The third race of the first series was short and sweet under threatening skies with a soft but steady breeze out of the East. Familiar names had podium finishes as Ed Holt, James Urban, Ron Anderson, Salveson/Lewis, and Kaminer/Christofel, Steve/Jerry, also made the video.

The regular season is winding to a close, with the last few districts finalizing their Nationals spots. This weekend we begin the post season with the ICSA Semifinals in Annapolis. Chris and Jane give an in-depth look at this regatta and point out the teams to watch this weekend for the 18 spots to ICSA / Gill Dinghy Nationals in June.

Japan's Ai Kondo will be sailing with Wakako Tabata at the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition and the Japanese pair will be one of the favourites for Women's 470 gold. The duo won gold at the Olympic Test Event and have consistently finished on the podium in the ISAF Sailing World Cup series.

Joonas Lindgren (FIN) has been quietly preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition with crew Niklas Lindgren. The pair finished 22nd at the 2011 ISAF Worlds but had an amazing opening day with a race win and a second place, a feat they would want to repeat at London 2012.

France's Stephane Christidis has a good relationship with his helm Manu Dyen and the pair are aiming for the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition podium.

Motor sailing to windward with 2 reefs in the mainsail. We are trying to get back to the mooring before it gets too dark, so the motor is adding a few extra knots to our speed. The boat is doing around 10 knots in 20 to 30 knots of wind with double reef..

Rig up and sail the sailing dinghy, also my tender for our live-aboard catamaran. Launch off the big boat. I have cut down a VS mainsail with full length battens for the adult sail. It's got serious horsepower and makes for a bit of sport. The smaller sail is the colored one in the video. It is about half the area and will be ok for the grand kids to learn to sail with, if they want to. Some of my most memorable times cruising have been sailing around a coral island in a dinghy. Calm waters, gentle breeze, no noisy motor, you blend in with the environment. I have seen so much more marine life this way; large and small fish, sharks, stingrays, squid, turtles etc. Many of these creatures are quite shy and this is the secret to getting up close.
