#mercedessprinter #budgetconversion DIYcampervan #vantour This week we finish the Camper van conversion. Took a bit longer than we expected but after four weeks of hard work we are very pleased with the final result! Simon goes through our Victron Energy installation. Explaining all the electrics on the Camper van, it was a great practice experience for him. He is much more confident to do the electrics on the Barge now. The Barge will require a much bigger scale of everything but the basics are the same. We actually think that we have gone a bit over the top on the electrics on the Camper van just to see how everything works. We tell you about our experience through the conversion at the end, now is time to enjoy a lit bit of the Camper Van before we put it on the market. Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We post our route everyday, showing you the ups and downs of sailing. An amazing adventure documented every single day. Stop there and leave your comment, we reply every single comment! https://www.facebook.com/sailingoceanfox/ Check the photos on Instagram , plus all the journey. We also have the Instagram stories where we register a few seconds of our day all the time. The best place for you to follow us as it is in real time. So much fun. https://instagram.com/sailingoceanfox/ Visit our website where we have our route on the map in real time. It is automatic updated and you can see where we are. You can also choose some official Ocean Fox merch and help to support our journey. https://www.sailingoceanfox.com/ Have a look at the food we eat on board of Ocean Fox. A daily blog of our healthy lifestyle . We eat a Low Carb Mediterranean plant based diet and we just love it. Loads of fresh fish as we catch so much. https://www.facebook.com/healthyonboard/ Please like and share all of that to help us going on this adventure. We are really enjoying this life and sharing everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

#shipwrecks #shipwrecked #kleincuraçao #islands #sailing #family #turtles #nesting #plasticpollution #beach #clean We head to this beautiful island just off the coast of Curaçao. The water is crystal clear and we are anchored over a huge drop with an abundance of marine wildlife. The island itself is very barren and has a sad history of buried slaves but we also find some carefully protected turtle nests with signs indicating their location so that people do not disturb them. We explore the lighthouse which is the tallest building on the island and head over to the other side of the island to see several shipwrecks and try to clear up huge amounts of plastic that has been washed up on the shore. Surviving alternative living in extreme conditions sailing Western Australia Ep 141 Our adventures in Shark Bay started with a death, which was unfortunate because this is an area synonymous with life. We take a road trip (thank you Skipper for the loan of your car) to see a very boring set of rocks (stromatolites) which have had the most incredible influence on the evolution of life on earth. These wee beasties have survived for billions of years in the most extreme conditions of Hamelin Pool, Shark Bay and are the reason that Shark Bay was awarded its world heritage status. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis

I've built some temporary companionway steps while half term boat refitting is delayed by Storm Eunice (over 60mph was forecast for Beaumaris). But will they fit in our little Nissan Leaf? Hopefully this will provide easy access so that we can take our time to refurbish the original ones, fit the French Cleats to support them and properly prepare the bulkhead that they fit to. We are going to try producing short daily vlogs of our progress during this half term (although it might not be lots as another storm seems to be forecast for Sunday/Monday . Get the A2A Community crest on a tee or sweatshirt: https://www.bonfire.com/the-a2a-community-crest/ We save even the smallest or thinnest pieces of mahogany from Victoria just in case a piece of scrap wood might be helpful. As we looked to fill the bungs and finish the settee locker, also salvaged from Victoria, we used not just the material, but the thin layer of finish, to make good matches to the already-varnished outside surfaces of the piece. Steve's friend Tim Cote has started a boat club at the middle school where he teaches. He walks us through the Chesapeake Light Craft plans that the students are working from, and offers a few thoughts about what mathematics they're able to use as they build this Eastport Pram. And finally, the Dickinson Newport heater gets its heat shielding, which is made of tile and cement board. Steve talks about what Dickenson recommended for spacing and materials, then gets to constructing this highly visible piece of "furniture" in the saloon. Thank you so much for watching! After days of deconstruction & sanding, we were excited to finally start the process of rebuilding this vintage Airstream trailer! Join us this week as we transform the interior with a fresh coat of white paint & build our first piece of (pseudo) furniture in our dream tiny home on wheels! We left you last week on a bit of a cliff hanger! Are you excited to finally see Streamy looking fresh & revived? This might have been my favorite moment of the entire tiny home build, watching years of mismatched paint disappear under a fresh coat of creamy white! It's funny because the camera also enjoyed the transformation... up to this point we found that our camera was having a super hard time focusing on all the different color tones & shadows inside the airstream. But after it was all painted, we noticed that the video quality improved. We think it was because the camera was no longer struggling with exposure confusion now that it had a clean white canvas. But also mayyybe our camera skills improved too?! Also, how cute was my little paint roller in that painting sequence? hahah Cracks me up every time. The little roller was necessary to seamlessly paint in & around the airstream's curves! Anyone who's attempted/completed a tiny home build (any kind of home build) will tell you that the process takes wayyy longer and ends up being much more difficult then they anticipated. We think this episode highlights this common antidote. Building wheel wells was a task that we thought would maybe take an hour or two tops? But 7 hours later we were still measuring, cutting, gluing & screwing. If we hadn't realized it already, we definitely realized then that this tiny home build was going to work us way harder & take much longer then we originally thought. Our 60 day deadline was going to be TIGHT & off camera we were working overtime ticking boxes on our tiny-home-build to-do-list. It's difficult to depict just how much goes into these DIY projects. On one hand we film & edit so that we can show you the entire process, but on the other we have to edit the footage in such a way that keeps you all engaged & watching! Catch 22 right? In the end we hope that people will watch & feel empowered to take on a project of their own. To push past the fear & self doubt & do the thing (whatever it is) that they really want to do but have been feeling a little apprehensive about. Its challenging no doubt, but growth is in the discomfort! What big project/scary thing are you wanting to take on? We would love to hear about it! Catch you in the comments! Much love, A&J SUBSCRIBE! ► for a new video every single Wednesday https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUsg... Our current tiny home is a vintage Airstream trailer nestled in the woods here in the Canadian Pacific Northwest! We like to call her Streamy, our adventure basecamp! Sounds dreamy right? Well let us tell you that it isn't as easy as it looks & the process of building our dream tiny home on wheels (in just 60 days) was pretty challenging!!! When we're not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you'll find us out on the ocean, living & sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She's a Catalina 30 & we've been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail! OUR STORY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt8aijVtK_E I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago. This is the beginning of our YouTube journey & over the next few weeks we will be sharing our first steps towards making full-time adventure possible. We carry on with boat jobs, fitting the new instrument panel that we made last week, we refuel the yacht in preparation for leaving, which on a small Greek island is not so easily accomplished and involved, jerry cans and quad bikes. We add a huge new worktop to our galley turning it from an L shape to a large U. We add an extra, partial, bulkhead to support the worktop and add the strength lost by cutting back the original bulkhead. We lose some seating space but have a footbox under the new worktop so that we still have a full length bed in the saloon. We had already replaced all the original galley with new worktop and sinks having stripped everything out to remove the entire gas installation, remove all the seacocks, gain access to the Whitlock steering gearbox and to fix deck leaks. However, for liveaboard cruising we decided that we needed a much larger galley particularly with space for food preparation. If you would like to encourage us then you can support us on Ko-Fi! https://ko-fi.com/sustainablesailing/ We are refitting a 45year old Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Episode 011 In this episode we sail to and anchor in Squadron's Bay, an anchorage in the beautiful Te Kouma Harbour in the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand. We were truly spoilt in this anchorage as it was not only a stunning place to anchor but there weren't many boats anchored there adding to its peace, tranquility, a feeling of remoteness. Our biggest and most memorable experience here was having a pod of three orca swim under Tāiko as they made their way out of the harbour. They were so close to us we could literally feel the spray from their blowhole as they took a breath and went under Tāiko whilst she was on anchor. A truly once in a lifetime experience. It's also where we see our first stingray, Adam finds a rock to rest on, and where we have an opportunity to save wildlife from a discarded fishing net. We hope you enjoy it! As always, thanks for watching. Sincere thanks to Charlotte Rockstar Jones for composing and recording Te Tāiko's theme song. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment - it helps us out! After a few years of studying and working hard we decided it was time to make a change. We needed a change that would allow us to spend more time together, give us a better work/life balance, and the freedom to travel. While we still had time on our side, we wanted to use it to live rather than use it to chase money. Learning to sail was the answer. In December 2021 we moved onboard Te Tāiko, a Chico40, and since then we have been so fortunate to explore many of New Zealand’s pest free islands and its beautiful anchorages. With our love of travel and adventure, this lifestyle has enabled us to experience so much more than we could ever have imagined. From new experiences to meeting incredible people along the way, our life has been enriched in so many ways and makes us ever so more appreciative of our environment and the footprint we leave behind. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this new lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills exploring New Zealand waters. #boatlife #boat #travelvlog #digitalnomad #lifestyle #sailing #travel

YANMAR Marine Diesel Engine I Top End Rebuild with NO EXPERIENCE l Pt 4 I Ep. 35 This is part four of our YANMAR 3GM30F Top End Rebuild! Follow our journey as we service our YANMAR diesel engine... In this episode we put the heat exchanger back together and back on the engine, put the water pump and fan belt back on, we run you through a step by step of ‘how-to’ change the primary and secondary fuel filters and we fill up the engine with oil and coolant and bleed the fuel systems! A huge thank you to our friend Jools for our amazing Christmas present! If you have been watching our sailing couple vlog so far, you will know we took Indiana on a voyage to the Solent and sailed our sailboat back to Brighton. We came back to 6 litres of water in our YANMAR sailboat engine bilge and some serious diesel engine issues! Our YANMAR 3GM30F diesel engine needed some work! With the cost of a marine mechanic being way more than we could afford, we decided to roll up our sleeves and tackle the job head on! In the last three episodes we showed you how to remove a cylinder head, refurbish the cylinder head, which included lapping vales and skimming the mating surface and an injector overhaul with a hunt for a head gasket. You may have seen our YouTube sailing engine video 'HOW to get your ENGINE STARTED' episode last year, when we had issues cold starting our diesel engine. We guess this is the price you pay for buying a sailboat with no experience! When buying a sailboat, we thought we would have more sailing experience by now, but it seems we have got more experience in rigging and marine diesel engine maintenance! This is the reality of living aboard a sailboat. However, our Gib'sea 372 has proven herself many times over. So there's a bit more sailboat maintenance to tackle but lets hope with a little more elbow grease, we will soon be back out sailing around the UK and then one day, sailing around the world! Stay tuned for PT.5 of the YANMAR engine Top End Rebuild with No Experience! Lubricating your vehicle and equipment is crucial for long life and reduced repair costs. The constant movement of ball and universal joints wears out grease along with sand and water turning it into sandpaper. Regular greasing removes old grease and sand that has contaminated it. The time between greasing your vehicle and equipment will vary based on use. An off-road vehicle or heavy equipment will require more maintenance than a road queen. It isn't too difficult to locate most grease points on any vehicle or piece of equipment. If it slides or spins, it will likely require grease for the bearings. If it doesn't need grease, then you have a sealed bearing. These are awesome until they fail. I had a universal failure on my truck leaving my driveshaft on the trail. #victronenergy #mastervolt #mastervoltchargemaster #victronbatteies #boatelectrics #deepcyclebatteries #agmbatteries #24v #marineelectrics #boatelectrics The 12v 90ah batteries under the pilot berth needed changing, so we took the opportunity to upgrade them to 110ah AGM Victron batteries. As we'd recently added Panasonic Solar Panels to our system, we also decided to instal a Victron Phoenix 3000VA Inverter and add more DC 230v outlets. This meant we could take advantage of our extra stored power and last longer without using the generator or needing to plug into shore power.. which means more time on anchor and less using less diesel.. as long as the sun always shone obviously! However, what looks good on paper always rubs up against the harsh reality of boat design.. like difficult to access cable runs. But luckily we found some battery cables running to an old inverter in the engine bay.. which saved us hours of extra work! ____ If you're a professional, expert or even an old salty sea dog with some good advice on changing batteries on sailboats, or an expert electrician who can explain marine inverters then please leave any constructive criticism, insight and advice in the comments below the videos. But coming up with a solution for how to track our performance under passage was the perfect opportunity! I created this spreadsheet as a way to help plan our passages, track our performance underway and help us make the decision whether to go all out (aka use the big headsails or motorsail) or reef and slow down to make sure we arrive at our destination during daylight hours. It's evolved over the years, but I'm hopeful it has gotten to a place where people will find it helpful, and not too complicated! ================ Table Of Contents ================ 0:00 - Intro 0:35 - Where To Download the Spreadsheet 1:13 - Planning a Passage 10:51 - Tracking a Passage ================ Affiliate Links ================ Out Chasing Stars is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

Dashing for the border, exploring the jungle, swimming in mangroves, and repairing our water maker is all in a few days work out here. Super-mom Kazza only got 30 days on her Panamanian Visa. So we dash for the border and cross our fingers that we'll get to stay longer! We make it safely back into Panama and after a bit of jungle exploring on our little island we go on a dinghy adventure deep into the mangroves where we experiment with our new over/under camera housing. We get some fantastic shots and Baby Nuggs has an incredible time swimming in the clear waters. I decide to tackle our watermaker troubles and end up replacing the membranes. We are now cranking our amazing quality drinking water and Delos has never been closer to leaving the dock for the season! A chance to see the timeline as it's never been seen before. It's been a while since we've checked back in with the roots of the idea—the pith of what has made 165,000 subscribers want to witness the story of this wooden boat making it to the water. A path less walked and one less rat in the race has drawn Alix, Ben, Aaron, Carolyn, Anne, KP, and many other hands to pitch in to see this boat in the water. I can't believe he did it again Sailing Australia Ep 140 This week we woke to find ourselves in the astounding anchorage at Cape Cuvier, with it's majestic cliff face and salt mine. Rob comes clean on how he injured himself while fishing, and it's not what you think. But before you could say Jack Robinson he hooked himself with another lure. We continued our journey south in what at times were trying conditions. Rob read the wind beautifully to bring us into Carnarvon on one long tack. Our final area to drop the anchor was in the resort settlement of Monkey Mia in the heart of Shark Bay. Thank you for helping keep us afloat and supporting the creative process.

Finally take Snowgoose for her first sail in a few years but zero wind, quite a nice relaxing afternoon though. Get most of the epoxy fairing done on the keels and a bit more work on the DIY composting toilet project. 🎼 Music/Müzik: Song: The Inspirational / Soudscape Music provided by VN vlog, No Copyright Music Link to: https://youtu.be/gWIFhmWpTPI 🎼 Music/Müzik: Song: Heart and Soul / BDKSonic Music provided by VN vlog, No Copyright Music Link to: https://youtu.be/w11qioriGVo 👩🏻‍✈️👨🏻‍✈️ Sosyal Medya📱 İnstagram: eleven11sailing Facebook: eleven11sailing Podcast: Eleven11 Sailing / Götür Beni Denizlere https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbGrnMRkzYdgdxLVKroa9vys https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHftguUvrkFSjNkjFL0hCJl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHXtj78EaasYMD6PLReS0Jm https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEb5TkeyXqg3Cot2v2w7KEB https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEDV7fLjDGvTcwzgYDyaCmn https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbFZOjbIvU50GNmUy_tgdL1c #denizdeyaşam #eğlence #eğitim #yelkenli #sailing #tekne #sailinglife #boatshow #sailinglife #yaztatili #göcekkoyları #denizifilmleri #yelkenlifilmleri #yelkenli #deniz #mavi #eleven #elevensailing #tekne #eleven11 #sailingeleven #koy #gocek #göcek #solo #solokaptan #hanseyacht #hansetekne #eleven11sailing #bilgi #amatördenizci #solohayat #tuzluhayat #tuzlusu #kadın #kadınkaptan #denizden #denizci #denizcilik #yelkenvideoları #teknedeyiz #turkuaz #açıkdeniz #kişiselblog #sailing #sailingkanalı #koylar #hanse #hanse455 #hanse460 #hanse458 #hanse510 #boat #yelkendünyası #yatdünyası #yatçılık #adb #adbehliyet #kmt #gezi #seyahat #geziyorum #türkiyekoyları #türkiyem #ülkemingüzellikleri #yelkenli_tekne #tatil #ege #akdeniz #tekgövde #monohull #adyk #amatördenizciyiz #flok #anayelken #fullarma #selftacking #otomatiktramola #tramola #kavança #alestayelken #tekbaşıma #tuzluhayat #deniztutkusu #hobi #yelkenhobisi #deniz #denizci #denizcilik #denizler #denizden #yelken #seyir #mavitur #psikoloji #beyazsayfa #yenihayat #aborda #abordaolmak #bordalamak #iskele #sonbahar #sonbaharsezonu #sonbahardönemi #yalnızlık #özgüven #kendinisev #hayata #hayatadair #hayatadairöneriler #hayatadairvideo #beniseviyormu #kendimiseviyorum #doğayısev #doğadostu #doğalyaşam #çevre #çevredostu #bilinçaltı #bilinçlifarkındalık
