Our first extended sailing adventure of the summer with our first nice stretch of weather: 5 boats, 4 days, 3 nights. We tested out some new gear provided by Hollyland - a pair of Solidcom 1 headsets. I have hearing loss and wear hearing aids, but not when I am sailing (I am terrified of losing one or both - as they are very expensive!). So these headsets could be ideal - so we test them out in all types of scenarios - some fun, some very practical and useful. Does 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner work, well I can say it made cleaning the driveway much easier. I still used the power washer and show you the difference between the two. There are several Pros and Cons for going to the Deep South of Maldives. In comparison to our trip several years ago we found a lot more livaboards and divers in Addu Atoll. The divespot"Tigerzoo" in Fuvamullah is very special. With our local guide we felt very safe. In Gaafu Aliffu we were surprised how healthy the corals are. After a few years of bleaching in a row 2017 and 2018 they are now in excellent condition. The biggest surprise of our trip was the amazing house reef of The Residence with several encounters with a Zebra Shark. Thanks to the dive crew of The Residence for some of the best channel dives ever. The snorkel video was shot with Gopro Hero 9 For the diving videos I used a Panasonic GH5MkII. After returning from an overseas missions trip to Cabo Verde, I began considering wether or not to sell my Pearson 26. I’ve grown fond of her over the past few years. I put some work into her refit and she’s a beautiful boat. What happened was seeing the need of others in Cabo Verde (off the west coat of Africa) has me thinking of ways I can help support the missions work there. I’m thinking cutting back on my marina fees will help free up some more funds for donations to the poor.
