of new places and we like to seek out as many of those as we can! Non stop sailing and surfing, then the need to hide away from weather regularly means we are on the move A LOT. After a couple weeks of living the dream., it is time to do some maintenance to bring Nandji back up to speed. Come along for the journey as we share the entire Airstream build as the first series on our YouTube channel! When were not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you'll find us out on the ocean, living and sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She's a Catalina 30 and we've been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail! OUR STORY I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago. Visit here if you think you can help with our rigging hardware: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/rigging-hardware New Tiers on Patreon! https://patreon.com/acorntoarabella So many updates this week! What's cooking for 2022? Did we just reveal a bit about our launch schedule? What parts are needed to button up the plans for rig and sails? Where's Alix? It's been a hot minute since we had a quiet, contemplative look at some carpentry in action. Steve builds the companionway ladder in this episode, and we follow that process as he selects reclaimed wood from the sides of Victoria's cabin trunk and cockpit footwell. It can be tricky! A simple oil finish on the cabin sole and the ladder steps will feel good on bare feet, will have a good grip even when wet, and will be easy to maintain in the future. The wood sealer we use hardens nicely and protects the wood while leaving some texture that's both pleasing to the eye for its warmth and practical for its safety and comfort. We'll cover the installation next week, when we'll demonstrate how all the hardware that will hold the steps in place. The top step will swing outboard, there will be some pieces in the lid of the fridge to protect the very nice gasket from repeated squishings that could shorten its life. Thanks for being here every week. We've got new tiers on Patreon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur boat builder building a 38' wooden boat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Secret shark paradise sailing Western Australia - Ep137 Just in time for shark week we bring you the sharks of Coral Bay. Captives of the weather, which was blowing a constant 15 to 30 knots from the south, the direction we wanted to sail in, we began to explore the bay around us. Although it looks as if these sharks always turn up for the camera, I can confirm that this is not so. We had to visit the shark cleaning station on three separate occasions before we saw any action. Another time we convinced our friends to come and see the shark nursery with us. We crashed into the swell on our dinghies, getting soaked through only to find the shallows empty. At least we had footage in our camera's to prove the sharks really do hang out there. Thank you for helping keep us afloat and supporting the creative process. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis

Join Bohemia's fearless crew on anchor in the calm lagoon of Barra de Navidad, where they stopped off at the gorgeous med-style resort, for the sole purpose of picking up their burgee for a cruising rally... and, the Captain faces some big issues with his alternator as we attempt to sail away south! Despite the maintenance problems, we made it to the spectacular, remote Esenada Carrizal which was a treat for the eyes, spending the night before checking out another fancy 'resort' anchorage at Las Hadas, Mazanillo. Episode 009 Everyone has a moment in life where you take a pause and reflect on your life and whether you are doing what is right for you. Well, for us, we had one of these moments where we took a hard look at ourselves and our lifestyle and asked what we think is the most important question. Are we happy? What seems like a simple question which has a binary answer, it's not as straight forward to answer as one might think. For us, there were many things that made us happy about our lifestyle and then there were things that didn't. We loved our cats dearly and seeing them go was hard for us. We loved our friends and we enjoyed our careers, which we had spent many years studying and working hard towards. But were we living our best lives and were we spending what we considered to be our prime time doing the right thing? The answer was simple. It was 'no'. We realised it didn't have to be all or nothing. We could make a change in our lifestyle but still hold on to some of the good things too. The night before we left, we realised how many lost opportunities we had with getting to know people and this made it clear to us we were doing the right thing. To say we were nervous about our decision is understatement. It was time for us to make a change. Although it may seem easier to stay with what you currently know and within your comfort space, it's not actually always easier. Join us as we as we make a major adjustment (physically, mentally, and emotionally) to become full time liveaboards on Te Tāiko! We hope you enjoy it! As always, thanks for watching. Sincere thanks to Charlotte Rockstar Jones for composing and recording Te Tāiko's theme song. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment - it helps us out! After a few years of studying and working hard we decided it was time to make a change. We needed a change that would allow us to spend more time together, give us a better work/life balance, and the freedom to travel. While we still had time on our side, we wanted to use it to live rather than use it to chase money. Learning to sail was the answer. In December 2021 we moved onboard Te Tāiko, a Chico40, and since then we have been so fortunate to explore many of New Zealand’s pest free islands and its beautiful anchorages. With our love of travel and adventure, this lifestyle has enabled us to experience so much more than we could ever have imagined. From new experiences to meeting incredible people along the way, our life has been enriched in so many ways and makes us ever so more appreciative of our environment and the footprint we leave behind. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this new lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills exploring New Zealand waters. #boatlife #boat #travelvlog #digitalnomad #lifestyle #sailing #travel

YANMAR 3GM30F Top End Rebuild with NO EXPERIENCE! Pt. 2 I Ep. 33 This is part two of our YANMAR 3GM30F Top End Rebuild! If you have been watching our sailing couple vlog so far, you will know we took Indiana on a voyage to the Solent and sailed our sailboat back to Brighton. We came back to 6 litres of water in our YANMAR engine bilge and some serious engine issues! Our YANMAR 3GM30F needed some work! With the cost of a marine mechanic being way more than we could afford, we decided to roll up our sleeves and tackle the job head on! In the last episode we will showed you how to remove a cylinder head. In this episode, you will see us get the cylinder head refurbished, which includes lapping vales and skimming the mating surface. We also undertake an injector overhaul and hunt for a head gasket. You may have seen our 'HOW to get your ENGINE STARTED' episode earlier in the year, when we had issues cold starting our diesel engine. We guess this is the price you pay for buying a sailboat with no experience! When buying a sailboat, we thought we would have more sailing experience by now, but it seems we have got more experience in rigging and engine maintenance! This is the reality of living aboard a sailboat. However, our Gibsea 372 has proven herself many times over. so lets hope with a little more elbow grease, we will soon be back out sailing around the UK and then one day, sailing around the world! Stay tuned for PT.3 of the YANMAR engine Top End Rebuild with No Experience! We hope that this video gives you some inspiration on how to make the perfect lamp for your home. Wood lamps and tree branch lamps in particular are a growing trend in the world of interior design since they make for a beautiful, natural addition to any home. Also it is cheap to make. You only need a light bulb socket, cable, a switch and some screws. By the way, for the lamp base I used scrap wood from used pallets. So probably the most difficult part might be to find a nice trunk or branch for the lamp. A walk in the woods will probably lead to success. Well, I used my DIY CNC router for some parts but I’m sure the same can be accomplished with a jigsaw and some other tools.
Finally a video out 100% boat owners' life.... Let's face it, boat maintenance is a great part of boat life and travel at sea. And for aviation maintenance specialists like us, it is something exotic and exciting to haul out SV Alegria III, our Hanse Yacht 445 for the 1st time ! . Excitement on our daughter's side who expects a free merry-go-round ride, and on our side maybe a bit of fear to see our 45 feet hull floating at 8 feet above sea-level. This video is Day 1 of a great upgrade we did to have an eco-friendly silicon coating on our hull. Because Ocean matters! Did you know that we were Official Partners of Big Blue Ocean Clean Up. We will make a difference for our planet and to save our oceans even if it costs us an arm (maybe two arms in this case...) . But back to the story, we chose the dry docks of Marina di Ragusa in Sicily to carry out the works and try to enjoy the local life in this friendly Marina while doing so :-). See what it is like to manoeuvre into the docks at the dry docks of Marina di Ragusa and lift your sailboat out with the team of CMR 'Cantiere Navale'. We share our full experience of the day and our surprise to see the hull condition after over a year without cleaning (yes, a bit gross!). Cyril shows you how your instruments can be covered by a thick layer of algae which looks like a natural carpet.... . All our family is contributing to the filming including Kiara, 4,5 years old at the time... Good memories for us and we hope you'll learn something if you are preparing yourself for a sailing adventure. Special thanks to the great team of CMR. Special starring Porto (the dog), our favorite docks' guardian. And Hi to all the friends in Sicily and to the new subscribers. MERCI, GRAZZIE, TX! Come along with us to MS Fabrication in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where Evan Kelly takes the three dimensional templates we built a couple of weeks back and turns them into stainless steel water tanks. In this episode, we'll follow one tank through that process, and you'll get to see it mostly tack welded together. The tools he uses are impressively large and capable of doing a much better (and faster!) job than what we could have pulled off. We're very thankful to Evan, and hope you give him a shout should you need something fixed or fabricated. He's very talented and a joy to work with. We lost a close and beloved friend last week, and Ben put together a tribute to her. Perhaps understandably, Anne couldn't read it herself. We might not have formally introduced Anne to the channel yet, but you'll be able to glean more than a bit about her from this short biography of her best friend. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur boat builder building a 38' wooden boat in Steve's backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when he will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that he's built. Boat life BIG blow SAILIING WA - Ep 136 Keeping an eye on the weather is one of the most important parts of the day when living on a boat. With a storm imminent we have to assess our best option for finding protective cover. There are very few places to hide from a storm on the west coast of Australia. We decide to sail south along The Ningaloo coast to the beautiful anchorage of Coral Bay. When the wind picks up some people see it as an opportunity to assume the position, harnessing the storm's power to get some big air on a kite board.
