We regularly meet cruising sailors who have never serviced their winches. This can cause a serious accident if the winch is under strain and the winch handle is in place. If the pawls stick the winch can spin backwards and a break an arm or worse. Its is vitally important to service winches regularly... In this video we show the Lewmar winch. Taking it apart, servicing the bearings and pawls and reassembling. Pass this along to sailing friends if you think they might not be aware of this risk... #lewmar

Gelungener Lauf zum Jahresabschluss Mit 287 Teilnehmern verzeichnete der 8. Rhader Silvesterlauf einen neuen Teilnehmerrekord. Das optimale Laufwetter trug sicher dazu bei, dass sich auch viele Baminis angemeldet hatten. Sieger des Hauptlaufes über 11,4 km wurde Martin Lohbreyer in 42:39 Min. 2. wurde Michael Hessling von den TriDucks Dorsten in 42,49 vor Toni Babot Rabsana aus Palma de Mallorca, der in 44,23 Min. den 3. Platz belegte. Bei den Frauen siegte Karina Sauer in 52,51 Min. . Den 5,5 km Lauf gewann Moritz Gandoy Bürger in 19:14 knapp vor Lutz Holste, der mit 19:21 Min. deutlich vor Timm Diekenbrock mit 20:12 Min. ins Ziel lief. Schnellste Frau war hier Talitha Lange in 25:07 Min. Das Silvesterwalken gewann wie immer Edda Schröder, die für 7,5 km 43,33 Min. benötigte. Den Schülerlauf über 2,6 km gewann Teresa Schulte-Wermlinghoff in 9:58 Min. vor Daniel Peitz und Hannah Stöcking. Vollen Einsatz auf den 1,5 Sportplatzrunden zeigten alle Bambinis. Hier stand die Teilnahme am Lauf an sich im Vordergrund.

The BAÑULS 60 / MC²60 #1 catamaran Mach² finished 2nd over the line in the 656 miles Hong Kong to Vietnam Race 2013 behind Ragamuffin 90. The Bañuls 60 finished ahead of the three TP52 and the other 90ft monohull Chivas. Mach² sailed the 656 miles in 49h30mns.
