This industry-first performance is achieved thanks to fully submerged hydrofoils and an advanced control system. The wing-shaped foils reduce energy consumption by 80 percent compared to fossil fuel planing boats and also cuts fuel costs by some 95 percent. In a cruising speed of 22 knots, the Seven consumes only 0,8 kWh of energy per nautical mile. That is the equivalent of using 0,29 liter per gasoline per nautical mile. In addition, the Candela Seven has superior seakeeping compared to similar sized bowriders. In moderate seas, the carbon fibre hull soars above the waves without touching them.

Few days ago we published a movie on our blog about our situation in the Caribbean and Saint Lucia, where we are at the moment. As we said in the movie, the situation on many Caribbean Islands has been changing from day to day and so it happened here, in Saint Lucia. On April 1st, a 24-hour curfew was introduced until April 8th. At one moment the island was practically closed (including shops). For us, this means, that we are not allowed to go to the shore. The next day, two dates were introduced for small grocery stores to be open, but only for few hours. Despite everything, the situation looks quite calm here. The Prime Minister calls on citizens to cooperate and set aside any political and other differences. We are anchored in Rodney Bay in the vicinity of about 30 other sailboats and as we are usually provisioned for longer (i.e. several weeks) we have something to eat and restrictions are not painful for us. And ... how are we are dealing now on one surface ? This is different story ... On its way. We wish you much health, love and peace until the world returns to its new form. Walking away from engineering jobs at Microsoft, then BMW Designworks to build electric boats is an unusual career move to say the least. But that was Polish-born Piotr (“Peter”) Zin’s calling. Following two years in development, Zin Electric Boats launched its Z2R, a 20-foot carbon-fiber runabout powered by the BMW i3 battery coupled with a Torqeedo Deep Blue propulsion system. One of the advantages to electric power is that it provides instant torque. Weighing just 1,750 pounds, the Z2R can top 35 mph, and at cruising speed of 10 to 12 mph has a range of 80 to 100 miles. The battery can be charged with either 110V or 220V and costs less than $6 to recharge. The interior combines wood finishes with composite accents, comfortable seating, touchscreen system monitoring, and a custom-designed Fusion sound system. “This quiet and fast boat is just the first step in our development,” Zin, 42, says of his Seattle-based company. He’s no stranger to boats, servings as lead designer at the U.S. Marine division of Brunswick Boats from 2005–2008. “We believe that electric propulsion is the future of boating, but we are not willing to compromise on what traditional boating takes for granted — performance and handling.” The Z2R was launched at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2020, where BoatUS Magazine's senior editor Rich Armstrong took it for a spin. The boat sells at the luxury price of $250,000. Zin says his primary market will be as a tender for large yachts. Hi everyone and welcome to our channel. In this episode, we are taking you to Fort Lauderdale. We came to Florida to change our Dinghy because we had a crack on the hull and Fortunately we noticed it the first year and the brand told us they will fixe it. But after few tries, and four years later, we still had the same problem. We met the Hightfield Director in France @Yves Brintet , to explain to him our problem and he directly told us than he didn’t want any client unhappy and he will give us a new dinghy for free. We didn’t believe it at the beginning but he kept his promise and he managed everything to make us getting a new dinghy. That why we had to leave from Panama to go to Florida. Enjoy our video !
