Fishing amenities are abundant and all add to the vessel’s focus on landing fish on long days offshore, which is the primary reason for anglers to consider this vessel. While triple outboards get the job done in terms of speed and power, they are not easy to manage unless they come with a full complement of features including power steering, iTrim and iSteer – all of which were incorporated in the triple Evinrude E-TEC G2 rig on our test boat. For anglers who want to bring their family aboard, a set of options are available to increase the number and comfort of seating aboard.

When living on the edge isn't enough, 25 teams went full send all the way from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, AK in what is classified as a race, but is more of a mad dash from civilization. The topsides are still rectangular providing more room, and the side helm console and bench seat are etched into many adults’ memories from childhood. The foam-filled hull is still unsinkable. Gone is the cathedral hull design made famous by Ray Hunt, replaced by a better invention of Hunt’s, the V-hull form. With a 15-degree deadrise at the stern, the boat retains much of its former stability, but now handles better.

It incorporates virtually all of the driver-centric features of the 6-cylinder G2s that have been on the market for several years. Most important, it is more fuel-efficient than any competitive 4-stroke on the market. It is also the quietest engine we have tested at best cruise in its class. This is a noteworthy finding because historically 2-stroke engines were generally thought to be louder than 4-stroke engines. Evinrude techs tell us that the new G2 platform has produced more torque than its competition, something that bass boaters and boarders care about. The engine has a 5-year non-declining warranty as well as a 5 year anti-corrosion warranty.
