Video of Garcia ExploCat 52 to go along with upcoming interview with Garcia Yachts.
In this video, we are going to show you how to moor a catamaran alongside the dock, i.e. the manoeuvre we usually perform when we go to refuel and arrive at the fuel station dock, where we always moor alongside. The video below shows the SVN sailing for iCAT, a sailing lesson series. iCAT SVN CATAMARANS is part of the SVN network, Italy's most important sailing network. We produce many contenents and try to do it with the maximum quality possible. Most of these are in Italian and English, and you can find other English videos on our main YouTube Channel, SVN. Why Just TAKE OFF….You should just GO….Ep 13 #wintering in Porto Heli #Sailing Peloponnese #Saronic Islands The journey on Vayu my sailboat began knowing that I just wanted to GO. Not really clear on where and why. It was definitely just a strong urge and the sense that sitting around being retired was not enough. Maybe the confinement of Covid also played a part. But in any case I did take off and am happier for it. In June of 2022 we left Palma de Mallorca and went to Palermo, Sicily. Then along the North Coast of Sicily, visiting Cefalu, then the Aeolians (Lipari Islands) and then down the East Coast of Sicily (Syracuse, Taormina and Messina) and finally across the Ionian through the Corinth Canal and into the Aegean. With over 1000 Greek Islands before us. Sailing in Greece is amazingly beautiful and in Ep 12 , we visit the Saronic Islands, and I delve into the reasons that I love sailing Greece. This next season will be dedicated to exploring Greece and the different Island Groups. Also with friends and family and probably sometimes on my own even though Ive found I prefer company. In this episode I reflect on what Ive learned and why I believe that if you can you should just take off. The people I have met and shared with, the places Ive seen, and the experieces Ive had are all so enriching. Staying at home is comfortable but not usually stimulating and enriching, and there is a world of places and people that stimulate not only my thoughts and couriosity but my emotions. While sailing from place to place I feel so alive and excited about what the next day holds I can hardly contain my excitement. No two days are the same and it just makes me love life all the more. In SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD, you will find the amateur creations of my first season of travels and experiences on Vayu my 44 ft X-yacht. The people I travel with, the places we go, the times we have and my reflections of all the wonders I experience every day. I am Michael, the grandad of this adventure, a lifetime sailor, practicing yogi, father of 4, grandad of 5, amateur chef, and thankful man. I live between Palma de Mallorca, Vayu my sailboat. This journey is a celebration of life and dedicated to taking one day at a time, living spontaneously and gratefully as long as I can. This channel was launched at the beginning of the Ukrainian invasion. I make monthly contributions to Save the Children-Ukraine, in the hope that my small bit added to millions of other small bits can in a small way help ease the suffering caused by this horrific war. Thanks for your interest. Sailing like life… its all in the journey! Cheers!

Sailing is one of the best ways to see the world, but like everything else in life, it doesn't always go as planned and sometimes there are a handful of surprises. In this video, unplanned changes in course turns into an amazing exploration of the coast of Panama as we sail towards the Panama Canal. #sailing #boatlife #panamacanal ✅ Help keep the adventures coming and check out our Patreon for some exclusive perks! https://www.patreon.com/lavidagypsea 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/la_vida_gypsea/ 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SailingLaVidaGypsea/ 👉 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/lavidagypsea ✅ For Business Enquiries: lavidagypsea@gmail.com ============================= ✅ My Playlists 👉 Sea of Cortez ( Baja California Sur): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fza2cL1WRxw&list=PLU-l_xNaPVKt0yY-wlSKyqSf9mdqqsGU8 👉 Southern Pacific Mexico: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4OvR2oQ_2Q&list=PLU-l_xNaPVKvMGrX2w8EXlH6vSgWx_34p ✅ Other Videos You Might Be Interested In Watching: 👉 EXPOSING IT ALL | Liveaboard Sailing Q & A | Sailing La Vida Gypsea - Ep: 48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_qjvO8yusg&t=146s
We leave port saint louis du rhône and head for Mallorca. However, the weather is against us and we let the wind determine our course. We end up motoring much of the way, and find out that the port engine has some challenges that we need to fix at some point. Drift dive. Kerou Channel Dive Site in Raja Ampat Kerou Channel Dive Site can an exhilarating joy ride if you get the tides right. Although the wall section on this site is short, the sloping reef of the rest of the site is beautiful with amazing sponges of all shapes, sizes and color. Marine life is abundant, including macro life, if you are able to pause for a moment in the current. On a side note, if you are on liveaboard in the area, during your service interval, keep an eye out for the black tip reef sharks that will circle your boat. It should be okay to snorkel with these sharks, but remember, they are wild and you are not in a petting zoo. This video was entirely recorded on a GoPro Hero 10 Black. Boat Tour: Setup of a Cruising Specification West Wight Potter 19 We begin by removing the tiedown straps that keep the boat on the trailer. This one goes over the bow, and is there in the event the winch should fail whilst towing The second strap is toward the stern of the vessel Boarding the boat is made easy by use of the swim ladder Once aboard, we can start preparing the mast for raising At the bow, the mast is lashed to the pulpit when not in use The shrouds are lashed to the mast for safe keeping A wooden block is used to support the mast at the mid point Here, the mainsheet is unlashed from the mast Now remove the adjustable backstay, which is being used to hold down the mast at the stern of the boat Next step is to remove the securing bolt from the mast tabernacle Then loosen all halyards and the mast raising tackle Now the mast is free and can be moved aft ready for raising Attaching the mast to the tabernacle Here we can see the "gin pole" laid out on the foredeck This pole is used to help raise the mast It's a piece of galvanized steel pipe with two lines attached The gin pole connects to the base of the mast, and the two lines clip to padeyes on the deck Here's a shot of the "block and tackle" used to raise the mast The dark red line is the one to pull but not yet The block and tackle is attached to the stem fitting at the bow Returning aft we make sure that the shrouds are not twisted at the tangs The mast is ready to be raised The jib halyard, shown here on the left is kept attached to the pulpit it provides an extra layer of security, as it also can be used to support the mast temporarily The mast is fully raised now, so time to remove the block and tackle and the gin pole The forestay is detached from the block and tackle and reattached to the stem fitting The forestay is attached to the stem fitting with a quick release lever The lever tensions the rig which then requires no further adjustment Tape is added to ensure no possibility of the quick pins coming loose Next, the bow dockline is flaked onto the deck It will be used to help with the launching of the boat from the trailer The adjustable backstay is brought into tension And the mast crutch is removed Shown here, is the 3d printed custom mastgate that keeps the sail slugs in place when the sail is being reefed it's necessary to remove this before fitting the boom and mainsail The boom and mainsail are brought up from the cabin and the aft end is attached to a wire lanyard connected to the backstay the gooseneck is fitted into the slot on the mast followed by the sail slugs Next the mail halyard is attached and the last of the sail slugs are inserted the mastgate is replaced into the mast some dry-lube is applied to keep things working smoothly The mainsail has a downhaul for tensioning the luff The control line is run through the block and cleat Jonah does not have a topping lift, but instead has a boom kicker The kicker attaches to the base of the mast via a boom bail As does the boom vang Next, the mainsheet is attached to the aft end of the boom The tiller cover is removed And the retractable keel is raised into the fully up position using the winch She's almost ready for launch now Stashing the swim ladder... we won't be needing that for a while now The bow dockline is tied to the trailer with a slip knot, to stop the boat from floating away after launching Driving to the launch ramp No video of me launching, as i was too busy There she is at the end of the dock, almost ready for adventures! The keel bolts, used to support the keel when the boat is not in use are removed Lowering the keel to the fully lowered position The kick up rudder is dropped down A figure 8 stop knot in the mainsheet Lowering the outboard into the water She's ready to put to sea!

Episode 24: Sailing, Rounding the Peloponnese part 1 | Drone crashed This week on Sailing Eriskay Cass and Shelly sail from Zakinthos to the Peloponnese to start their journey around the horn and into the Aegean Sea. We sail almost every day this week and didn’t stop for much. We stayed at free anchorages every time, had a first time experience sailing wing on wing without a spinnaker pole and had a crash GYBE to save our drone! This was an excellent practice for a man overboard as it was treated the same, Shelly spotted the Drone for Cass so he could focus on captaining the boat through the GYBE and back to the drone which had malfunctioned and got stuck in hover mode. So we had to immediately go back and pick it up. The captain did an excellent not only managing a controlled about face GYBE without having the Boom slam but also piloted the drone to the safe hands of Shelly. Watch as he steers the boat with his foot and controls the drone with his hands. We then continue our sail down stopping at the following anchorages. Anchorages: Katakolon 2 days for weather at anchor we didn’t go ashore Kyparisia 1 night Stern to town quay, up the hill we went on the hunt for medium sweet Greek wine which is so yummy 🤤 found great prices Pilos 1 night anchor GIALOVA anchorage, great place for provisions but a bit of a walk to the grocery up there hill. We were also stopped by port police as we were leaving and even though we only stayed at the town quay in Pilos to provision (total of 2 hours) they required us to check in. Kolyvri 1 night anchor, nice quiet bay by ourselves we didn’t go ashore Koroni 1 night anchor, quaint town we didn’t go ashore Join us on our journey as we continue rounding the Peloponnese and visit some very beautiful ports along the way.
