INTERNATIONAL FORMULA FOIL CLASS RACE "FLY EUROPEAN CUP LE MAILLY“ Regatta NEWs Race Season highlight on Lake Geneva - Formula Foil, iFLY international Summer Games 2023 The iFLY European Cup Le Mailly took place again this year on Lake Geneva in Versoix. The exclusive silver trophy of this thrilling race is a challenge cup and is passed on like the America’s Cup. This year from July 12th to 16th, ambitious sailors competed for the coveted trophy. The cup and 2023 title went to Raphael B. from Hong Kong. (Michael Miller, the manufacturer of the iFLY, had stepped back for fair play, as being fastest with the latest iFLY RAZZOR.) Second place went to Benjamin Firmenich, third to Gerhard Florin. The exciting spectacle took place in the breathtaking setting of the Mailly family estate of the Firmenich family, which has a long tradition in the sport of sailing. 9 races were sailed in great conditions between 5kts - 20kts and plenty of sunshine. Pointing our bow toward the empty horizon and watching the land slow fade away behind us has always been one one my favorite aspects of sailing the world. But this time I am filled with even more excitement, and more fear, than usual After spending 9 months in Malta, having a baby, installing a bunch of off-grid systems, and preparing ourselves for life underway, we have finally set sail for our first destination over the horizon as a new family. Although Desiree and I have logged thousands of miles out at sea, this voyage will be a completely different beast. I’m going to have to learn how to sail our boat single handed, which won’t be so bad on our 16 hour sail from Malta to Sicily. But from Sicily to Greece I’ve got 48 hours straight that I’ve got to be in charge of the boat. So while the rewards of sailing with a family are so much deeper, the hard parts seem so much harder. But for the first part of this adventure our goal is to sail to the historic city of Syracuse where we hope to discover one of the most important ancient cities in the Mediterranean. Oceanco's Project "H" had to be one of the best kept secrets in yachting history. The famous shipyard took a 95m yacht they had delivered in 2000, and completely rebuilt it in what was to become the greatest example of upcycling the yachting world had ever seen. Please don't hate me for this...but yes, I've done it again. You've told me not to...but I really had no other choice. This happens to be another video focused on fairing. What choice did I have?, you ask. Not much. As we're still waiting to get a laser in to continue work on the prop shafts, we have to push forward on general boat work....which this time of season is, you guessed it, sanding and fairing. The first half of this video is dedicated to me trying to complete those coves I took on last week - but an attempt to get primer on some shelves inside the head is a little more than distracting. I tried to make it as fluid and enjoyable as possible though!! So make sure to drop your comments on how you found my day of fairing: interesting; enough to keep me kinda watching; or, Girl - you need to make some changes around here. Honestly....I want to hear!! But, getting away from boat work, we also feature part two of our Vancouver adventures. Now nestled into Victoria, we leave our hotel to see some of the local sights surrounding this island hub. Cookie shacks, waterfalls, and lavender fields...British Colombia has so much to offer!
